The shared kitchen and dining room were great. Lovely place to stay.
Taps in our bathroom sink (Jorvik Room) were temperamental. The tap washers seemed to be sticky. Water would come on at high pressure and splash out of the sink before you had a chance to turn the pressure down.

Clean, comfortable and in a beautiful area. Local amenities include a chippy and a cafe. Tea and coffee in the room.
The WiFi was a bit unpredictable which affected this tv. Not the biggest problem in the world - only mentioning it in case it’s a fault.

Beautiful Lodge. Comfy rooms. Secluded on a farm so quite and away from the busy centre of york.
With it being secluded, everything is a short car ride away. The country road down to the lodge is poorly lit and with large deep pot holes so would give caution at night especially. We stayed in the grand old duke, lovely room, however one of the windows was slightly broken allowing wind in so cold and loud on windy nights.

The facilities downstairs are great, really homely and immaculate.
The beds are not the comfiest and 10am check out is killer

Location, bed was reasonably comfortable, self check in was straightforward
Difficult to find especially at night. Access road was littered with significant pot holes that were hard to avoid especially at night. Parking on a muddy field so had to clean our shoes. Beautiful bath but had to be filled from the shower which took a very long time. TV in room in a position at 90degrees to the beds which meant you had to sit on the end of the bed to view it properly. Kettle in room was full of limescale. Had to strip bedding and put in commercial laundry bags which I would not expect for the price paid

Great facilities - the kitchen had everything you needed to make drinks, a snack or a meal, whichever you fancied; room large and comfortable, and very clean; lovely view out to fields and very quiet, and close to York Park and Ride and designer outlet. Good value for money.
This is not a criticism, only a suggestion: an extra light above the seating area would be useful for us old folks so we can see. 😊

We were the only guests there most of the time so we had the whole ground floor to ourselves: a fully equipped kitchen, enormous living room, dining room.
The bed was not the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in but otherwise the accommodation could not be faulted and was amazing value for money.

We had such a lovely stay here and would happily return again. From the moment we arrived, everything felt welcoming and well cared for. The accommodation was spotlessly clean, and the kitchen was very well equipped with plenty of utensils – everything we needed for a comfortable stay.
We especially enjoyed lighting the fire and having a cosy evening in – it made the whole experience feel extra special and relaxing. The bed was very comfortable, and we slept well overall. The grounds are beautiful too, perfect for a peaceful stroll and enjoying the surroundings.
It was also lovely meeting other guests, particularly Andy and Anna, who were a pleasure to chat with. The cleaner was very friendly and helpful, which added to the positive atmosphere.
The only slight downside was that we could hear other guests enjoying themselves at night, but it certainly wouldn’t stop us from coming back.

I really liked my stay at deighton lodge. It was well maintained and the facilities were of top notch. The staff was very welcoming and pleasant. I would definitely suggest deighton for a day out or even a night in.
the only problem that we had was the location. you have to walk for a while to the nearest bus stop, and since we did'nt had a car it was quite an issue. But If you have a car then it will be an enjoyable experience.

Good location a short drive away from York City Centre. Overall building was very nice and would be suitable for a large party where you want separate rooms
Stained bedding and road leading up to the property was filled with very large potholes causing damage to my car

Beautiful house and lots of facilities. Parking was easy and the room was lovely.
Bit difficult to get to when it’s dark. The sign is very small and easily missed!

The lodge was lovely. Access to the room was from the outside code check-in. Everything went smoothly. Access to the main house was a nice touch. The garden was great for the dogs. Bed so comfy. Great shower. Would stay again!
Just a few suggestions perhaps add a gate top of the stairs to the castle room. This will help those with dogs. Highlight the entrance to the driveway with illuminated sign so easier to find. Illuminate the driveway.

Easy check in, friendly host, comfortable bed, warm room, quiet location, fridge was a bonus.
Approach up a rough farm track which needs holes filling in but managed to dodge most of them. Parking was in a field which was quite muddy due to the weather. The plumbing in the bathroom needs attention but was reported so hopefully will be fixed.

It was advertised as dog-friendly
Room not as advertised, nothing like photographs. Dog struggled with steep staircase.

Quiet, clean and large room.
Very difficult to get in and out in busy times. Missed the sign at the entrance even though I’d been there before and it took me another 10 minutes to try to get back again.

We love the garden and beautiful kitchen, dining and living room areas. Our room was beautifully curated and very peaceful and also spacious. We had our big dog with us and there was lots of room

Lots of room throughout the lodge so we didn't feel cramped. The rooms were big enough for a family and having a fridge in the room was helpful. Having access to the communal areas, especially the kitchen in order to clean and sterilise baby's bottles. It is quiet even being situated just off the main road. Easy to check in and the hosts were informative.

The location to getting into York is amazing. Room was lovely and had all we needed with a 17 month old. In fact he slept better there than he did at home. Room was clean and so was our bathroom. Beds were comfy too.

Beautiful property in gorgeous grounds. Fantastic facilities and wonderful room.
The only thing is that there appears to be quite a fly infestation. When we returned to our room last night, there were upwards of 30 big black flies buzzing around the room. The window had been open while we were out on account of how hot it was yesterday, but there was no food out or anything that would attract that number of flies that we could think of. Unfortunately this really did impact our stay as I spent an hour and a half trying to rid the room of flies. On the plus side when I went to the kitchen there were 3 cans of fly spray on the counter, so this is obviously a known issue. I know these things happen but a heads up from the hosts would have made it much less stressful!

We had a wonderful one-night stay just outside of York. The accommodation was on a lovely farm, which was perfect for our dog to run around and stretch his legs. The room was cozy and had everything we needed for a comfortable night, including a comfy bed, a good shower, and even a tea kettle and fridge. Overall, it was great value for money, and we would definitely stay again!

Beautiful place
Though everything about this place was lovely, the bedroom did miss a slight personal touch. Eg A little shampoo or something like a biscuit, would have gone a long way.

Check out procedure - Full list of tasks to complete before you check out. Don’t mind stripping the beds but having to bag up and take it to a drop off point is too far. Empty bins and take it outside for them. You go away for a break? Especially when check in is quite late at 3pm and check out is at 10am and you’re doing most of the work of the cleaner.
The handle to switch water flow from between the shower and the tap was missing. As a result had to fill the bath using the shower head for our toddler.
The cold water tap on the sink is stiff and requires reasonable force to turn off.
No blinds in room, cream curtains which let all light in. Very difficult for little one to sleep and early wake up.
Room generally tired and in need of a serious deep clean (spider webs and dust) and redecorate.
No soap by the sink or shower gel in shower
Highchair in kitchen completely useless due to being broken so was not able to be unfolded.
