Would never go back and certainly not worth the money

Nothing really

Very hard to find this property in the dark, up county roads and no illuminated lights to identify property followed instructions to cottage ??? Through hedge where a senor light came on but soon as you moved a couple of feet it went off pitch dark was ready to go elsewhere when a resident drew up in car and assisted us with a torch to locate and open key box and eventually get lights on. The cottage was a wooden cabin very small and compact but warm and spotless microwave and kettle but couldn’t fit dishes to heat food

I stayed with my son as we were competing in a kayak race on the Avonmore and Avoca Rivers. Sharing a double bed with him wasn't ideal but a lot better than camping in November! Tom and his wife were very nice and helpful. The room was lovely and warm and the breakfast was really nice and helped us carbo-load for our kayaking!

I loved my stay and will definitely return to the log cabin

I loved my stay at Birchdale House. I booked and arrived the same day and welcome was very warm. I stayed in the log cabin with my dog and it was very spacious, warm and exactly what we wanted. I would absolutely stay again and book the cabin again. It's lovely, clean and private. I did not have the breakfast so I can't comment on, however I was shown the menu on arrival which was very appreciated. There was a cosy common room with board games which looked very nice but we stayed in our room.

Top 3 of all the places we've stayed in 8 trips!

If I could give Tom and wife Sam 100 stars I/we would! WONDERFUL accommodations, superb breakfast cooked to order, and the property is stunning! We had 2 nights in the cabin in back of the property watching the deer and sitting in the quiet having a cold one. There is a darling patio with libations for purchase and the setting is beautiful! Book this spot, you'll fall in love with the place!

modest and cozy

The host was kind and understanding. Despite the very late hour, he answered the phone and gave us directions to our room. The room was clean and breakfast was on time.

The description should mention that it's a small wooden cottage with a lawn, not a garden. In Poland, a garden is flowers and shrubs. The cottage is very cramped, barely fitting two suitcases. The breakfast is not a full Irish breakfast, rather modest.

Very relaxed and enjoyable stay

We were in the log cabin room out in the garden which was very private and had a beautiful outlook. It was very lovely! Lovely breakfast as well and staff were friendly.

Pleasant overnight stay followed by a lovely breakfast to send us on our way.

Pleasant reception, clear information and advice. Friendly staff. Breakfast was excellent and I appreciated the small bar on site as the owner knew the guests mostly drove to the house.

Hotel was a bit out of the way , but it was a nice get away for the start of our holiday

When we arrived we found that thee was no power in the property, but unknown to us the owner had sent me a couple of emails informing me of the situation, the room he gave us was nice with a private balcony , it was clean if a bit dated , bed was comfortable, breakfast was good with all the bits and pieces you would expect to be there , there .

Breakfast was delicious. Tom and Sam are so friendly and even in the middle of his busy morning, Tom found time to give us suggestions for places to stop on the Sally Gap drive to Dublin. Would definitely come back again.

Amazing place!

I was given a private cabana in the backyard of the main house and I couldn't have been more grateful. My window faced a beautiful garden where birds and deer would pay a visit every now and then. I enjoyed sitting on the flowery patio reading a book and being surrounded by the peaceful nature. Priceless. Breakfast was great, rich, and delicious. Can't recommend this place enough.
