Kind, generous, and helpful hosts. Great location and price. Large room and we could open the windows. Loved the private open air onsen. They offered us rides to the monkey park and train station which was so helpful.
The sleeping mat was very hard.

Very close to the onsens. It has its own indoor and outdoor onsens. Importantly, you’re given a key which allows you to visit all of the official 9 onsens. Very conveniently located. The owners are lovely and will happily take you to and from Yudanaka train station and the monkey park.

We took a trip to Shibu Onsen from Tokyo and it was the highlight of our trip. Daymaruya Onsen, in the heart of the town, was a wonderful place to stay. It is charming, traditional, and quiet, with spacious bedrooms that are private, cozy, and clean. There is a private indoor and outdoor onsen for use on-site. The hosts are lovely and helpful.
There is plenty to do in the area - we took part in the town's local tradition of visiting all nine public bathhouses, visited the snow monkey park, ate fresh, beautiful sushi from a restaurant a few doors from the ryokan, and walked around, visiting the temples and taking in the alpine air. And then you have a peaceful, homely room to return to.
The whole experience was relaxing and we felt very lucky to experience such a beautiful part of the world.
100% recommend.
We enjoyed everything.
