The Hamptons In Montauk

I'm in the Hamptons most weekends April-October and have been renting / staying in different properties over the years. Susan's house is hands down my absolutely favorite place I ever stayed, and I feel so fortunate to have had the opportunity to rent from her. We were a small group of friends renting her place for all of June and it was just incredibly special. The house more than checks the obvious boxes - the location is FANTASTIC, it's a super short stroll to one of the most beautiful private pristine beaches in all of the Hamptons. It's also walking distance to town as well as Gurneys, one of my absolutely favorite places out there (one of prettiest resorts in Hamptons that has all amenities you could dream of - and from the private beach which Susan's house gives you access to, you can just sort of stroll in). Susan gave us a beach parking permit, but we didn't use a single time since it's literally a 2 min walk. But could be nice if you're trying to do say a bonfire on the beach - and a lot of owners won't give out those permits since they're impossible to replace. Susan's place however didn't just check the standard boxes - I think when renting, it's critical to pay attention to whether the owners actually spend time in the house themselves, or whether it's a house exclusively used for rentals - that will make a huge difference in terms of quality of the furnishings on the inside. It was so obvious that Susan and her family spend a lot of time in the house and treat it with love and care. There's beautiful finishings everywhere, the furniture is incredibly cozy & super nice, the towels were softer than we had ever seen (if you think Four Seasons has good towels, you're in for a treat! I asked her right away where she got them), the sheets amazingly soft (Egyptian cotton I think), nice air conditioning and perfect wifi throughout the property. Kitchen fully stocked with literally about 15 different sets of plates and glasses (perfect for hosting dinner parties). Perhaps most importantly, Sue and her husband Joe, as well as their whole family, were so incredibly kind to us with anything we needed. We texted constantly and any concern we had, they would help right away. They went well beyond what would ever, ever, EVER be considered standard - for example I broke my bike out there and Joe went to fix it for me a weekend he was in town! They are the perfect hosts and I feel so fortunate I got the opportunity to rent from them.
