The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The breakfast was absolutely delicious. The hotel is in a beautiful location with beautiful views from some rooms out to the river Forth. Take note that final check-in is at 10pm which nearly caught us out!
The building is an unusual layout, particularly access to the rooms. The double door into the room made me feel uncomfortable. Additionally, being able to turn on a smaller light in the bathroom in the middle of the bright would have been much nicer than the very powerful full light.

Great location
Certain things in the room was a bit dusty,the lighting in room very poor,the light at dressing table didn’t work at all

Location and on site parking
We had dinner with family on two evenings. Service was poor (table not cleared of plates between courses, not cleared of empty glasses & cans, had to ask for cutlery, weren’t asked if we were enjoying food or whether we needed anything….) and food was generally poor. Food wasn’t warm, the roast dinners were all overcooked and on both evenings the battered fish was cold and undercooked. The kitchen closed early on Sunday which meant we advised on arrival we could only have 2 courses. Bar closed early.
The building was in need of maintenance throughout
