Perfect location

The location was absolutely perfect. Great for those who want to spend some time hiking and enjoying nature. The staff was very friendly and always willing to help and make my stay comfortable. The restaurant on site was also wonderful.

The room was a bit drafty, and there was no shampoo or conditioner. But the beautiful location outweighed the little inconveniences.

Cold, old and smelly.

Parking included in price (although price/service is way too much for what you get); kettle and tea/coffee in the room. Shower (over head only) was nice and warm (at least that, thankfully). The staff are lovely and accommodating - I could bring my dinner to the room and eat in peace (with a jacket on - the room was cold).

The hotel is old and smells - the old smell is one thing, but the smell in the room (cleaning agent? Air freshener?) was sickening. The rooms are freezing cold and not well cleaned. The heating seemed to be working only on the corridors - both the room and the breakfast area were freezing so I spent my evening in bed and ate breakfast in my winter jacket. Bonus - you do not need the fridge - my banana froze on the windowsill at night. The breakfast itself is very poor - with the bacon looking like it was steamed rather than fried… I was not at all impressed considering the price I paid. There was no view and the hotel is not directly at the lake either.

Wouldn't stay again

We were given a breakfast time of 9.45am. When we went down to breakfast there was none!!!

Waited 7 mins at an empty reception desk to be checked in. Had to go looking for a staff member twice to check us in. Staff drinking at the bar

Fantastic , highly recommend !

We loved everything about our stay, room was lovely & warm & came with a bath. It was a most welcome way to relax after a day walking in the mountains. We had a most enjoyable meal accompanied by a great bottle of malbec recommended by Fabio ! He was exceptional ,a lovely warm pleasant & efficient waiter who made our stay really memorable & enjoyable 😀

I asked for the room to be romanticised and I was told it would be at no extra cost. When I arrived I was expecting my woman to be amazed only to see the experience didnt materialise. The room was plain Jane.

The is a Mouse in the Kitchen & we are going to do nothing

Great location.. but that’s all

Cold rooms .. no lights from car park to hotel.. had to walk up a dark path .. awful breakfast.. there was a MOUSE that came out of the kitchen and wean across the hall to the reception desk .. we informed the staff member .. at reception.. he laughter called his friend spoke in a different language and let the mouse run around the corridor in front of us . We were unable to get back to our rooms when we did we just hit our bags and left .. awful experience.. and staff seems to think it’s normal to have a mouse run around the hotel reception and kitchen ..

I’ve honestly stayed in better Hostels.

One of the restaurant waiters was lovely, the other wasn’t.

Room was small with no blind, just a flimsy curtain. Shower hot water did not work and I had to have a bath. Room and bathroom not very clean. Food at breakfast appeared to be rationed, eg one fried egg per person. Guy at reception tired and uninterested in shower not working.

The view from our room. Parking was great. The outside ‘coffee area’. The breakfast space. The food was nice & the staff were awesome from reception to the waiter at dinner!

Fabulous.hotel.

As a vegetarian there was plenty of delicious food for breakfast, tea was wonderful as the water was boiling hot, lovely.. The bed was so comfortable and en suite with a great shower.. The surrounding area is magnificent, all in walking distance. Plenty of free parking at the hotel.

Enjoyed our stay very much!

Room had a great view over the stream and field; very comfortable accommodations. Had some confusion with my bill which hotel staff corrected immediately once I contacted them - very responsive. Liked proximity to walking trails and nature.

Lots of tour buses/visitors to the area during the day. The visitor center is next door and tourists walk past the hotel to the attractions nearby. Didn't affect us too much, but something to be aware of.

Nice location but….

I liked the location, it’s situated right by glendalough itself and you can enjoy a nice peaceful walk to there.

We’ve stayed there a few times before and the rooms really need to be updated to a more modern decor. The furniture in the rooms is old and boring. The bathrooms really need updating. The size of the rooms is good and there is a nice view from a lot of the rooms also. The bbq is only open on weekends according to a staff member which is disappointing. Considering the price of the rooms at this hotel, I would expect a lot more, and hopefully hotels in Ireland which is one of the most expensive countries in the world in terms of accommodation, will offer more for what people are paying.

Great for walking Glendalough

The room had a lovely view and the facilities were good. The hotel is right on the Glendalough trail which made it super accessible to do the walks.

Breakfast had to be booked in but when we went there was very little hot food left. Pillows in the room were very hard and uncomfortable. The on site amenities such as food were very pricey for what was received but due to the location there weren't many options to choose from.

Beautiful location

A lovely hotel in a wooded area of the Wicklow Mountains and right next to St Kevins monastic site. We arrived on a sunny Saturday afternoon and the car park was full. There was also a wedding at the hotel. The car park attendant let us in without paying but was vague about where we go to check in. We found it and as we had heavy bags parked temporarily in a disability park as close to reception as we could get. There were no steps to negotiate which was great. When checking in, we were told we could stay in the disability park. The room was a reasonable size and we had a lovely view of the river next to the hotel. The bathroom was a good size with the shower over the bath. Dinner at Casey's Bar was good.

The buffet breakfast was a bit basic compared to other similarly priced hotels that we had been to. I shouldn't complain because it was a beautiful warm sunny day, but it shone into the room making it very hot. The windows had catches on them meaning they could only be opened 2 or 3cms. I thought it would cool down later but it didn't.

An average hotel in an amazing location

Location was amazing, the lakes nearby are stunning, the monastic site and mountain views are amazing.

The Cleanliness needs some work. The dishes used for breakfast was dirty, the first glass I used for juice still had lipstick on the rim, when I went to grab another glass I specifically looked at the dishes this time and most of the glasses still had marks on them. I picked the cleanest glass yet when taking a sip I could still taste wine. I also went through the top three bowls on the stack because they still had marks and bits of food stuck on them. The Room was clean, except the bath mat had short hairs still tangled in it. Overall The Cleanliness needs some work.

Location was beautiful and property was clean. Staff were pleasant and room was comfortable enough for our needs.

We had dinner one evening and were disappointed, restaurant prices for cafe food. Breakfast was just ok. We like to have a full breakfast when competing as we dont get a chance for lunch but it was very basic and the bacon could have been cooked better. On the second evening some other guests were very loud late into the night, talking loudly and shouting out in corridor. When I complained to reception they weren't interested.

Breakfast ….what can I say!!! ( but as with a lot of other reviews ) … they really do need to sort out a better system to get the hot breakfast food out to guests in a morning!!.. it’s a self service system, & not a bad choice of food to be fair, but we had to wait & wait for the empty containers for hot items to be topped up from the kitchen each morning and then only one container arrived at a time, so you have to wait again another 5-10 mins for other items to arrive …. Staff on the floor and really hard working and very polite, but I do think management really do need to sort this for all future guests ( it seems a long standing problem from reading past reviews ) .. it’s a fabulous hotel, in a great spot but all these negative review comments around breakfast does let very good hotel down 😕

The hotel was lovely, in a beautiful location, with walking trails, of varying lengths, on the doorstep. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious! Our room was spacious, with a very comfy bed and we had a great nights sleep.

Location Comfortable Room and bed and a great Bathroom, Restaurant and Bar, outside Restaurant Cafe Short walk to upper lake and other walking trails Short drive to Powerscourt Waterfall and to Wicklow. Great friendly staff. A good breakfast choice and good coffee.
