The room I was in number 24 is at the bottom of a door way which is very noisy. Also the radiator in the hallway was banging all the time I had to turn it off. The pillows are very hard and thin so very uncomfortable.

Big spacious rooms

Breakfast was véry limited, only filter coffee and slow service. Asking to refill the standard pastries was something they couldn't think of themselves. Would not recommend! Also, ALL lights were constantly flickering, especially distracting amd annoying in the evening at the bar/ restaurant area!

A nice stopover

A nice stopover for a flight the next day. It's a little remote but the parking is free and the rooms are perfectly adequate for my purpose. The room was well equipped and it was great to laze in the bath after a gruelling journey.

A few things could be improved. My room was not in the main block. I arrived at night and had to park in the main car park which meant I had to walk across a very dark area and across a very dark country road which was full of puddles to get to my room. Not very safe. There is parking outside the block in which I was staying but I was told that it wasn't for guests (although I did see other guests ignoring this). The area really needs more lighting and a proper crossing point. The room is very nice but not well sound insulated so every aircraft departure could be heard deep into the night.

Nice but ruined as unable to get showered before our flights

The property was lovely the room in the main house was quite dated and bathroom was a bit grubby. Mould spots and no hot water.

Many have mentioned the noise of doors closing etc. I can sleep through anything, so it didn’t keep me awake, but it might disturb others. Plus planes right overhead - but it is only a mile from the airport, so hardly a surprise!

A nice stop with fantastic value.

The location of the hotel itself, relative to Stansted Airport is a massive bonus, especially if you plan on driving to the airport. The room we had was spacious and quite nice. The building itself is also very pretty.

Obviously, as the hotel is so close to the airport, it can be quite loud at times, so take that in mind if you have trouble sleeping when there's a slight bit of noise. However, for us, it was no issue.

A perfect place to rest and relax

Beautifully designed cozy lodge .We were three adults.The third bed was in a small room separated from the main one by a short passage which was nice for our daughter to sleep in.The room was spic and span. Sleep quality after a long flight was perfect. Would go back there with no second thoughts

Nice place close to Stansted Airport

The house is very nice. Everyone working there is very friendly. It has a relaxing atmosphere. Definitely best to come by car as there is nothing close by to walk to. It's very close to the airport. It costs 20 pounds to take a taxi. For us that was perfect and easy.

Perfect stay before or after a flight

Situated close to Stansted Airport, this is the best place to stay before or after a flight. The welcoming staff, good food and the comfort of the rooms made us choose Hallingford Manor every time we fly from Stansted. A short walk in the garden can be very relaxing and the water fountains create a magical atmosphere, especially in the evening.

All the rooms that we stayed in had fixed head showers. Handhelded head showers might be easier to use.

Great team, great hotel. Highly recommend.

Stayed for 4 nights last week. Neil, William and the rest of the team are brilliant. Hotel really clean and well-appointed. Noise from the airport has very little impact and hardly noticeable. Nice walks in the vicinity. If you want to get into Stortford or Great Dunmow, the bus stop is close by at Start Hill with connections every 20 mins or so. Highly recommended.

Good parking.

Room very small. No heating in bathroom. Shower control difficult to operate. Bed small. Tv very poor signal and unusable. Low flying aircraft directly overhead throughout night (not double glazed). Disturbance from other people outside room at 2am.

We stayed on Xmas eve and was not told that breakfast on Xmas morning finished early so we missed breakfast on Xmas morning which was very disappointing

Slept well, ate well and would return.

Characterful building with attractive wooden interiors, beautifully decorated for Christmas. Very convenient for Stansted airport. It’s under the flight path, but we slept really well thanks to good bed and thoughtfully provided earplugs. Decent food in restaurant. The grounds looked nice, although we didn’t have chance to explore.

I don’t trust these car parking companies. We’ve entered are registration number before (at other locations) and still been fined. It remains to be seen whether we will be this time…We entered it twice just to make sure.

I would go back as it was value for money but only for a night or two, I wouldn’t go for a long stay

The setting was lovely, hotel clean and comfortable , lots of parking

Noise, doors banging people stomping in and out , near the airport so planes very low overhead, I know nothing can be done about that but to say a nice quiet setting is not so, sleeping difficult because of noise, ok for a short stay but I wouldn’t say more than a couple of nights Breakfast was disappointing and the staff not very helpful

Exceptional hotel

The gentleman that checked us in was polite and very informative. The rooms are beautiful and spotlessly clean. We ate in the restaurant and the food was absolutely delicious and the serving staff were fabulous. We only stayed one night to catch an early flight from Stansted (hotel also organised our taxi) but would love to stay more. An absolute gem of a hotel and just 5 mins from the airport.

A very good place to stay in the Stansted Airport/Bishops Stortford area.

An amazing old classic manor! It also had pleasant park-like surroundings and a nice dining area with views of an ornamental lake. It also has extensive car parking out the back which apparently suits many people flying out of the nearby Stansted Airport for a few days, i.e. they can leave their cars there. Next time, I would also like to explore the town of Bishop's Stortford.

It is down a back road outside Bishop's Stortford. There are local bus services to Bishop's Stortford that come down this road now and then, but if you are flying out of nearby Stansted Airport you will, realistically, have to get a taxi which costs about 27 pounds each way.

Excellent hotel, great location for weekend breaks and airport stops.

The venue is excellent, very picturesque and the grounds are great. Very easy to find with free parking for guests. Staff are excellent and the bed was very comfortable. Will be staying here again next time we are flying from Stansted. So much better than a run of the mill branded hotel chain.

Unfortunately, the hotel is directly over the flight path, so if you don't like the sound of planes taking off very regularly then this hotel isn't for you. We stayed for 2 nights and by the second night you do kind of get used to it and it isn't 24 hours. We both managed to sleep well even with the windows open.

The mattresses need urgently updating they are horrendous to sleep on. If you copied Premier Inn and adopted the mattresses they use, you'd be very highly rated! The other downside is the breakfast. Very poor selection choice, only sausage, bacon and dry scrambled egg on offer..... where was the beans, mushrooms, black pudding, fried egg, hashbrown options?

reading lights above head of bed didn't work. No fan for bathroom. Cooked breakfast was very poor. dried up scrambled egg. General feeling of scrimping. plates for cooked breakfast were minute. Only one chair in bedroom and insufficient space to use it without blocking way to bathroom.

Don’t recommend due to aircraft noise.

The room was comfortable enough though there was a lot of dust and grime in the corners. Bedding and towels were clean. Definitely not 4 star though. There were problems with the TV constantly buffering which was annoying. The main issue was the aircraft noise. This place is directly under the flight path and there is no sound proofing at all. Where the planes don’t fly all night they didn’t finish until gone 10pm and they start again at 5.45am. It was like trying to sleep on the actual runway. Also the shower was scorching hot in the morning and not possible to turn it down so too hot to use.

An excellent countryside stay on the doorstep of an airport!

The staff were friendly. I arrived 15 minutes before the restaurant was closing, but they still made sure that I got a lovely meal … and had a chat with me too. I loved having breakfast looking at the lake and then after breakfast (which was excellent and included black pudding) I had a little walk around the lake. This was most unexpected bearing in mind I’d only chosen the hotel because I had a flight from Stansted, which is only 10 minutes away.

Great hotel near airport with parking but a lot of aircraft noise

Lovely hotel , room was a good size and comfortable ...and the bathroom was huge with 2 sinks and a great walk in shower. The staff were friendly and very helpful . Great location for an early flight from Stansted .

The aircraft noise was very loud but we had read reviews and expected this , there were earplugs provided in the room .
