One night stay St Malo

Friendly helpful staff. Secure cycle shed, private bathroom.

Breakfast juices were extremely sweet and coffee could improve but generally good basic help yourself breakfast.

Hostel not hotel

The room was clean. The bedding was albeit consisting only of two sheets and wollen blankets they were clean. Comfy bed a good night's sleep. If you like hostels this is a good one. Staff helpful.

Firstly let me start by saying the Auberge is not a hotel as such it appears, it is a youth hostel, something that I was not really understanding when I booked! We arrived late due to a late ferry the security guard met us and let us into our room, there on the bed was a bed pack consisting of two sheets two wollen type blankets and a small pillow. It was make your own bed time. At that point our lights in our room went out and we had to leave the room and locate the security guard but to her credit she was very helpful and fixed the electricity problem. No towels they are apparently an extra €3 something we missed in the description of facilities in fact the only thing supplied in the room bedding and toilet paper the bare minimum. Breakfast. We arrived at 8:30 am to the canteen, there it was to help yourself with tea coffee cereal consisting of coco pops or cornflakes a bread roll and jam the bowl of yogurt was empty so was the bowl of fresh fruit. clearly get there early or the choice was very limited. All this for €85 ! Now if you want to stay in a hostel fine but it is not a hotel with hotel standards. Would I book again which for me is the litmus test, No, not because it was awful it was not but because I like to arrive at a hotel the beds made there are towels and the lights work.

Poor

Location is good enough. Close to the sea (3 min), and around 25 min by walk to the center. Calm area.

Service is very poor. No soap in the bathroom or shampoo. The room is very simple - 2 beds + table, WC is inside of the room (plus). I was very disappointed by breakfast. For me it was the key criteria to stay there. Looking at the picture I was expecting nice breakfast, the realty is opposite: coffee from the big tank (disgusting), bread (it was not so bad), butter, milk, jam and flakes. No fruits, no proteins (at least eggs)... only carbohydrates.

Very friendly, helpful and informative reception, nice location near beach & old town.

Great to be so near the beach with a lovely walk along the front to the old town. Clean linen and spacious room, basic facilities. Breakfast basic (needed more regular resupply of juice & milk) and fine - good to have fresh fruit and yoghurt.

Improvement suggestions: ability to turn on heaters in the room to take off the unexpected chill. Some hand soap supplied.

A basic stay .but cheap for the price really.

Breakfast was basic but its halls for students.the room was clean but again very basic.bed was with rubber on the mattress! No towels so we had to ask.but they cater really for students.

1 kettle in the room.towels in the wet room .more of a choice for breakfast and dinner for guests that are not students.

Good

I had a spacious room with two single beds in it and ensuite was clean and comfortable but very basic sort of hospital like. Elevator access was a bonus being on third floor. Good but basic breakfast in spacious clean dining room. Allow left luggage which is good. Short walk to fantastic beach

Functional and Ok

Location was good. Very short walk to the beach. And a short drive to the ferry. Place was clean and staff friendly. Parking was available off street and the grounds allowed us to picnic in the sunshine and let the kids play around us.

We don't mind basic having just finished a fortnight camping but the beds were creaky. I was also kept awake by noise in the corridors and outside. Breakfast was ok but not great - don't expect variety. Towels provided were a complete random selection of sizes so we only had 1:bath towel between us. It was also expensive for what it was although we could not find cheaper elsewhere. Forvthe best part of 125 quid a night you don't normally make and strip you own beds!

Close to St Malo.

A hostal on site of a school/college. Very little bedding, blanket and sheets and a terrible lumpy pillow. Towels are €3.50 pppn. no duvets. firm mattress had me in pain throughout the night. Bathroom was infested with ants, and at closer inspection the bedding was also covered in ants.

Won't stay here again!

Location was OK as was parking. Not much else apart from closeness of beach and ferry.

We had to pay for towels, make our own beds and breakfast was just dire. It wasn't continental. It was self service and there weren't enough utensils. The whole feel was of student accommodation from the 80s. Very basic. Beds were hospital type mattresses and uncomfortable. In the morning we had to strip the beds and take everything downstairs before we left. Considering the previous night we stayed in a beautiful farmhouse in Limoges with a double bed, ensuite and waited breakfast for the same price (once the €7 for towels was included) this was NOT value for money.
