The Overlook is nestled into the west facing slope on the edge of Yachats overlooking the Yachats River. It affords an uninterrupted view of the river as it flows into the Pacific Ocean kicking up the surf over a broad tidal beach, spouting horns, and rocky outcrops. This home has it all: the peaceful serenity of ocean views plus easy walking distance to the beach or the bustling center of town. Whether you’re in the mood for dining out, watching a movie, or simply unwinding from your fast paced life, at The Overlook you will find the best of both worlds.

After viewing the spectacular sunset from the wrap around balcony or through the ceiling to floor windows in the living/dining area, you can relax in the comfortable living room, cook in the gourmet kitchen, and watch TV or movies on the 40” High Definition LCD panel TV.

You’ll sleep comfortably in the master bedroom king sized bed. The en-suite bathroom has a jetted tub, separate shower, and large walk-in closet. Downstairs the guest room has a queen sized bed and shares a beautiful bath that includes a large tub with enclosed shower. The 3rd bedroom is set up for the kids with a bunk bed that sleeps 3 and a futon that could sleep 2 more. It has its own 36” TV plus DVD player!

Leave your car in the ample parking and walk two blocks to the local restaurants and shops. You can visit Luna Sea Fish House to buy your fish or dine there. Close by is the Green Salmon where you can have a cup of organic coffee or tea. Across the street is C&K market for all your grocery needs. Yachats has it all: a Sunday Farmer’s Market, an ice cream shop, gourmet wine shop, bakery, fly fishing shop, general mercantile, and more.

It is also an easy walk to both the South Shore Tidal Beach for fun in the sand and the North Shore 804 Trail which follows along the Yachats spectacular rocky coastline. The Yachats community is especially proud of the newly inaugurated Amanda Trail which winds its way south to the top of Cape Perpetua.

Dogs love the beach and are welcome to join you (2 Maximum) at The Overlook. The balcony can be closed off so your pooch can securely lounge in the sun. There is also a kennel in the garage where your dog can sleep comfortably while you are off shopping or beach combing.

We pride ourselves on our cleanliness. All of the bedding is washed after every rental. We take particular care after we have dog visitors. Our cleaning staff takes the extra time to steam clean the flooring plus they find and remove every nose print from the numerous windows!

I and two friends stayed in this house for a week in late October. It was perfect for us and two dogs, with 3 bedrooms *and* 3 baths, which is quite unusual for an affordable rental on the coast! The beds were very comfortable, bedding and towels lovely. The kitchen is stocked with good quality cookware, utensils and dishes, and prior guests have left a lot of condiments and spices in the cupboards. Best part - the most fantastic views of the surf meeting the river! Whatever the weather - and we did get to experience some intense squalls as well as gorgeous sunsets - it's ever changing and thrilling to watch. There were a few minor maintenance issues that have been brought to the owner's attention, although nothing that spoiled our stay in any way.Just a note that there are two flights of stairs to get into the living area, so if you have mobility issues you'll want to stay elsewhere. But that view was well worth the climb for these old bones.I would definitely stay here again.

The views from the house are awesome, and it was great being close to everything which make this place special. Jetted tub was great and worked perfectly, did not run out of hot water like other places we’ve stayed. The place could use a few updates, such as working lighting around the front door and porch, and grill needs upgrade. Metal pans didn’t cook well. Ice maker ice had a strange taste, and the downstairs TV didn’t work for anything. The maid was still there for two hours after our check in time, and they scheduled a plumber to come fix the sink in the kitchen during our second day. On our 4th day maintenance workers were parked in the driveway when we came back after a beach trip. They were told to move something while we were there, making it the 3rd annoying disturbance during our stay. Lastly though it was a pretty good price for what we got.

The Overlook is an absolute gem just like Yachats itself. The house sits just above the main drag with sweeping views of the River and ocean. It’s comfortable and has some good sleeping options. It’s easy to sit out on the deck and just take it all in. There are several aspects of the home that could use a little extra love such as functional shower heads, a well loved pet house, a leaky garbage disposal, etc., however the pure charm of the place overshadows any issues.I would stay here again and hope to do so.

The Overlook provides a perfect location when staying in Yachats whether for 3 days or for 2 weeks. During our 2 weeks we loved starting each morning with a dog walk to the local sandy beach. Morning coffee and pastry at the Green Salmon was just a block away, as were out-to-eat options at the Luna Fish House and Drift Inn. Plus the grocery story is just a block away. We loved that daily walks allowed us a choice to access the rugged rocky coast or miles of sandy beaches. Of course, we always loved returning and spending time at The Overlook with its comfortable amenities and amazing view!

The place was as advertised. The fully furnished kitchen was great as we prepared breakfasts and at least two dinners here. Each of us had our own room and a large common room was used for games and just watching the tides change. The outside grill could use an upgrade but we were still able to use it. We walked down to a restaurant and to the grocery store easily as well as to the beach. Nice. I was nervous about getting the code for the door lock but it was provided in time and there was no trouble. We had a great stay in Yachats.

We have stayed here several times for spring break and it never disappoints. The location of this house makes everything fun to do in town, walkable. The view is breathtaking and the house is comfortable for our whole family. We jokingly call this, “our beach house,” because we have stayed here so much, and we will do it again!

Yachats was good. Big storm rolling throughout our stay so we hunkered down, played games, and enjoyed this lovely place. Store and restaurant and coffee shops within walking distance. The view was spectacular. Watching the storm for our 3 days days was dramatic but we felt safe and sound. Coming from Alaska and Montana my family of 8 enjoyed it very much.

The Overlook is a well located property in Yachats. The views from the house overlook the river, bay and the Pacific and are 10/10 spectacular. The home itself, is well-stocked and comfortable. Now the bad stuff, the owner, Chris, never sent us the code to get in, so we were standing outside in the pouring rain for an hour. The properly Manager,’s number, was not available, so my son-in-law had to canvass the neighbors until we could contact the property manager. I was so frustrated, I contacted VRBO, which gave us a small refund for our trouble. The owner does not live in town, so there was a lot of deferred maintenance. Porch posts wobbly, a fireplace that did not work, as well as a microwave (the owner contacted me about that one and said she would pay for a new one, which we considered, but thought we could live without). Our family loves the small town of Yachats and visit every year, but we will not be staying at The Overlook again.

The property was nice and clean and the location was great. I was not contacted with check in instructions, I contacted the number provided and after several called they answered and were rude and unable to help me access the property. Finally figured it out but it was stressful and delayed our departure for vacation. I did not appreciate the 10:30 check out time, 11 is standard. There was a list of cleaning instructions not provided when I booked which I did not appreciate. I thought it was no longer allowed to charge a cleaning fee and ask the guests to clean. Traveling with young kids with a check out time of 10:30 and laundry/dishes to do makes for a hectic morning. I would appreciate this property if they drop the cleaning ask and extend check out to 11

Although an exceptional view and very walkable location, there were some misses. Missing lighting at outside entry and in hallway, out of order microwave, no hangers in closets and truly uncomfortable futons. Also beach access is a drive away and close by, walking to a beach outlook is achieved in minutes. Some bed linens had stains, some mildew-smelling towels. I paid the charge advertised and in full a month prior to our stay. About 2 weeks ago I noticed the same property we had booked for $28 less a night. Our stay was off season and spanning weekdays and weekend. Why were we charged about $30 more/ night? Vrbo and host didn’t give me an adequate explanation.. Probably would try other lodging if I visited again.

We've stayed here a couple of times. BEAUTIFUL view and cozy home. Also, it's walking distance to all the fun stuff in town. And you can spend hours at the tide pools justbdown the road. The locals are also very inviting Couple things that need improved: we never got the email this last time letting us know the code for check in or number for property manager. I sent a message to the owner via VRBO that was never responded too. Fortunately, I had saved the emails from our previous visits and was able to find the code to get in. Otherwise, not sure what we would have done. 13 days we stayed and no response from the owner. Also, the microwave is broke. Didnt know that until we pulled in. Thankfully we brought our air fryer in lieu of having a microwave. But it would have been good to know ahead of time. Also some of the furniture in the living room could use updating. Otherwise, its a beautiful view and very cozy

Bed upstairs very good. Downstairs bad. No TV in basement master bedroom. VERY limited paper products and plastic garbage bags for daily trash. Good washer/dryer cheap detergent. Limited bath, hand and kitchen towels.

Great location, pet friendly. My daughter got married in town and had a bigger rental for her spouses family. I rented this for her siblings my partner and I. Smelt a little stale upon arrival but that dissipated with opening the windows. This house is well equipped with anything you could possibly want or need.

We gathered in Yachats to relax and catch up. It was a perfect spot where we could walk to the ocean, visit the tide pools and watch the beautiful sunsets. There were plenty of State Parks and cute tourist towns nearby to drive to for things to do. The kitchen and living area was great for cooking and relaxing. The bedrooms were nice, but better set up for a family with kids than all adults. But the beds were comfy and the rooms were quiet. We would recommend this property for a relaxing getaway.

Beautiful location, nice quiet neighborhood. Flowers all around! View was amazing from the deck or the interior of the living room/kitchen area. Bedrooms had nice linens, tons of beach towels, kitchen was equipped with everything you could need for the weekend or longer. I would highly recommend this place for a family get away, our elderly ladies did have help up and down the stairs. But the main level was great for them, to enjoy views and sleep in the master bedroom. We had a very enjoyable time and are planning the next trip at the Overleaf :) Oh and the air hockey table, pool table and the ping pong !! So many good books, games included too!! LOVE IT!!

The view from the property was spectacular, and the kitchen was well equipped. Walking distance to downtown was optimal, and the home itself is well constructed, which muffles any noise from highway traffic. Please note that the driveway is a bit awkward (is on an incline) and difficult for larger vehicles to maneuver. I would like to give this home 5 stars all around; however, there was an issue with check in - did not receive email, text or call with lockbox code and had to resort to speaking to one of the neighbors to acquire a phone number for the property manager. Also, there was a very strong scent of cat urine upon entry, so we opened the windows and aired out the house as best as we could. I would like to mention some minor upkeep issues that could be taken care of, such as replacing lightbulbs and some touch-up painting. Despite these issues, I would stay there again😊

This rental had everything we needed. Games, bikes, beach towels/chairs. The kitchen was well appointed, has every gadget you could imagine and plenty of fishers, pans. Platters etc… The thermarest toppers on all beds were super cozy. The house was very clean and the views were amazing. Location is perfect for walking downtown and to the beach. We have rented many homes in Yachats over the years many right on the ocean but this one was pretty special. Looking forward to Thanksgiving next year. Thank you!!

This was the perfect place for us to stay for three days while attending the Celtic music festival with friends. The location couldn’t have been better as we were able to walk back-and-forth from the property to the community center for all the events. Although the house is quite dated in terms of furniture and appointments, the views are fantastic and the space is cozy. The kitchen has all the necessary things for making meals and is even equipped with spices and condiments! We would definitely stay here again!

We had another great stay at the Overlook, a modern house with beautiful views and close to lots of great walks. There were a few light fixtures out, over the kitchen sink and undercabinet lights near the kitchen sink. It wasn't so fun washing dishes in the evening. I left two messages with the property manager and never heard back.
