This cottage is an absolute gem and one of the most unique places we’ve ever stayed. Located in the peaceful village of Beckermet, it offers the perfect escape while still being ideally placed to explore the Lake District. The stunning wooden features throughout create a warm and cosy atmosphere, and the tree at the centre of the cottage is truly special — a magical, one-of-a-kind feature that makes the space feel beautifully connected to nature. Outside, the lovely garden is a tranquil spot to relax and unwind. The cottage is also extremely dog-friendly, which made a huge difference for us. It felt genuinely welcoming rather than just pet-tolerant, and the surrounding area is perfect for scenic walks straight from the doorstep. What really elevated our stay were the owners, Peter and Zoê, who were incredibly helpful, responsive, and thoughtful throughout. A particularly memorable touch was the treasure hunt they designed for our children — such a creative and kind idea that made the stay extra special and unforgettable for the whole family. This is far more than just accommodation — it’s an experience. If you’re looking for a place with heart, originality, outstanding hosts, and a true family- and dog-friendly atmosphere, this cottage is an absolute must. We left feeling relaxed, happy, and already planning our return.
There was nothing that we didn't like, the place and the hosts have exceeded our expectations

We absolutely loved our stay here. The home is so cosy, the perfect location for our hikes and the White Mare pub across the road is a big bonus too (great karaoke night!) We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay or better hosts, they’re both so friendly and accommodating and even went out of their way to come to the house one night to help us figure out the tv! Truly lovely hosts and we’ll definitely be back! Xx
N/A - it was perfect!

Great idea of the cottage just not executed on this experience
Damp and mold on bathroom wall and skertings
Stains and cobwebs and drawings on walls
Holes in walls
Skerting hanging off
Loose wire by back door that’s a trip hazard
Just a major let down on this occasion 😕

Very well stocked kitchen with everything you need for a relaxing stay.
Beds very comfortable and extra blankets were a nice touch.

Beautiful, warm and cosey. Amazing garden. Lovely stay.
Just be careful what days the near by restaurants are open/closed.
However, kitchen fully equipped so just come prepared and you’ll be fine.

It was beautiful and comfortable to stay in. Had what we needed for a comfortable stay.
The private garden had a right of way through it which meant it wasn’t private as neighbours used this as required throughout our stay which is obviously fine. But when booking I assumed it was fully private and wasn’t aware that a dog would be using it to get out. As a result of the reality we had to have dogs on leads the whole time which was a shame a private garden was our main criteria, as one of my dogs is a rescue and reactive to other dogs.

Everything was amazing. The house was unique and comfortable. It had an old time vibe but was equipped with all the modern technology which was great. The garden was a special highlight and when dusk fell, the lighting brought it to life and added a touch of magic. The furniture was comfortable and we just adored everything.
Not applicable, everything was spot on.

Our only gripe! Was that a toilet would have been handy upstairs and at times we were a little cold otherwise everything was brilliant and we are 100% returning

The property was so beautiful and there were a lot of little touches that made it quite magical. It's unlike any place we had ever stayed and the garden was incredible. The hosts were great with communication throughout and we had no problems checking in or out. The instructions were clear and easy to follow and the recommendations for trips were really helpful.
The only thing I could pick fault with is the blinds in the bedroom don't block out that much light in the morning so we woke up with the sunrise however it wasn't too big of a deal.

I would recommend this place to anyone who wants a comfortable base to explore the Lakes from! It had everything we needed and was very cosy. I stayed in February and made good use of the log burner (although the heating did a good job too!). My dog loved it there too. The garden would be lovely to make more use of in summer, and the pizza oven!

We spent New Year as a family at the Tree House and absolutely loved it. It is a rare find that we would definitely recommend. So many little touches that added to the experience. The main bedroom is amazing! The tree house is warm, cosy, romantic and everything you need is there. 10/10!

Super clean and comfy place. Loads of technology and had some fun with Alexa. WiFi excellent which is needed as no phone signal around there. Good friendly pubs for a drink and food and a pool table!!
Not much, the coffee machine took some figuring out but got there in the end and that was more us than the machine!!

The warm, rustic, instant cosy feeling when entering and staying in the house.
The smart Alexa device is fun and really provides the mood for the evening with dimmed lights.
Never used a log fire so it was a bit scary but loved it all the same.
The village is friendly with a great country walk around the corner, other local villages nearby including the coast.
Very minimal and picky - the sugar packets were a bit hard and maybe past due date, I'm not sure.
Me and my now husband asked if anything special could be added as we went for our minimoon (we would of course cover any cost). We were advised there would be but unfortunately nothing was there when we arrived.
There's no longer a gift shop in Gosforth, this was advised in the welcome folder, so it just needs to be updated.
Again, nothing that spoilt our stay!

Clean, well decorated house. Nice garden. My son liked treasure hunt game.
Room for children has a boiler installed. At night it was very unpleasant to sleep with that noise. Main door jammed. We had to use the other door which was hard to carry luggages. Received couple of messages about the door while I was climbing on the mountain which was annoying. Anyway. Nobody came to fix the door. My small trip was ruined (not to mention 7 hour drive to reach this place). It is also far away to lake district. Roads are very twisty we were sick while we left.
