Family Stay at Halloween

The staff were professional and friendly. The food in the bar was really nice. Service very good in the bar. Check in smooth, lovely friendly staff at Check in desk. Rooms spacious and comfortable. Good shower. Lovely spacious lobby with open fire. Best kids club we've come across, simple but our girls loved it and plenty of time for kids to play. Lovely swimming pool. Love what they have done with the dining room.

The service at Breakfast very poor. No plates, waiting for bits of food to be topped up. Had to go looking for cutlery etc. Breakfast itself was fine except would prefer bigger pot of tea and coffee and coffee to me was way too strong.

Very welcoming, but expensive and needs maintenance. Slept well.

Clean room, very comfortable beds, powerful shower. The swimming pool was excellent as well as the sauna. The restaurant staff as well as staff in general were very welcoming. Sean the owner made an appearance at dinner and we had a nice conversation.

Mouldy tiles in the bathroom and mould in the public shower area by the pool. Coffee choice was poor in the room and furniture showed a lot of wear and tear. Could only get one channel to work on the tv. The corridor smelt mouldy to our room.

Definitely Not a Four-Star experience

Nice rooms, nice location if you travel by car. Leisure facilities look excellent (we did not avail of them).

This hotel claims a four star rating, which creates certain expectations. We stayed for two nights in June. Starting with the room, we had a twin bedded room which seems to have been designed for one double bed: as a result the sockets were located behind each bed and virtually impossible to access. The room lighting was so poor one could not read a book or magazine. The restaurant/bistro was adequate, but staff training was very poor. They didn't seem to understand the difference between a napkin and a serviette. Most seemed to be part time students. We had dinner one evening but were not tempted to repeat on the second night. The breakfast was a shambles. We arrived for breakfast on the first morning one full hour before the stated finishing time. The selection available was minimal (we did not want a cooked breakfast), and there seemed to be a distinct reluctance to replenish, for example, the fruit bowl, which contained a few miserable slices of indifferent melon. We avoided breakfast on the second morning.

Reception staff lovely and welcoming. Plenty of parking, entrance nice and warmly decorated. Beds comfortable. Mains at dinner were nice.

Dining staff are all over the place. Slow service, didn't offer drinks when took our order at dinner. We had to get their attention to ask. At breakfast, we had no teaspoons, salt & sugar. No plates at hot buffet, no glasses for juice, no pastries or white bread for toast left although there was another 20 minutes left of breakfast service, milk had to be replenished for cereals. Our room on arrival was big and beds comfortable although someone else's runners and dirty socks were left under the bed, not acceptable. Entrance from swimming pool changing area to pool was dirty with wet tissues. Drinks prices are ridiculously expensive for a rural hotel. €7.25 for a long neck bulmers and €3.90 for a mineral! Needless to say, we only had one and it was obvious that others thought the same when the bar was quiet.

Bathroom tub and sink that backed up even after they said they fixed it. Wedding taking place in the lobby obstructing guest access. Partying all night woke us up at 4am. No action from the night clerk. Too far from town for food delivery service.

The Hotel is in a good location. We received a complementary breakfast for 1 adult and 3 children.

Bathroom was nice and spacious with plenty of towels and the bottled water is a nice extra. 3 single beds for 3 children was nice rather than a 1 double and 1 single bed. There was plenty of communication by text from the hotel before and during out stay.

Good, but expensive for a solo traveller

Friendly staff. Clean. Huge bed. Big rooms (not sure if they have any smaller/cheaper rooms for solo travellers).

I wanted a room for one, and that's what i Indicated on Booking.com. The room I got could accommodate four people, so I guess that's why it was so expensive. I booked it anyway as I was attending an event in the hotel. I didn't use the spa or golf course, so don't know anything about those. They may justify the price... You need a car to get to Ennis town. It's a long walk otherwise.

Good Golf, Great Stay.

Liked the staff and the helpful interactions. We had a few requests that were facilitated which was very helpful. We played the golf course and the manager in the pro shop was excellent. I recommend Woodstock golf course as a great experience. We had breakfast 2 mornings and we had no complaints. The staff were efficient, professional and helpful.

Will do it again

Harriet at the front desk welcomed us in such a warm and professional manner, we immediately felt at home. Nice property, vast room and facilities, good pub and breakfast. Easy to play golf and great location to travel around.

The bathroom and some other parts do need some maintenance. Not a big work but would make such a huge difference.

Lack of staff in the bar and restaurant. We had to wait quite some time before anyone turned up to serve us. No better at breakfast either, we went down at 09.30 and when someone eventually came to see us we were told we could sit anywhere but every unoccupied table had debris on it! We would have you this when we checked out, but there was nobody there. Breakfast was actually very good. The view from the restaurant! Over the rear car park, who designed this? At a pinch, if you craned your head, you could see a tee.
