The breakfast was excellent, as well as the location. We had a wonderful afternoon relaxing in the formal garden. The fireplace was also great on the second day when colder weather rolled in.
For the price point, the bed was not acceptable - it was somewhat uncomfortable, and a king size would be preferable. It was also disappointing to hear from our fellow guests that they (as SA citizens) had paid a substantially lower rate for accommodation than we had. There was no mention of this on booking.com (some hotels do mention this). I am not criticising Jonkmanshof but rather what is becoming common practice in South Africa - basically if you are not a SA citizen, you get ripped off. End result, I will still travel to SA to visit family and friends, but am spending less on hotels and 'holidaying' in SA and will rather book hotel stays elsewhere in the world.
