I was really pleased at the cleanliness of my room. Neat and tidy with good decoration. Comfy bed, too. I missed out on the real breakfast as I appeared at 9am, just as everyone else had left. However, a member of staff kindly offered to cook my breakfast (omelette), which was 'above and beyond'. I hadn't checked the end of breakfast time, but as the guests had vacated the place early, I assumed that, unlike me, most were business folk. The staff were helpful and friendly and made my stay a very good one. I will certainly return.

We stayed here for one night and was thrilled with the exterior of the hotel, which was characterful and elegant. However the interior was drab and choice of furniture and carpets not in keeping with age of building. Our bedroom was clean enough, but the mismatch of decor didn’t make the room feel comfortable. The radiator was off (even in October) and was dangerously wobbly. The window had no sash cords but has bolt latches, so hard to open & close. The kettle didn’t reach the plug, so we had to do tea making on the floor (on contract carpet). The bathroom was poorly maintained and again had modern and old decor items didn’t match and had stark light. The hotel could be grand once more, but the attention to details needs to be there!
