Enjoyed our stay, but could be better

Very good breakfast, big rooms and pools beach access is nice! Big refrigerator on room. Comfortable balcony with sofa. Shower is good. Very comfortable beds > I got 100 sleep score here after a long time. I liked the hotel design, modern & sleek.

Our room smelled moldy and we identified the smell to be coming primarily from the sofa. We didn't even sit on it, because the smell was just too much. The light switches were stuck except the main light switch, which was barely working. Overall a weird lighting controls. I found some light brown bugs in the TV remote, which I then immediately quarantined on the balcony. The entry doors & lock seems really cheep and the doors do not isolate sound at all. This was especially painful due to chainsaws roaring from the opposite lot during whole day. Also you hear everyone going around your room doors. Reception area is not air conditioned.

Every bit as good as our last trip seven years ago

Second visit to this hotel. Stunning property, great breakfast. Lovely big rooms. Close to good bars & restaurants. In a nice area of Khao Lak. Happy hour at various hotel bars run in sequence from 1pm to 6pm.

No late check out available. If you have a late flight, suggest booking an extra night to keep your room.

Very enjoyable stay with lots of restaurants a short walk away. Family friendly resort.

This was our 2nd stay at La Vela, 6 yrs apart. There is lots of vegetation now & is well looked after. All the staff from checkin to departure were exceptional. Meals were very good & catered for all nationalities. The Pool Access Room that we had was large & comfortable. All rooms have a large fridge, air con worked well & the pool was large & water quality was good with no black or green algae present. The huge xl king size bed was very comfortable & linen was changed daily although not necessary. A huge PLUS was that a buggy service is available for us seniors who find it difficult to walk too far. Just phone Reception & the buggy will take you to where ever you want to go within the resort & pick you up to return you to your room.

My only negative was the TV channels available for english speaking movies etc. Netflix is available but you need to buy a Netflix subscription so don't leave home with out your subscription details.

Good size poolside room. Breakfast choice and coffee very good. Breakfast staff lovely and helpful. Beachside restaurant very nice. Easy walk to shops, massage, bars, restaurants etc. Great full size fridge, very good robe and cupboard space.

Provided room was probably worst poolside room available. No privacy like others, directly looked on by walkway and neighbours, very noisy neighbours on arrival, downwind so all leaves and debris collected in our corner. One full day of rain so poolside benefit limited during our stay. Didn't realise it had such a significant kids club and pool activities. Two buildings seemed to have quieter pool locations but don't know how you get to stay in those choice locations for adults.

Khao Lak beachside resort for families

Great hotel by the beach and reasonably close to local shops, restaurants, bars and the Khao Lak market. Staff were always helpful and friendly and the facilities were good also. We used all.cafes/restaurants within the resort regularly so the food quality was up to standard you'd expect from a hotel at this cost.

Not a big deal but they could do with staff waiting on the poolside loungers just to keep in line with other hotels we've stayed at in Bali and other SE Asian resorts.

The Perfect hotel in Khao Lak

Our 6th visit to La Vela Rooms are well appointed, clean and modern. Large rooms that have a sofa bed, lots of space to store luggage and a full size refrigerator. The breakfast is one of the best we have had . A large choice of hot food, egg station with many choices, sushi freshly made, good variety of breads and pastries and fresh fruit. There is also a dedicated barrister. Staff are amazing and will do everything possible to make your stay memorable. Three pools to choose from and the beach as well. Kokulo Club has a seafood Buffet three times a week which is not to be missed. Also has a bartender show and fireshow three times a week. The location is excellent with many restaurants within a short walk. A number of minimarts a five minute walk away.

Everything was perfect...hence we have rebooked for our 7th stay.

Beautiful place we hope to return to one day

Gorgeous hotel with a real chilled vibe. Our room was specious with a side view of the ocean. The bath on the balcony was a fabulous addition. The staff all around the resort were super friendly and very welcoming. We really loved our days at La Vela and wished we had booked for longer!

My only small gripe would be the smell from the air con in our room - damp and musty.

Hand on heart the most tranquil hotel I have ever stayed at, we left feeling totally relaxed and revitalised

Initially the room had a smell of stale air, like it had not been occupied for some time, the room would have benefitted from some fresh air before we arrived. The facilities listed for the room here on Booking.com were not correct, it states the room has a jacuzzi bath on the balcony however only the ground floor pool access rooms have this, all elevated rooms have a normal bath, this was however a nice big bath.

Comparing hotel vs price it is a very good place to stay. We came here from Phuket to change the sourraoundings. There are many good things about this hotel and many small things for improvement. First, the hospitality experience could be much better, the reception employees are not always helpful, but the worst was the man responsible for the towels, who didn't want to give me towers in exchange of cards provided during the check-in. He was literalily arguing with me about it, trying to convince me, that I should use my bathroom (white) towels... this completely ruined the hospitality experience = no hospitality. Anyway, exchanging towels for cards is a stupid idea, in all other hotels we didn't have to do it. The cleaning ladies were very nice, the restaurant people also very nice and supporting. There is a nice beach with good equipment. Also, the swimming pools are nice. Food in the restaurant was very good for fair price, they have a lot of choices and we didn't have to go outside to eat. The room was nice and quite big, however I suppose the size of it on the booking.com takes the balkon under consideration in this calculation. We had a bathtube on the balkon and shower in the bathroom and this is the best combination. The breakfast was good, a lot of choices.

Staff not always helpful and nice. Not all areas were accessible for strolleys and people with limited mobility. Towel cards...
