There is a bench at the edge of the property perfect for those sunny days to sit and watch the waves crash along the rocks below, watch the whales spout, or watch the ever changing sunsets. Property very old. Furniture old and uncomfortable. All appliances worked well. The back yard s a mess. The shrubs obscured the ocean view from the house which sits way back on the property. The replaced windows were nice but several were missing their screens. The location was perfect.

Such a delightful cabin right on the cliffs. 50 feet out the back door are amazing rocks with crashing waves. ocean view from the living room and the kitchen. Overall just delightful and a quiet neighborhood for walking.

This is a classic beach house- a little quirky, cute, water view and walking distance to town. The house had everything we needed and we had a great time there. We had some great wave watching from the bench on the property and we took some great walks- you can walk to town one direction and eventually to nice walking path the other direction. This is a great little house!

A bit chilly drafty - the floor in the kitchen is wet by the window from a leaking roof We pay a cleaning fee but that doesn’t include laundry what seems strange to me but a fun stay great location to town and trails

The retreat was quiet, comfy and cozy! I adored the ocean view from the kitchen window and the privacy of the space and the homey vibe. Just a short walk from the door was the big blue Pacific, and a bench to sit upon and savor it all.

We spent two nights at Doc's Retreat and really enjoyed our stay. The rental was really clean and had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable - we did not use the pull out bed. The bathroom was clean but really small, and you kind of had to squeeze yourself in. It's an older house with no overhead lighting, so the kitchen/dining area in particular were a little dark - we were doing a puzzle at the table and had to bring one of the living room lamps into the kitchen. The backyard has a spectacular view, but we were a little disappointed that the usable space was so small. We wanted to spend more time outside in the evening, but there most of the yard is covered in shrubs with just a park bench and small patch of grass at the end, so it was only really suitable for 2 people max to be out there at a time. The pictures of the yard are accurate, but we just thought the usable space was going to be bigger. There are also no side gates to keep children/pets contained in the backyard. The location is also great. We were able to walk to restaurants and had easy access to the bluff, and it was an easy drive to hikes and sandy beaches.

Not at all fancy, but had everything we needed, including a killer location just above the surf for all-day views. Easy walk to the shops and restaurants. Just a few minutes north of Cape Perpetua. Everything was very clean.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Wonderful place to stay for my great grandson's birthday. We have had family reunions in the Yachats area since the 1970s. My only complaint is the "sleeper" couch. My daughter and her husband had to put the mattress on the floor, and even then it was not comfortable. Please do not advertise this as a sleeping option. Even as a couch, not folded out, it is too short for one person to sleep on unless they are pretty short. Loved watching the waves come in, and only a short walk to paths down to the rocks/beach (depending on tide).

Love being able to watch the waves from the living room or kitchen table. Only complaint is the couch/hide a bed is not sleepable. My daughter and her husband put the mattress on the floor, but both were sore in the morning. Please don't say it can be used as a bed. A short person could sleep on it as a couch, but not that comfortably (I'm 5' 1") and I tried it. Saying it could sleep 6 is false advertising.

We really enjoyed the view and location of this house. My only complaints by is that if you really want to do some good cooking the kitchen pots and pans are not very good. Could use an upgrade in this area.

A older home with an odd entrance, once you walk inside the home it’s cozy and very functional. No recent remodel, older furniture, but we fell in love with Docs retreat in quick order. The main bedroom has a high profile height firm bed that is very near the single bathroom. The second bedroom has a softer bed and a very small closet, and is on the other side of living room. The kitchen is fully stocked with silverware and dishes, pans. A dishwasher and w/d make the stay completely fuss free. There are exceptional views from the kitchen and living room windows, though the backyard bushes were a bit overgrown when we were there. The back yard is deep, but the observation bench is easily accessed by a cement walkway. There are books and movies and dvds..all the electronics you need, cable tv with Netflix, and other smart tv features. A wood burning stove in the living room, though we didn’t use. Every room has a wall heater that warms you up quickly. A vacume cleaner is available in the hot water heater closet if your stay is long. We stayed 3 weeks and would go again in a heartbeat. One caveat, we told property mgrs about a broken blind in the living room, they didn’t offer to fix the blind so we placed it on the sill, and had sun in our eyes for 3 weeks. We didn’t complain but it was a nuisance. For that reason I gave a 4/5 rating.

As some others have said in their reviews, this place could use some TLC, however the important things (to us anyway) were great. The place was clean. The bed was comfortable. Everything worked in the bathroom and kitchen. And the view from the bench in the backyard is stunning. We had good weather and enjoyed a few meals right there on the bench.

Very comfortable & cozy, I call it a beach cabin vibe. Very clean and well stocked. The outside and particularly the entryway could use some TLC, but ignore it, it is not reflective of the inside. Comfortable furniture and bed, we especially appreciated the excellent lighting! Perfect location for visiting Yachats, no more than a half mile walk to anything. We did not use our car all week. Excellent eating i n Yachats.

While they allow pets there is no grass. Front and back is some shrubby plants..we knew the ocean views would limited because of how far back the house sits but then these shrubs blocked it even more. It would be ok for a couple days but we were there for 3 weeks. Inside and furniture typical of some lower end rentals we have stayed at before. Love staying in the village so we can walk. Good location for that.but we come here for the ocean views so the lack of that and no grass is why we will not stay there again.

Shower is quite small and the washing machine very finicky. The view from the outdoor bench is not only amazing, but the crashing surf brings a sense of peace and calm. We've visited Yachats from Texas for 10 years now and would be delighted to stay in this home again. Walking distance to town and exceptional food is easily accessible. The 804 trail, Cape Perpetua, Heceta Head and other excellent hiking areas are nearby.

It fit our needs and expectations perfectly. The kitchen was very well-stocked, if somewhat haphazardly organized. The bathroom was small but had plenty of towels. The beds were comfy. The location was ideal. The downside was that the windows are small, so a good cross-breeze was impossible, and the window in the bathroom doesn't open at all. Access to the sandy beach through a nearby park was convenient, and the nearby 804 Trail provided access to a rocky beach. I'd stay here again.

The cabin is a bit rustic, but the views were amazing and all the restuarants and shops were nearby.
