Inflexible late arrival arrangement. Management totally inconsiderate and unpleasant to deal with.

I was not able to enter the hotel. The ferry on which I travelled to St Malo arrived too late for me to get to the hotel before its reception closed. The proprietor had messaged me earlier that in order to get access I must download an app on my phone and use this at the door of the hotel. This did not work for me because it required internet access which I did not have. I got to the hotel at around 21.40 local time. There was a number affixed to the door to be called "en cas d'urgence". I called this number twice but each time there was no answer, so I was unable to get inside and had to find alternative accommodation. In spite of my having proof on my phone records that I dialled the hotel's number, the proprietor has refused to believe that I attempted to call him and refuses to reimburse me.

Location and the friendly staff. The hotel was very clean and sufficient for our stay at St Malo.

Size of room - it was very small - but perhaps sufficient for a short stay. Plus the circular stairways were quite hard for suitcases.

I mentioned to the staff that the lights in the hallways to get to the room were not working… I think they were supposed to be on a sensor. Our daughter has visual impairments and it made it even more difficult managing - already a challenge hauling her suitcase up the winding staircases. She just said they work - we never had them work. And it was a cold July day/night so I asked for extra blankets, twice, and they did not deliver. Also the WiFi did not work. One of the staff helped me but it only worked for 5 minutes. I was having a banking issue I needed to deal with and couldn’t and I did have eSIM but needed Wifi to set it up.

Peaceful Hotel

Small hotel couple of kilometers from the town centre. Hote is only few minutes walk from the shore line and places to swim. Plenty of free street parking nearby. Room was small. Peaceful location. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast was very delicious and there was plenty of food to choose from. Good value for money hotel. Highly recommended specially considering the good breakfast. Hotel staff very friendly and knowledgeable.

The family room was basic, the double room cramped and all needed TLC. There was a hole in wall where the door bangs against it and scrapes along the wall. The drains smelt from the bathroom.
