The View Apartment

The View from the two balconies were out of this world with the sun setting across the water above Dubrovnik. The town of Cavtat is beautiful. The property is well laid out with a bedroom and bathroom upstairs (bathroom accessible without going into the bedroom) and a bedroom and bathroom downstairs. The sofa bed means more people can stay (though not so comfortable as the beds). The main living/ dining and kitchen room face the fabulous view of the sea and islands and headland. The kitchen is fairly well equipped with lots of pots and pans but it didn’t have a small knife for cutting or many matching bowls/ plates (especially if you are using the dishwasher). It was great to have a dishwasher and washing machine. The air conditioning throughout the property worked really well and was a must in June. The airport is very near and the Uber ride was around €12 so it made for a quick, cheap and easy transfer.

The area behind and to the side the property isn’t very attractive with some building work going on but it didn’t detract from the benefits of the views once inside. The lovely views meant the property is elevated and a fair walk from the main town (about 20 Minutes) which was fine on the walk down but I recommend an Uber/ Bolt ride back. We combined our trips back up hill with buying a few groceries and then getting a ride (around €8) back up the hill (it wouldn’t have been a problem walking but for the heat). We stayed 8 nights during which no cleaning took place. I had assumed it would be cleaned during our stay. There were no spare sheets. We had to deal with ant like creatures a few times coming in through cracks in the patio door frame and in the skirting near the front door The kitchen spray killed them off so we could sweep them up later. The furniture on the balcony was very low down and not especially comfortable. A table and chairs to eat outside would have been great on the lower balcony.

A little dirty when we arrived, dishwasher not empty, cutlery draw was filthy, saucepans milk/egg crusted to bottom. (Cleaned everything ourselves). Dirt by doors and dusty bedroom bedside tables. All laundry (towels and bed linen) smelled of stale water, which was very off putting and made to rooms smell musty. Downstairs Bathroom shower head kept popping off and spraying the ceiling so switched it with the upstairs shower head, the thread just stayed on that hose, so fixed that. Upstairs toilet wobbled and seat slides off pads to one side. Location is a building site. Overall the worst accommodation we stayed in on our two weeks in Croatia.
