About this cottage rental
A charming native stone cottage located on the south side of St. John, at the edge of Fish Bay with unobstructed views into the turquoise water of Reef Bay extending east to Rams Head with St. Croix to the south in the distance.
The cottage is perfect for honeymooners, couples or small families looking for a easy, romantic getaway. Second bedroom available on the lower level with separate outdoor access, not suitable for young children/guests needing supervision.
Just beyond the cottage, a few minutes by foot to the National Park trail that leads down to beautiful, sandy Reef Bay beach. Ideal for snorkeling when the seas are calm or surfing when the waves are up.
Whether you are traveling as couple or two, Reef Bay Cottage is a convenient drive into town or a few minutes more to many of the Virgin Islands National Park's north shore sandy beaches.
Main level of the cottage has dining room/area with the kitchen, living room, bedroom and private outdoor shower. The comfortable, traditional queen-sized mahogany, four poster bed is elevated. A spacious vanity/desk accented with a native stone wall located between the bedroom and bathroom with views on two sides. Enjoy getting ready with ocean views directly in front of you.
Bathroom has white marble counter top and mahogany cabinets. Separate door leads to the outdoor shower, private and fully tiled. Enjoy sun-filled showers or starry nights.
The living room is furnished with a very comfortable, fully upholstered sofa and arm chair. Enjoy movie nights on the flat screen television.
The kitchen has granite counter tops, mahogany cabinets and stainless steel appliances and gas grill is located outside on the leeward deck. Well furnished with cooking utensils.
The cottage is fully air-conditioned and stocked with beach towels, beach coolers, reading materials and a hat library for those who prefer to pack light.
Step out onto the windward deck to enjoy the sunrise ocean view or sunset reflecting off the whitecliffs while sounds of the waves reaches the sandy shoreline. During winter months, keep a look out for whale migration.
The second bedroom on the lower level is furnished with a queen-sized, hand-carved mahogany headboard from Tanzania, indoor bathroom and shower to one side and laundry room on the opposite end. This second bedroom is not intended for younger children/guests requiring supervision due to separate outdoor access.
The pool is located up the hill, on the grounds between the cottage and main house. Guests can enjoy the use of the pool, exclusive for cottage guests use during their stay.
Reef Bay is a sandy National Park beach. To access, walk just a couple of minutes, 100 yards +/-, to the trail head. Agility is necessary due to the uneven steps to the beach. Please note other sandy beaches are easily accessible along the North Shore, about a 20-minute drive from the cottage.
Owner/Manager reserves the right to refuse rental to any party at their complete discretion. This rental is located in a residential neighborhood, please respect noise level in the evenings.

We kindly ask guests to please wear cover ups if you are not on the beaches, patronizing any businesses or walking around town. Bathing suites alone are frowned up and you will asked to cover up. Also please remember not to block roadways if you are parked around town, your vehicle becomes a hazard when it blocks the flow of traffic. We want you to have the best experience of our quaint little island, should you have any questions or doubts do not hesitate to contact us.

This cottage was perfect for my family of three. We took the main floor bedroom and our 18-year-old daughter had the lower level. Our host, Seng, was very helpful and has great attention to detail! She knows the area well and gave us advice and recommendations many times. We enjoyed our stay immensely!

Everything my husband and I could want at our fingertips. Super clean and well looked after. Comfortable indoors and out. Fabulous view with a great almost private beach minutes away. Great helpful host. Hard to find a better place on the island.

Reef Bay Cottage is an exceptional property offered by an outstanding host, Seng.! The listing pictures almost do it justice! The cottage was very clean and well equipped. Offers sufficient space to gather (we had four total people) and the split level allowed us to spread out when needed. The pool was very refreshing and easily accessible. The neighborhood is very quiet and a pleasant 10-15 min drive to Cruz Bay or Coral Bay. Seng was an excellent resource for St John and St Thomas and provided many thoughtful treats. Thank you, Seng - hope to stay with you again soon!

This is the lowest rating I have ever given a property but this was just not it for us. Starting with the positives:
Cottage was cute and bed was comfortable. It was also clean when we arrived. The view out the back was really pretty. Most all of the houses on the street were really nice and it felt safe. It was very quiet and peaceful.
Now the negatives:
Last time we visited our villa owner greeted us at the rental car location and we followed them to the villa. It was getting dark and even with GPS the actual road you turn on is marked horrible. We had paddle boards delivered and the company warned us of how awful it was to find and gave us more details then Seng did which helped get us down the right road but then the house is also very hard to find in the dark so we had to call Seng. When we got in the house was 84 degrees! We texted Seng when we were on the Ferry and she could have easily turned on the AC and ran the fans to make our arrival more comfortable. She then asks you to turn the AC off (3 thermostats) every time you leave and when we didn't do that the first day she texted us to please turn it off making it feel like Big Brother which is not what you want on vacation. The front door was so messed up when we got there but we managed to get it shut and locked but one day we were going to be late to our charter so we texted her to ask her to lock it because it just wouldn't shut. She said why didn't you tell me this when it first happened. We told her on day 2 and we really just like to lay low and not complain and just enjoy vacation and thought we could deal with it and make it work but she made us feel like we broke the door which is very unprofessional. She had just told us that the clients before us were so hard on everything and blew up the microwave so my guess would have been it was them. We had our 16 year old daughter and her friend with us and the lower bedroom has no tv and very spotty internet so they were very bored in the evenings when we ended our day and that would be the biggest reason this place is not for us. And the view out the back is stunning BUT the pictures don't show how bad the electrical poles are running right through the view. That really takes away from the view. And the pool! We wouldn't step foot in the pool! Water is murky and there are 2 other houses around it and it doesn't feel private at all. Next time I will book in Cruz Bay. Reef Bay is just too far removed from everything.
