The property is quite remote . So you need a car to go anywhere really. We liked it as we had no plans to go anywhere else and just have a relaxing time . Quite quirky and old fashioned interior with lots of reception areas and nice outdoors areas .
On arrival the room I had booked wasn’t available due to maintenance issues . We were ‘upgraded ‘ to a room called cathedral which was right at front of property overlooking car park . This room was possibly the furthest away we could be from the spa . Also the room was a little tired , with scuffed furniture doorknobs and coat hooks loose and falling off and the illuminated bathroom mirror not working . I really didn’t feel like this was an upgrade . However we didn’t spend much time in there as went to the spa and we were only staying for a night .

Was a really nice hotel. The bar/restaurant is very modern & well finished. The rooms / hallways are a little tired but we’re still nice. The spa was nice however wished it had an external hot tub of some sort. Staff were lovely and we loved the resident cat!
The bathroom wasn’t overly clean there were splash marks on tiles by the toilet etc which just doesn’t give the best first impression. I really didn’t love that fact 10% service charge was put on everything. We ended up paying a crazy amount in service charge as we felt it was rude to remove. I think it’s nicer to allow someone to tip rather than forcing them into it. Was a bit of a downer on the experience

I booked this and then started looking at some of the reviews, a little concerned I thought of cancelling but glad I didn’t. Usually finding out for yourself is best. Lovely venue, very clean, nice food and excellent staff. The spa was superb though and included in the stay price. So glad we didn’t miss out and look forward to staying again
