Definitely not four star

The location was superb, staff very friendly and helpful.

No lifts and steep stairs in the property. The shower over the bath had no curtain. The glass in the fridge had mould growing around it, curtain was hanging off the rail and the double bed was two singles that just wouldnt stay together. Very uncomfortable.

Short Stay in Douai

Staff was friendly. Excellent location for sightseeing. Excellent breakfast. Good room size and amenities.

No elevator, but staff accommodated request for a lower-floor room for elderly family member.

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone!

good location. center of the city. some of the staff was very friendly and helpful.

our toilet was not working and they could not get someone to fix it so they gave us a key to the room next door to use the toilet. One of the curtains were torn and did not close all the way. the beds were too soft and uncomfortable. The lighting in the dining room was so dim. could hardly see the food. There are no elevators in the hotel so we had to carry our heavy suitcases up a flight of stairs.

Breakfast not worth the money of €17 ....went down for breakfast around 9am with 10am closing and there wasn't any bacon, eggs left so asked reception to sort it out but cook had gone apparently so receptionist cooked something awful for us but was inedible!.... but we were still charged half price for it!....evening reception staff pleasant though

Disappointing

All the staff were very nice. And when we paid the bill and explain the negative points of the room the Manager took our comments in really good part. And said we had the worst room in the hotel which I thought was incredible honest. We were traveling with our dog so sometimes you do get a more shabby room which we understand.

We were on the second floor room 10 . No lift we understand that but the stairs are very very steep to the second floor angled and difficult. Very small cramped room.... Very very hot.. Broken curtain hanging down like a backless dress... Dirty shower needed a good scrub... Loads of dust under the bed... Broken fridge bit smelly with a warm bottle of water in it and 1 glass for 2?

So appalling that checked.out early after our first night

The staff were pleasant although we were put in the wrong room. When I drew this to their attention we were moved

I had booked a "superior" room.but the first room we were given could not have been more inferior if it tried. So small that the door hit the bed as you walked in and you had to close.the window tp be able to walk around the bed. The bathroom stank. We were moved into a room that was bigger and better, but which was not clean. There was.mould in the shower, stains on the carpet and sweet wrappers in the bed! The communal areas of the hotel were in a poor and dirty state. The restaurant, for which this hotel was once famed, was closed. The "terrace" after.which the hotel is named was nothing more than a scruffy back yard, with weeds rather than grass. I do.not know how this hotel got 4 stars. It does not deserve more than one of them.

It's crazy that this hotel with 4 stars has not the air conditioning and has not provide fans or something like for this abnormal hot temperature. It was impossible to remain in the room and in the common places, the air was suffocated and unbreathable.

Big nicely equipped room, I especially like the hairdryer, even though I have,t used it. Good shower products, full-size mirror, nice bad Coffee machine in the room

I found pieces of toilet paper all over my bathroom and some hair in the sink, it was too late for me to disturb the reception, it was easier to flash them myself and go to sleep The breakfast was supposed to be at 7 am, I was downstairs at 7:05 hoping to have my hot coffee and some food before the long day. NOONE was here, not at the reception or the kitchen or the bar. just NOONE, no food either. When the lady finally showed up it was 7:12 am, I asked for a coffee, and she brought a kettle of coffee but never had she brought a cup for it... Food started to be available by 7:20... I took some peanut butter just to find a piece of sharp glass inside, hopefully, I didn't cut my mouth... through all this time NO excuses. not a simple sorry. nothing. When we decided to leave, there was no one at the reception (not surprised this time), the bill wasn't ready though I asked for it in the evening. The receptionist was angry and unpleasant when I asked her to modify the bill since I need it to be on one name for the fees at work. I paid for 2 breakfasts, which we haven't eaten because of lack of time and a glass piece in peanut butter. Probably the worst and the most expensive coffee I had so far... (13,50€ x 2) I am travelling every week, but I am not returning to this hotel :(

Good size rooms, good location.

Was an issue to get rooms next to each other, required phone calls to boss Rooms were not cleaned properly. Only one towel in each room. When I asked for more I was given two very damp towels. Also not much loo roll left and ran out quickly. Restaurant offered one vegetarian option but did not explain there was runny egg which I can't wait

Be careful: La Terrasse has been sold in late 2020. This is NOT Emile Haniques great cuisine anymore. Food is awful as is the rest of the location. The butter we got in the restaurant had been used before, staff doesn't even look at you. Doesn't know what you ordered despite taking notes of the order. Everything takes forever. In the room everything is very dirty, hair in the bathroom in several places. One of the windows falls out if you try to open it, the other can be opened from the outside. Just look at the images. What a mess.

Don't believe the pictures of the rooms!

The staff were welcoming and tried their best, the location is central with paid parking opposite the entrance to the hotel.

The room given bore no relation to what was published on the site Booking.com site; the 'so called' superior double was small, cheaply decorated with taped repairs. The quality more like a 1 or 2 star hotel with a resturant trying its best serve gastronic food, but stuck somewhere in the 1960s - over cooked vegetables, over priced wine and without the care or resource to train staff to serve - especially cheese! If you have to stay here make sure you visit the room first, pay no attention to the slideshow photos and, if you can, find somewhere else to eat!

Frühstück stach positiv hervor, ansonsten zu wenig für 4 Sterne

Das Personal war zuvorkommend, hat allerdings beim Frühstück wenig Präsenz gezeigt. So ist nicht aufgefallen, dass die Gäste nach uns keine Croissants und kaum Butter/Baguette hatten.

Betten: viel zu weich, zu viele Mängel für ein 4-Strene Hotel. Im ersten Zimmer Klospülung defekt und lose, Heizung im Bad defekt, Spiegellicht defekt. Im zweiten Zimmer (nach Tausch wegen Klospülung) fehlt die Duschhalterung (und vielleicht eine Duschwand in der Wanne. Wasserhahn am Waschbecken lose. Handtücher waren unvollständig. In einem 4-Sterne-Hotel erwartet man eigentlich einige internationale Fernsehsender, ist aber natürlich nicht zwingend notwendig.

Établissement peu chaleureux, manque de lumière, et décor à l’ancienne. Et besoin de rénovation. Les ouvriers qui font du bruit à 5h du matin. Trop chaud dans les chambres, Fonctionnement complexe de la douche Décor pas moderne dans les chambres.
