Our "Blowhole Bungalow" is aptly named for the migrating spouting whales that can be seen from the beautiful, open great room picture windows. And also for the naturally occurring blowhole formed in the rocky coastline just a few blocks from the house.

Just a few blocks in the other direction is a sandy beach for playing, kite flying, tide pool exploring, etc. All within easy walking distance.

The Blowhole Bungalow was designed and built in 2000 to be a welcoming, warm, comfortable and cozy escape for our family. It has been our getaway destination in all seasons of the year where we have treasured our fun and unforgettable times together, and we trust you will find that, too!

The title says it all. The Blowhole Bungalow was a slice of heaven. The house was cozy, comfortable and clean; the location was ideal for us (a short walk to the beach and near several great restaurants but a little out of the way of the busy part of town) and we can't wait to get back.

Blowhole Bungalow offered my husband and I (both who turn 80 this year) a beautiful, peaceful and inspiring retreat. Windows look out on a lovely, serene garden with the Ocean beyond, which reminded us a bit of our past vacations in Bali and Hawaii. A path leads through a garden gate into a lane leading directly down to the seaside road which has little traffic. On the walls of the house hang a number of moving and expressive woodcuts, and on side tables, a collection of finely painted colorful lighthouses. We had a difficulty checking in which was hard, but the property manager responded with utmost care and generosity, which touched us and rested our sense of upset over the event.

Nice, but could use a few upgrades. We left a note for the homeowners and Odyssey Vacation Rentals. We hope the homeowner follows up on our suggestions. Linens such as sheets, towels, bedspreads, bath towels, kitchen towels, and throw pillows. The living room furniture is also looking a bit worse for wear. We know there are costs involved with owning a short term rental, but sometimes homeowners just need to do a little re-investing. Guests appreciate a home that looks like someone really takes pride in it and isn’t just throwing used furniture in it. The home itself is so cute and doesn’t need much to really be a great place to stay. We would love to return in a year or so to see how improved it is. Thanks for an easy reservation process, Odyssey.

My husband, daughter and I enjoyed our stay at the Blowhole Bungalow. The house was clean and spacious. It was in a great location. We were able to walk into town on the Oregon Coast Trail. I enjoyed having coffee in the morning looking at the giant waves crashing in off in the distance. The house is in a very quiet area. Easy to get into the house. An overall wonderful holiday stay.

It's a nice house, in good condition, in a great location. Air conditioning works well. But the kitchen in particular was not clean. The oven was kind of disgusting, we decided not to use it at all and instead took food over to another house to cook it. There were still coffee grounds in the coffee maker, and leftover coffee still in the coffee pot. There was something disgusting in a bathroom drawer.

My husband and I had a fabulous visit to Yachats, where we stayed in Blowhole cottage for four nights. It is beautifully located very close to the ocean, w a lovely view out the huge picture window in the living room. It is roomy and comfortable and very clean, despite some carpeting tht should be replaced. The strange part included a statement on the welcome email w the keybox code. The rental company stated that they do NOT provide any paper supplies, including toilet paper, paper towels, kleenex, or any personal soap for washing hands or showering. This struck me as very bizarre, as when one pays a price of $300 plus per night, one expects basic paper supplies to be included…and what vacationer doesn’t need to wash their hands and take a shower?! I called to inquire about this & was told that actually there WOULD be paper towels and toilet paper, & the rental person said he would also provide kleenex…but no soap other than for dishwashing or laundry. How weird! Every VRBO I have stayed in for years has included all paper products, including kleenex, plus soap, usually shampoo, & usually body lotion as well. It is a courtesy to provide these items & much less inconvenient for the rental company than for the renter! There were 3 large screen tvs in the cottage, w multiple remotes, but no directions as to how to use them. Frustrating. Asking renters to wash & dry towels before departure not okay. Still, nice cottage. Enjoyed Rummikub

This house was amazing!! We are a family of 6 with 4 kids under age 6. The home was very inviting a comfortable for us. We all marveled at the nautical theming throughout the entire home. Everything was very clean and well organized. The kids loved staying in the room with the ocean themed bedding and lighthouse nightlight. The view and access to the ocean was awesome. We loved waking up in the morning to watch the ocean and walking down to the beach to play in the sand. We loved every minute of it and hope to come back again soon! So much fun!!

Location and house were very nice, would definitely stay again. Ocean Odyssey was very pleasant to work with, although odd payment system, and they were able to let me get in a bit earlier. However, there were some frustrations that I want to note hopefully for the Management company to improve. 1) It was really hard to tell what to bring, as the generic management brochure said they don't supply paper products, like coffee filters. There were a *ton* of filters available, probably because everyone who has stayed brought some and left them. We noted someone said they were happy that they brought toilet paper - so we brought some too, in spite of thinking how sad it would be for management to skimp on that. We didn't need to bring any for the 3 nights. It looks like they supply one extra roll to go with what's open already; plenty for 2 people and 2 bathrooms. 2) The lock box hanging on the door is so old school. It's clunky and hard to use. when I did get it open, the key fell out and my heart stopped when I saw that it dropped onto a wooden deck with gaps. One wrong bounce and it's gone. At least place a mat underneath! A door mat would be good to clean your shoes off before entering (owners ask you to remove shoes). 3) We couldn't find any cutting boards. It was only by happenstance that on our 3rd day we happened to look above the refrigerator. The board was big (plastic), I can see why it might want to go above the refrigerator, but at least leave some smaller one(s) where people normally look. or place a sign/note? I actually looked in the cabinet above the refrigerator, failing to see the board sitting below it (color blended in with fridge top. 4) As others have noted, the over-the-stovetop microwave is usable, but not nicely functional. Hacky epoxy jobs were done to hold the door together and also fill cracks in other areas; the display doesn't work, so you fly blind. Relative to the quality of the rest of the house, this stands out as pretty miserly to not fix properly or replace. 5). The 2 "leather" recliner chairs in the living room were too gross to want to sit in. Both chairs had large black spots/stains where your head goes - I'm not sitting on that and leaning back! Fortunately, there's other chairs and sofas to sit on. It's just another thing that stands out because of how nice the rest of the house is. I'm still giving the house 5 stars because all the other positives easily outweighed any of our frustrations.

So many windows and open concept Floorplan, was very cozy...quite comfortable furniture. The four of us enjoyed our stay very much. Would definitely stay again. We really enjoyed this rental. The house is very spacious, would be great for a family or two couples traveling together. You can see the ocean from house thanks to the floor to ceiling windows. We walked into town for dinner and were able to drive to so many hiking spots from our location. The highlight was being near the ocean, beach combing and watching the sunset! We stayed here with family while visiting Yachats and other parts of the Oregon coast. Pros: The house is very large and has tons of furniture options (we moved it around to fit our needs) and even has a separate "den" with a TV. Overall the house was clean, and although we brought extra paper products, there were enough supplied for our use. Glad we brought our own body soap. The ocean is only a short walk from the house, making is really convenient for walks. Views from the house are great. Con: Please get a new microwave. The existing one is broken and the display doesn't work.

-The property and location were great, as advertised. 5 stars there. -Communications were terrible. We literally spent weeks trying to contact and confirm the second payment and our vacation. No response until we escalated to VRBO. -Payment process is terrible - the management requires you to communicate the PIN by email or phone, no online payment, for both payment installments. After the second payment our credit card received several fraudulent charges fortunately stopped by the bank. This was the only use of that card for several months so quite clear where the issue arose. Never again - great property but not worth the hassle and risks.
