Zero
I thought I had seen it all, but this experience proved that the word “almost” is always just around the corner.
A terrible experience.
I wanted to give two stars, at least to reward those young guys who, with zero experience, are doing their best to run a hotel without management.
Unfortunately, it's impossible.
A four-star hotel that belongs to a group that manages two other hotels with the same rating.
A disaster.
During our stay, we experienced three parties, two of which were weddings.
Loud music until two in the morning.
People shouting in the garden even later. At the top of their lungs.
Three nights without sleep.
In the morning, it looked like a battlefield, with corridors full of trash.
That's the experience.
Shall we talk about the cardboard doors that are now rotten?
Shall we talk about the rusty showers?
The blackened carpet in the rooms?
The staff who clean the rooms in a matter of minutes because they can't keep up with the mess that is everywhere?
The spa would be nice, except that it's dirty.
People shouting and laughing in the steam room or in the pool. Isn't this supposed to be an oasis of relaxation?
Thank goodness they advertise the facility as a retreat from the hustle and bustle in the beautiful Gloucestershire countryside.
The countryside, yes. That's beautiful.
The rest, with zero management, is a disaster.
Avoid it and stay light years away.
Never again.

Breakfast was good, but menu was limited compared to previous stays. Eggs Benedict were excellent, but smoked haddock ???
Dinner menu. We have had an annual visit for 6 or more years when with friends we would have said we will have that tonight and that tomorrow night, but not this year. The menu was limited and the chick pea curry would have been criticised by Masterchef presenters on presentation and simplicity. Very disappointing.

Very relaxed environment. Lovely pool area and facilities
Service was a bit slow at the bar (having to wait for staff to be present), however, this is probably down to the fact they had an event on. Not a major issue

Breakfast was good, but hotel is a bit dated and I wouldn't consider it as a 4 star hotel. It needs investment and modernisation of the rooms. In the room, there was very little functionality, the TV did not allow Apple TV connection or netflix with an error message on screen.
Rooms need some money spending on them to modernise as previously mentioned. Breakfast is good and there are options which is nice. My wife eats gluten free and she had a choice but what she got in the frittata was very small.

Food and facilities were very good. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Would have preferred to have had a shower which was not in the bath.

Steam room and jacuzzi.
Not being able to book in until 4pm. Restaurant, sandwich was soggy, wasn't asked about any allergies, food arrived at different times and the table was dirty. Very expensive and not a four star service!

Spa was excellent as usual, can’t fault it. Room was lovely albeit a couple of little snags…
Shower dripped continuously in the en suite. Drains smell came through the whole time as well. Definitely needs checking out thoroughly & I suspect a whole new shower valve.
The Valentines dinner was a bit of a letdown. Main course had to be changed as they wouldn’t serve the mash. Dessert we wanted wasn’t available by the time we were served. However 2-3mins after being told that we heard the table behind us order the cheesecake and the over infact served it. Not nice being lied to! When we did order our dessert; it arrived come. The plate/dish it was served on was piping hot; but the actual dessert cold. That would suggest the food was being microwaved which is really poor for the price. We left dinner without having the dessert or the coffee/biscuits to finish. 2hr 10mins total time there and while it was busy when we sat down it seemed the service became slower as the restaurant got quieter; unusual I’d say. Very disappointed. Appreciate the restaurant manager knocked some money off our bill but I was still aggrieved to pay what we paid. Had heard other individuals complain about a number of things during service & indeed when checking out in the morning. Our third stay here and unfortunately the least memorable. Won’t be in a rush to come back for what we paid.

Great location, lovely building.
The majority of staff were apathetic. The included breakfast was sub par. The noise levels were absolutely unacceptable. There were 2 weddings on the Saturday night and the m7sic was full blast until after midnight.

Lovely building set in nice grounds. Very comfortable rooms and bar and restaurant areas.

Good location for our stay. Good spa facilities which were nice to use after a busy day .
The room was very hot as the radiator thermostat was missing. The staff tried to get it replaced but supplied a fan. Windows were opened to moderate the temperature.

Beautiful well kept building.
Rooms are scattered on a large scale so takes a while to get to the restaurant.

Very slow service in the bar and restaurant.
Coffee machine supplied in the room that you couldn’t fill up! The container was twice the size of the sink!
Don’t like the cat all over the place

The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. An issue in my room was resolved immediately and without fuss.
I would heartily recommend the food. Both the evening meal and breakfast were cooked beautifully and had just the right amount of seasoning.
I used this hotel on a business visit and would definitely stay for leisure too.
Some of the decor was a little tired but the friendliness and efficiency of staff far outweighed this.

The hotel is beautiful and all different rooms are cosy. You can enjoy the spa easily and it is a really nice one. All equipments are really modern and well made. The gym is also really good. Being with a child there is so good as they have timings to go to the swimming pool twice a day, child menu and a lounge perfect to have games while waiting for the food.
People making a lot of noise while coming back to their room really late.

Countryside , Spa (unfortunately too crowded)
The hotel is advertised as a 4-star property; however, our experience did not meet this standard. The room was not properly cleaned, with noticeable dust and spiderwebs. Sound insulation was very poor, as conversations and footsteps from neighboring rooms and the hallway were clearly audible.
The room was also insufficiently equipped. Essential items such as slippers and hangers were missing, with only one pair of flip-flops provided. Fortunately, my partner had brought his own. Additionally, the bathroom lacked proper heating, making it uncomfortably cold during winter and unsuitable for enjoying the jacuzzi properly.
The breakfast staff was friendly, and while the breakfast selection was acceptable, it was nothing remarkable. Bar prices advertised on the hotel’s website did not match the prices charged, resulting in higher costs than expected. Furthermore, the drink served contained only two small ice cubes, which melted almost immediately, leaving us with a warm drink.
A particularly unprofessional situation occurred during check-in when I received an email stating that my credit card had been declined and that the room had not been paid for. I had already paid in advance through Booking.com and had to provide a screenshot as proof of successful payment. Resolving this issue during our one-night stay was frustrating and took away valuable time that should have been spent relaxing. While mistakes can happen, the lack of empathy and a proper apology from the staff was disappointing.
We paid €214 for one night, and for this price point, a significantly higher level of professionalism and service is to be expected.
The spa facilities themselves are good; however, the area was overcrowded. No sunbeds were available, water cups and the water dispenser were empty, and towels were not provided unless specifically requested. The hotel may want to consider implementing a system to better manage capacity, as overcrowding significantly impacts the relaxation experience.

It was available
It didn’t have enough staff
Not a dig at the staff but there just wasn’t enough one lady was doing the bar and room service so always had to ask for attendance at the bar and the room service was cold the spa was the same it was busy with customers
But there was no one cleaning so the spa had dirty puddles all over it and there was no cups at the water fountain or sun loungers

Lovely location and building with good facilities.
The only thing for me which was slightly disappointing (I would probably say the same in 90% of other hotels) is that the bed was not firm enough for me and I didn’t sleep that well.

Truly appalling experience from beginning to end. We stayed here on Sunday 27/12 - luckily just for one night - and feel robbed entirely. The spa was dirty, understaffed and full of loud people. Not what we expected. Our room not up to par for a four star establishment. But the worst experience was the restaurant: 70,- pounds for truly bad food. Ingredients were stale and of suspicious quality, poorly prepared and the service completely lost. We waited an hour for two starters. Ordered the same wine by the glass but got twice a different cheap wine that was overpriced to say the least. All around people were complaining about the food, the wait and the service. When we arrived they were out of half of the menu and it was only 20h. The staff was struggling but also unproductive and not motivated. Can’t say I blame them. This is clearly bad management. We will never come back and definitely recommend you not to book here. Hopefully, the managers in charge will pick up on the multiple bad feedbacks and turn this place around.

The Spa is very nice, though how it would be with more than 10 people is debatable. The decor is very pleasant, and the hotel was very clean.
The food was very limited for what styles itself as a restaurant. We attended a family lunch function and decided to stay over and were very disappointed to see the same (quite small) menu for the evening as was delivered at lunch. Also The breakfast was in two tiers. There were options that incurred a charge, and the waiter was quite insistent that we paid at the table as soon as he delivered the food. We paid not an insignificant amount of money for these rooms (much higher than normal as it was a weekend near christmas) for the family - including breakfast. Very disappointing to be charged again!
The other issue was the dogs. I love dogs and I think it's great that the hotel allows dogs. However guests should not be allowed to go the the bar or restaurant and leave the dog in the room on its own. A dog in a strange environment on its own will become stressed. As such there were dogs barking incessantly, shut in rooms. Great to have a dog friendly environment but this hasn't been thought through.
Bar staff were also very slow.

Lovely room for the price , fine for one person. Could do with a full length mirror to see outfits .. as a guest staying for an evening event I would have liked to have seen my full outfit before walking out of the door! Room service was a bit shabby as I was told no sandwiches could be made as all the fillings were ‘off’ as the fridge had been turned off in the kitchen..?! Breakfast was good but I had to sensed my eggs Benedict back as the eggs were raw .. I think the eggs had seen the hit water for all of 2 seconds. Apart from this, I really liked the hotel and location. One thing I would say is that it would be good to have a courtesy sign up by the jaquzzi. I was using the spa facilities for most of the late afternoon and while in there , I was waiting for a large group of people to vacate the jaquzzi to let others use it. However, they remained plonked in there for the duration , chatting and taking up the majority of the jaquzzi. I could see others getting frustrated too. It’s just so selfish to hog for that long with no consideration. A maximum of 30 mins per dip should be advised verbally when booking in to use and on signage. It definitely put a dampener on the spa experience for me !

Rude woman on reception when I made her aware I wasn’t happy with the room and wasn’t happy about them bringing a roller bed into the tiny room for my son. Was not mentioned when booked! His bed was uncomfortable and basic! She then expected me to pay more for an upgrade!was her only solution to the situation no apology what so ever! Requested a nice room and was shoved in a tiny old fashioned room. Arrived at the spa to find the pool closed, was woken up at 7am with staff talking loud outside the room and slamming doors all morning and then 2 alarms going off well before 9am.
The room and the noise and the miserable staff, my son asked if the pool would be open and was snapped at my a woman I. The spa

The property was stunning and all downstairs throughout the Lounge, restaurant and spa it was kept beautifully. Hattie (the cat) was a welcomed addition.
Our room (227) was stone cold! The radiator wasn’t working & when we told the duty manager this we got the smallest of plug in radiators to heat a large room - which just wasn’t adequate.

Beautiful spa facilities and very modern setting with fresh decor. Rooms were clean and well stocked with essentials including bathrobes and flip flops for the spa. Fab breakfast… with decent coffee!! Pool was lovely and warm. Loved the little windows in the sauna overlooking the garden.
The aromatherapy room in the spa smelled like smelly feet! There was no sign on the door to say it was not in use. Not an issue as the steam room and sauna were working (with no bad smells) and sauna had little windows to overlook the garden. Jacuzzi, while a lovely temperature, needed a good clean/ flush as it was very foamy (which is a build up of dead skin cells so a bit gross but likely due to high use but does need regular full drain out rather than just topping up with more chlorine which was very strong).
