Me and my partner have stayed at the village hotel numerous times, and it never disappoints… the rooms provide enough space, they are well equipped and always kept clean. Super comfy beds!

I called the hotel a couple of days before my stay specifically to check whether the air conditioning was working, as we’re currently in the middle of a heatwave. I was assured that everything was working properly, so I booked with confidence.
When I arrived to check in, I raised the question again and was once more assured by reception that the air conditioning in my room should be working. Unfortunately, it wasn’t. What made this even more frustrating was that there was already a fan running in the room when I entered, which strongly suggested the hotel was already aware of the issue.
After speaking to another member of staff (not on reception), it became apparent that the air conditioning problems had existed before my arrival and were not a new issue.
As a result, I had no choice but to leave the room and request a refund, as the room was simply not suitable to stay in under those conditions.
The most disappointing aspect of this experience was not the broken air conditioning itself—these things can happen—but that I was repeatedly told it was working both before I booked and again at check-in. I consider it fundamentally dishonest to reassure guests that a key advertised facility is fully operational when staff appear to know otherwise. Had I been told the truth, I would simply have booked elsewhere.
A thoroughly disappointing experience that could have been avoided with honest communication.
