We loved everything about the cottage, it’s ancient familiarity, it’s beautiful worn woodwork, the beams, the thick walls and its history,
It’s in the perfect location for the southwest lakes in an enchanted woodland garden with walks from the doo into the fells through magnificent bluebell woods, it has its own beck for relaxing next to and a little “secret” garden surrounded by fragrant azaleas and rhododendrons.
We loved the 3 spacious bedrooms and 2 large bathrooms.
The lounge was roomy with plenty of comfortable seating and a log burner which we would have liked to have used but we were blessed with perfect May weather! The central heating is so efficient that the cottage always felt nice and warm, in addition the large scullery is perfect for drying walking clothes and boots.
The beds were comfortable and the linen nice
My partner was so happy to be back in the house after 50 years and finding so many of the original features he remembered, his Great Aunt and Uncle used to live there.
I loved the fabulous wide staircase and landing.
Nothing!
Because we knew the cottage prior to staying we were aware of its position on the road, (the cottage was there first!!) and therefore we were not troubled by the traffic.

It was a very cosy cottage, we felt at home. It’s dog friendly with an enclosed garden. The kitchen is well stocked with crockery and utensils. Great value for money.
The bathroom could do with an update especially the shower over the bath. The shower is good but the bath did not drain well. I pointed this out to Louise and said not to worry we will live with it. So I am not complaining but it did take the edge off showering. Maybe something to check between lettings.

This cottage was absolutely beautiful so comfortable like home from home set in lovely woodland with stream running close by nights in the lounge with roaring log fire what more could you ask for.the hosts kindly decorated the cottage for Xmas for us honestly if you get the chance to book this DO.short drive to Haverigg beach through Millom where you have tesco and a few restaurants would definitely recommend
