Welcome to Fern Forest Hale - A 3 Bedroom, 2 Bath Vacation Home Near Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Volcano Village and Golf Course!

This beautifully decorated newly constructed home is the perfect locale for sightseeing the east side of The Big Island. From here, swimming and snorkeling one of the many beach parks in Hilo is a 20-30 minute drive and the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is only 5 minutes away and open again to the public, with a whole new look!

Ferns & Frogs Forest Hale sleeps 6 comfortably with a king bed in the master, and queen beds in the 2 guest bedrooms. The master bedroom has its own large private ensuite bath and walk-in closet.

The living room boasts a large, L-shaped, comfortable reclining leather sofa with a decorative fireplace, (fireplace out of order) large flat-screen TV, and gorgeous new artwork by famous local photographer, Harry Durgin!

The large kitchen has everything you need to cook those fantastic island meals, and the dining room table seats 8 comfortably. There's also a gas grill, outdoor dining, and a hammock chair.

The Hale also has all of the modern amenities that you would want in a vacation rental home including satellite TV, high-speed internet, washer/dryer, and more.

This is an adorable home perfect for our week long stay in Volcano. It was the perfect size for our family of 4 and located in a quiet neighborhood. There was room for all of us to spread out and have our own space. It was clean and comfortable. My only downfall was the king bed has a hard mattress, but that means I must be getting older and need the perfect one. Ha! I would recommend this house to anyone looking for a quiet, relaxing place to stay in Volcano.

We stayed here for Volcano natl park, and it was absolutely great. Half hour from Hilo beaches but only 10 mins from the volcano. If you have the park pass you can easily pop in to see the eruptions etc.The house is very nicely furnished, spacious and clean. It made for a very relaxing stay. The pheasants may come visit you if you sit on the verandah in the morning, or maybe you'll see some wild boar like we did. You will certainly hear frogs at night so maybe bring some ear plugs.The neighborhood is rural and quiet, you cant even see the neighbour's houses.

This is a beautiful home, with an updated interior and a great lanai that goes almost all the way around. We loved the tropical setting. There were mixed feelings about the noise from the frogs (I loved it, my son not so much) but overall my family of five had a wonderful time. I particularly appreciated the fully stocked kitchen since we cooked most of our breakfasts and dinners. The property manager was very helpful, with easy check-in and check-out procedures. It's fairly remote so you will need to pay attention to the instructions on finding it. Overall a very positive stay. It's a bit of a haul to get to Hilo and other spots on the coast but I would definitely recommend for families interested in visiting Volcano National Park.

What an amazing place to stay, super clean and comfy - and it was a 15 minute drive to the Kilauea overlook where we could see an active eruption of lava - incredible!! The proximity made it possible to go in the middle of the night and still get a good night's rest. Kitchen is well stocked, and the living area was super comfy. Thanks for sharing your home with us!

We had a wonderful stay here! Probably the cleanest VRBO we have ever stayed in. If you are looking for plenty of space for your family (we had 6 in our party) with nice accomodations in a private secluded setting, this is it. The yard was gorgeous, and we loved the wrap around deck & all the windows to enjoy the Hawaiian jungle all around. Peaceful & comfortable, the perfect place to unwind after exploring Volcanoes National Park or nearby Hilo.

This home was clean, comfortable, spacious, and private. The wrap-around lanai was one of my favorite features. We enjoyed staying at the higher elevation; it was a nice escape from the higher temperatures near the coast. We're so happy we chose this rental.

Nice, simple home very conveniently located to the town of Volcano and the park. Well equipped and maintained. Property manager was very responsive, the internet wasn't working for the first day of our trip but she helped us get it restored. Highly recommend!

We loved the house. Clean and cozy. Very close to Volcanoes National park, easy drive to black sand beach, green sand beach, and southern most point in the US. The only issues we did not prepare for were the 40 minute drive to Hilo and the cool nights in February where the house was chilly in the mornings. There are space heaters in the closet, but we didn't see them until our last day. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting a comfortable place "like home" that is in a quiet rural neighborhood. We will definitely stay here again if we come to the Hilo or south side of the island.

Everything was easy from check in. We loved the space both inside and out. It was a longer drive into Hilo than we expected, but the upside is we saw more small communities and did most of our shopping at the little markets. All in all, we were very happy with everything.

We had a wonderful stay here! The house was clean, comfortable, well-stocked, and conveniently located. Very easy to get to the Volcanoes Park. We loved hearing the birds and frogs in the morning and in the evening. Felt like a true tropical experience. Highly recommend this place.

Beautifully furnished house with everything you could ever need. Nice quiet area tucked back into the forrest. The unpaved road to house got very muddy in the rainy season. It was only minutes away from Volcanoes National Park, which was great.

On any day you could drive 10-15 miles and have a complete change of weather. Take time to drive to Naalehu and enjoy the shrimp plate at Aloha Mix Food Truck and the bakery across the street from it, YUM

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We really enjoyed the house. The description online was accurate, and the house generally met our needs well. The house was very clean and had plenty of room for our family of five. We loved the isolation of the house, and the quiet neighborhood. It was fun falling asleep at night. My only critical feedback is related to the condition of some of the appliances. Both the washing machine and the coffee maker were broken when we arrived at the property, leaving us unable to clean our clothes or make coffee the first day there. The property management company was responsive to texts the first day or two, and brought a replacement coffee maker up to the house. Unfortunately, they were unable to find a repair technician or or a replacement washing machine in the first 48 hours, and didn't give us any further updates for the duration of our stay. So, we ended up having to spend a few hours driving to a separate laundromat in order to clean our clothes. If everything had been in working order, we would have been entirely satisfied with our time in this rental property.

We wished there was a larger frying pan/skillet when cooking breakfast for our group of 5, but we did fine using 2 smaller pans.The property manager was great, readily available to answer any questions we had.Overall, this was a terrific place to stay, and we'll definitely consider it for future visits to the Volcano.
