I love the whole vibe of this hotel. The lobby, hallways, and the rooms. Stayed once before about 10yrs ago, and was very happy to be able to stay there again.

Bus stop right outside to take you into Edinburgh.
Staff very attentive and polite. Had to ask for extra towels as there were two of us and only 1 towel in the room. Extra pillows were also provided.
Close to a Tesco and a Starbucks.
Public areas were nicely kept.
Construction noise - banging from the floor above on the first morning. When I complained I was fobbed off by the receptionist who asked me a question about what time the noise started. We chose not to book a different hotel because it had stated that there was construction work and we were away on a relaxing long weekend so wanted to sleep in etc!
Would not have booked this hotel if I’d known.
Car park had a whole section coned off for no apparent reason. Spaces were quite small for an suv car - or even just opening doors with luggage.
Bed in basic room is small. I don’t know why anyone puts this size of bed in a hotel now!
Hotel generally is very dark- and the rooms are dark- there’s no way you can see into the open wardrobe which is behind the bed as it has no lights!
Hardly any plug sockets in the room - the single and double socket we found were located under and beside the window-both behind the large desk/vanity/coffee station. Unless you’re prepared to contort yourself or crawl under the table you can’t plug anything in!
Blinds are wooden - lets in so much light. Considering the ‘vibe’ is dark I would have expected darkness in the room but morning sunlight was not well blocked so again a long lie was not possible.
Bar menu was odd- not many regular options for hot food snacks that go with drinks.
