This place was awful. As soon as my children and I arrived we noticed an overwhelming smell of wet dog. It was disgusting. The towels and bed sheets had strange orange and black stains all over them, as did the curtains, the fridge was broken and dirty and had hair inside, the crockery drawers were dirty and again had hair in, there were food crumbs under the table. I messaged the host about the towels and sheets and fresh ones were provided, but they too were dirty. One blanket in particular was reeking of wet dog and was dirty so I moved that away from the beds in the hope it would lessen the smell. It didn't. We had two nights booked but after struggling through one (during which we used our own blankets) I couldn't make my children endure more so we left. As we were leaving a dog tried to get into the lodge and when I closed the door it sat there whining for a while - probably the dog that had caused the smell originally because the door had been left open when we arrived and it had been raining. When I messaged the host to say we were leaving and why he said "That's a shame" then gave some lie about a burst pipe being the cause of the smell - there's a difference between stagnant water smell and wet dog - and there was no apology. Luckily I did get a refund, but the experience ruined the holiday for my children and myself.

Great little place to stay so much so I am returning.

Location great for morning drive to both of Pembrokeshire industrial sites. Simple layout works well and in this heat the aircondioning was appreciated on the first evening.

Only one pan and the lid does not fit. The bed is great but would love a Reading light.

Exceptional

Everything, we loved our stay. The host was there to meet us on arrival and showed us to our lodge. It was beautiful. The host was exceptional and had put put out special touches for my partners birthday. We had access to the hotter which was fabulous. Can't wait to stay again. 12 out of 10 from us. Thankyou for an amazing time.

Very welcoming, gorgeous area and cosy home from home

Lovely cosy little lodge with all the things you need. Beds are very comfortable, kettle worked a treat and the area is beautiful. The resident dog was an absolute treat too 😊Very friendly and welcoming-loved it!

My only criticism would be the curtains in the main room behind the table-they were not long enough and the glorious sunshine came through straight into my eyeballs on the pull out bed 😊

Rustic stay in a tiny house nearby Castlemartin/Pembrokeshire Coastal Path

We, a group of 3, stayed for 1 night at The Lodge during our hike along the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path. For other hikers on the path: The Lodge is in proximity to the path (ca. 1 mile) and is very close to the alternative path in case of day shooting on the nearby military firing range. So if you are planning to stay somewhere in this area during your hike, this is a good location. Overall, The Lodge offered what we were expecting from the pictures here. It is a small tiny house with everything you need, especially when you are staying for one night. For a group of 3 there was one chair missing, but you could sit on the single bed instead. We did not use the kitchen, but it seemed well equipped and included a kettle and tea. The lodge is surrounded by another house and presumably two additional lodge-type accomodations. Yet, it is somewhat in the middle of nowhere which you might like or dislike. We had only contact with the host via digital messages as the key to the lodge was inserted into the lock as we arrived - as agreed.

The single bed was sagging, so might not be for every experienced back ;) The bathroom is small and there are beginnings of mold on the bottom of the shower curtain. This is also due to the fact that the water is only slowing running off the shower.

the host was willing to help me get inside the lodge, the beds themselves were not bad at all

Flies and spiders everywhere, toaster and kettle hadn't been cleaned in ages. There was a dirty curtain in the shower. Also, every window lead to a place where it was too easy to see insice the lodge, so to achieve privacy I had to close all the curtains. TV was not connected to the antena. Overall, I ran out in the morning as soon as possible.

Exceptional

Outstanding! The host was absolutely fantastic with us! I can't emphasise this enough! He kindly took us into town and offered to pick us back up refusing payment for the kind gesture he'd just offered us. Such a beautiful and friendly place I would definitely book with Dave again 😁 let me into his home for a cup of tea with a local from down the road. We felt very welcomed and had all the privacy we needed didn't bother us at all even when we was being about Loud due to us having a drink 🍷 so I would like to say thank you but also sorry. There was also a women there who worked there or was a friend of Dave's and she directed us to a lovely quote surf beach 🏖️ beautiful place and beautiful people. The hot tub was lovely and warm, I liked the fairy lights that was a lovely touch especially having a table outside and a barbeque to cook our food on.

Quiet but very remote area with disappointing accommodation which was overpriced.

The quietness was the main plus.

Lodge was in need of refurbishment. It bears little resemblance to the online pictures. The outside area was untidy. All the Facilities were well worn and the hot tub looked like it needed a good clean. It was overpriced for what we had there.

Lovely stay

When we arrived, dave the owner was there to greet us, he was very friendly and helpful, he showed us how everything worked and even made us a cup of tea. We really enjoyed our stay the cabin was clean and equipped, we didn't have an iron but dave got us one straight away! The hot tub was lovely and it was really peaceful. We would definitely stay again and would highly recommend especially for the price 10/10

Pleasant

The host and thier dog was very nice and friendly, they provided us with extra wood to burn as the weather was really cold 🥶, I gave it a 6 because the bed was very uncomfortable and ended up with back pain, mostly for my wife who is pregnant 🤰. The location was great as everything was a drive away and overall was a good experience.

Worth it

Disappointing

Great communication and direction to get to the property from the host. The property had the basic we needed including coffee, teabags, sugar and milk. It was warm enough that heating wasn’t required.

The property could’ve been cleaner and more presentable such as ensuring the bed sheets are clean and fresh, towels are clean (I.e checked for no hair or bleach mark), the tap in the shower room isn’t leaking and the door handle is fixed so that it can be turned easily. The standard of cleanliness and freshness could be improved including having more ventilation.

Not what I was expecting.

It was quite cute inside. Fairy lights. Host did come put to say hello and seemed friendly.

It was freezing cold on arrival and took a long time to warm up with the fan heater and log burner (lucky my partner knew how to operate the log burner or we would have frozen). The single bed was so uncomfortable, felt every spring. Expected at least some milk to be able to make a cup of tea but all that was available was tea bags and sugar. I booked mostly for the hot tub only to find out it was extra and not turned on anyway. Meaning if I was to pay the extra it wouldn’t have been clean or warm enough until the morning. This was not clear in the add and I had no idea I would have to pay extra. Also the lodge is located on the owners doorstep with another adjacent and one behind. Not private at all.

Amazing, perfect, relaxing, just what we needed

We were met on arrival by the dog and David, he showed us the property and how everything worked, left us lots of firewood and was very courteous throughout our stay but the best bit was the hot tub, it was perfect and just what we wanted for a relaxing night away from normal life, we would definitely return

The track to the lodge would be difficult to negotiate in a sports car or low slung car but even that wouldn't put me off returning its just an honest answer to the question
