Big family house

spacious, comfy beds, handy for the pub, lots of fire wood, sunny back yard

Few things missing - barbeque and outside table not there as stated, which would have been an issue if we were staying longer. No lighter/ matches for the fire. Could do with comfier garden furniture . I messaged the host about checking in earlier and got no reply.

Disappointing

The location was great, the facilities were good and there was lots of books etc

There were sticky marks on kitchen worktop. The csrpets were very frayed and coming away from the floor and they were badly stained. Behind the tv was dirty and the skirting boards were in a dreadful state. Couldn"t get the grill to work as dials had no markings left.

Very good short weekend break for families to catch up with young children

House great for two families for a weekend and excellent location with a childrens playground just over the road. Couldn’t find travel cot on arrival and housekeeper quickly came and rectified this for us.

Television did not seem to work other than Netflix and the toilet kept making a noise like it was filling up and running water every 10-15 minutes

The house was perfect! The fire was incredible, there was lots of firewood.

The fire was amazing. There was a lovely park over the road for our children and they loved paddling in the river. The house had plenty of Wellington boots and extra coats incase you needed them. It was lovely and clean and there was plenty of room for our 2 families.

It’s remote so it’s a good drive to the nearest shop but we had stayed here before so brought food and drinks with us.

Fantastic property

Facilities were fantastic, the location is amazing and the host very accommodating. Unfortunately due to a regional storm we had no electricity for our Whole stay, however there were two log fires and candles so we got by and added to the experience.

Very good location, perfect for a short stay in Weardale, and close to the hills.

Well equipped kitchen, loads of wood for a fire, spacious sitting room and good size bedrooms.

Parking was a bit tricky, but that was only because we have three cars for the fours of us.

Great accommodation for friends / two families. Good value for money.

Very spacious. Cosy & comfortable. Lots of board games, piano, guitars. Quirky accommodation. Good location, opposite pub. Clean and comfortable beds. Clean bathrooms, plenty towels & face cloths a bonus.

Difficult to work the oven as the dials had worn off and couldn't find instructions. Some areas could have been cleaner, namely the kitchen utensils, cupboards, drawers.

Large house perfect for a big family or group of friends who enjoy the countryside.

Good communication and easy access. Loads of space for four friends to spread out. Very well equipped and easy to find everything. Plenty of towels. Cosy, comfortable space, perfect for walkers. We enjoyed the chairs and fire pit in the back garden.

Just a small matter - light bulbs need checking, one of double bedrooms and the standard lamp.

Fun cottage to stay in, lots of extras (from games and books, to a piano and guitar, to wellies, first aid kits cooking essentials!). Comfy beds and a lovely little setting.

We stayed here just for 1 night but wished we were staying longer .A fab location with beautiful surrounding countryside The cottage was beautiful with all the facilities you could wish for and more . The outside space was nice and backed onto a field with peacocks chickens and rabbits bouncing around just beautiful Would return for sure

Everything - it’s perfect for a relaxing holiday

Nothing really, we couldn’t get the heating working for a bit so it was quite cold but we were advised to bleed the radiators and this sorted it out and there was lots of wood for the fire! The pub opposite is shut FYI.

Other than the oven, facilities and equipment very good. Everything you need. Nice welcome basket. Location great for walking. Lovely River walk. Relaxing and quiet. Netflix and Amazon prime availability, excellent. Bathrooms and kitchen were clean. Nice area to sit outside.

Covid hygiene rules not followed. Example, soft furnishings and leaflets. Can't read oven controls. The writing has worn off the controls. This was a problem Pillows were solid. Fortunately we brought our own. Need to invest in new ones. Website misleading re parking. There is no private parking. Have to park on the road up from the house.

Lovely place to stay while exploring the North Pennines

The location and property are amazing. Nature walks on the door step. House is very spacious, comfortable and lots to do inside on a rainy day. Wellies and wood for fire are a bonus, thank you

Only one thing could have been better. Black dog house is a pet friendly holiday cottage but I did not enjoy the smell of the sofas. Some washable sofa covers could much improve the experience.
