A very pleasant stay.

A clean and modern hotel in a quiet neighbourhood only 20 minutes walk from Cardiff town centre. Buses run nearby. There is an excellent Italian restaurant on the ground floor. Staff were friendly and helpful.

There was no breakfast available, which didn't bother me but might some people.

Very clean furnished with quite up market furniture. very quiet at night. Even though there is a Italian restaurant on the ground floor. After each night the room was made up beautifully all my clothes put on hangers. Which I did appreciate I wasn’t expecting that.

Solo one night stay

I loved the style of the room, modern, stylish and looked new. Shower was lovely and big, bed was super comfy, with plenty of pillows and cushions, and the room was spacious. My room location was quiet and out the way. The hosts and worker were all lovely and the restaurant looked lovely. Television was good and had tea and coffee available too

I had small minor issues that could be changed. There was no lights in the shower and couldn't exactly see what I was doing. Also room was a little cold when I arrived but did get warmer but ideally another blanket would be handy to keep warm. Another thing could be done as well is leave some little information like numbers and wifi passwords and some exit Information and my hairdryer didn't work as well.

Loved this restaurant and inn. Location and staff are wonderful

What a wonderful find. So glad I stayed here. The location was ideal to be on historic Cathedral Road, within walking distance of the cities main attractions, but not in the middle of the tourist mobs. The room was spacious and attractive and the staff were all helpful and friendly. The restaurant food is also fantastic.

It might not be all rooms, but in mine, the springs in the mattress made the bed less comfortable. I almost wonder if it was flipped in the right direction? It is not a deal breaker for me, and I would still book again, but it was enough of a discomfort that I switched from side sleeping to my stomach or back from the weird pressure points. An additional mattress pad would go a long way.

Great value for money - lovely room with big bay window overlooking Cathedral Road. Convenient for the city Little details like coffee making, shampoo; nice towels and a hot shower make a big difference.

The only issue was that the bedroom radiator did not heat up in the morning so the bedroom was quite cold although the bathroom rail was nice and hot.

Convenient and reasonably priced

Nicely decorated room in the Coach House ie not in the main restaurant building but at the back of the garden. Good location on Cathedral Rd. Modern walk in shower. Reasonably priced for what it is.

Could hear the people walking/using facilities in the rooms above as well as deliveries to the restaurant in the morning. Slight musty smell probably because the shower and separate toilet had been built into the room. No breakfast on offer. And no signal, so don't forget to ask for wifi code which I unfortunately did.

Great people, clean rooms, great vibes!

Loved how homey the guest house felt. It had the exact vibe I was going for - in between a hotel and a b&b. Rooms were lovely, bed was very comfy and bathroom was excellent! There's a little TV in the room too which had all the usual streaming sites: netflix, amazon prime etc. I was able to watch my fave shows when I'd come back from a day out. They don't serve breakfast but there was a cafe about a 15 minute walk away called quantum cafe which had the loveliest staff and the nicest english breakfast. Would definitely recommend for breakfast! I tried the restaurant while there and was very pleased by the service and quality of food. I had the calamari as a starter and the pepperoni pizza for a main, with a fruity cocktail for my drink. Really really good portion sizes and I was so full once finished. Staff were very lovely and nice throughout the evening. Location was great as well, about a two minute walk from Bute Park, 10 minutes from Cardiff Castle and the town centre, and a 25 minute walk from Cardiff Central. I was able to pretty much walk everywhere I wanted to which was super convenient for me as I wanted to explore on foot. I was able to get a water taxi (boat) from Bute Park to Cardiff Bay which was stunning! Would definitely recommend spending half a day there if you're free. Checking in was simple, I was given a key and shown my room. The guest house is owned by I think a family of Italians, who are very nice and welcoming! Checking out was also very easy, I simply put my key in a box at the front as I was leaving. I 100% would recommend a stay here, I can't fault it at all and will definitely be coming back in the future!

Everything was superb! Can't fault anything. My room was on the top floor so I was getting a lot of steps in haha but that's not a bad thing. It does sometimes feel like there isn't anyone about in the guest house but the staff are usually downstairs in the restaurant area prepping for the day.

Nice place to stay

Location was great. Close to the park and city center, and love Cathedral Road. The room was clean, comfortable, quiet, nicely decorated. I didn’t have much interaction with staff but the little I did was pleasant.

Brief stay but I would stay here again.

I only used the room for a place to stay after a concert and left early in the morning. However, the room itself was nicely furnished and decorated. It was also very clean and tidy with all that I expected from a hotel e.g. toiletries, tea/coffee etc.

This was a perfect place to stay for my son’s graduation the following day. 10 minute walk to the shops and castle. Lovely Sofia gardens 2 minutes around the corner. Gorgeous very modern and cosy bedroom (number 10) and superb Italian restaurant and such lovely staff. I couldn’t fault this place. I will always stay here when visiting Cardiff from now on. Thank you so much.

Lovely location very quiet just on the edge of the city centre, quick and easy check in and out. Very nice room with a large ensuite clean with all amenities. I had a very pleasant night stay at the Elgano. Highly recommend!

Really nice place to stay!

We had a room in the coach house which was perfect, was nice & cool as hot weather, clean, comfortable, nice shower etc. We also ate in the lovely restaurant, very nice!

Lovely as always

Great service, as always. The location is one of the best in town for access to parks, the city, and decent pubs. The restaurant was very busy on this Tuesday night. Got to mean something.

Went to an old haunt, formerly the Cayo Arms, now the Pontcanna Inn. Trip down memory lane frankly. But they didn't take cash so I didn't stay and won't go back. Went to the Beverly across the road and the Halfway who do take cash

Comfortable great location with ease for town and transport links

Having stayed at elegano before I was expecting more of the same and wasn’t disappointed it is ideally located close to town and to the coach station which I was using to get to Stanstead, the room was comfortable well equipped and I would absolutely stay again, you are able to come and go as you please with a key to the front door of the property, also make sure to use the restaurant as it’s amazing and very well priced for the quality might be worth booking ahead as it is busy

Excellent accommodation and restaurant, perfect location for Sophia Gardens

I was in a room in the building behind the restaurant. For a single room it was a big size! It felt rustic yet modern - really nice. Huge walk-in shower. Big comfy bed. Warm and friendly service from all the staff. Free WiFi had fantastic speed. Perfect location for Sophia Gardens. Excellent value for money. The restaurant is superb, delicious food and speedy service. Highly recommend dining here, lucky to get the only table available (I should've booked ahead!)

Could hear the water system often, almost like every time someone used it (toilet, sink, shower) in the property, I knew about it - sounds of water running / refilling from my bathroom. Sink also leaked when any amount of water was in the basin.
