A great place to stay with a truly friendly staff.

The place is very well equipped. It has two pools, a sauna and a cold bath. The staff in the kitchen is exceptionally friendly and helpful.

The sauna was not cleaned and the pool was also a bit dirty. Other than that, we’re quite pleased.

Lovely tranquil stay in a beautiful setting close to Ubud

Staff were lovely, welcoming, helpful, responded promptly to messages prior to our arrival and checked us in when we arrived in the middle of the night. We pre-booked a taxi on arrival from the airport through booking.com which worked really well & highly recommended- good communication. All the drivers seem to use WhatsApp and there was free wifi at the airport to make contact on arrival. Really good breakfast included that was made to order from daily menu and served at the large dining table shared with other guests. This was nice and didn't feel intrusive at all. Comfortable rooms with mineral water provided that is safe to drink and mosquito net over each bed -didn't experience any mozzies but brought Deet repellant in case. We had 2 rooms side by side for our young adult `kids' and my husband and me. Beautiful rain forest setting and lovely yoga shala for guest use.

Located a bit out of Ubud centre and tucked away off the road so it was a bit concerning when arriving late at night wondering where were going. We didn't feel safe walking along the narrow, windy, road to the nearby little restaurants at dusk/night due to the traffic and no footpath, but the staff assisted by helping us to order takeaway for dinner that was delivered. In the light of day it was fine and very nice but we still got a driver to take us into town. The reception couch could do with a good clean but otherwise the place was kept very well. No guided yoga classes provided unless you are attending as part of an organised retreat.

Can't recommend it enough... Will come back!

My stay was absolutely fantastic. The staff were very helpful and kind, and the setting of the retreat was perfect. The room (private balcony one) overlooked the rice patties and forest... an amazing setting for just chilling out with a book or having breakfast in the morning. From the check-in to departure the stay was also very well organised, and the included breakfast alone, was enough to make the trip special (not to mention the cold bath and sauna!) Will definitely be coming back in the future!

Location is about 10mins from town by bike, but of you hire a bike/grab its a very easy route.

Relaxing stay in an amazing location

Great location, staff is super friendly and helpful. My wife really loved the Yoga session, as I enjoyed the sauna and the ice bath. Very peaceful and quiet place. Not very far from the centre. highly recommend this place They also were able to find a last minute room for my friens who stayed over.

Exceptional

My experience at Basundari was more incredible than I could have imagined! The staff are absolutely wonderful and addressed me by name starting on the first day! They were so incredibly sweet, generous, and had such warm and welcoming energy. The retreat center is so beautiful and peaceful. It is in a quiet area just outside the center of Ubud, that offers you space to relax and rejuvenate. Only a short ride to the center via go jek or car. There are multiple pools, sauna, and ice bath, which are such a lovely touch! Highly highly recommend staying here, and I can't wait to be back soon!!

Amazing energy, incredible views, stunning room and the most warm and helpful staff.

Absolutely amazing staff who is so loving and welcoming. Everyone is so helpful and really made me feel comfortable and like 'home'. You will get a true nature experience while having a luxury room. I loved the sounds of nature, the energy and views. Perfect spot for meditation, journaling, but also to explore Ubud since it is very close. The breakfast was perfect, every morning they will freshly cook the meal you desire that day. Terima kasih for this incredible stay!

Awesome

Breakfast was amazing! There was selection of avocado toast, eggs & toast, yogurt & granola, pancakes and fruit + freshly squeezed juices, tea and coffee selections. The chef and service team were really helpful and friendly, and will do their best to cater to your palettes/ dietary requests (if any). Location wise was quite good, its situated in a small village near central Ubud so it's quite near to the city center per say~ Very quiet and quaint little town and open rice fields and plantations around. Stayed in Villa Mewa which is right next to the kitchen / dining area but the service staff were very mindful to be quiet (especially in the mornings when they prepare food). Room comes with a fully stocked mini fridge of some soft drinks (1 time only) + some tea and coffee selections, tempeh chips & gluten free cookies. (i loved the tempeh chips and bought a couple of packets home) Overall, would love to come back again because the staff are all so welcoming and they do their best to help you :)) + the place is really quiet and makes an excellent spot if you just want to rest and unwind from the busyness of the city.

Breakfast menu could have slight changes in the selections to switch things up a bit! Location wise - may be a bit hard to find online taxis (i.e. grab / gojek) and locals there aren't very friendly to using online services so you may want to take local taxis, though they may be a slightly more expensive! Room wise quite ok, just that it might be slightly awkward with other guests visiting the infinity pool whilst our room curtains are open and they can look into our room and vice-versa. Some guests may also be quite noisy when they use the infinity pool & some may smoke also (which got into our room) so it wasn't very nice, but we mostly only stayed in the room at night time and early morning so it was ok overall. Didn't get the chance to explore the facilities like the sauna, pool, yoga shala and ice bath as we didn't have time due to packed activities but would love to if I stay here the next round!

The location is out of central Ubud but perfect for our needs. We can from super busy Canggu to get away from the busy streets and noise. There are 2 swimming pools with beautiful settings all around the property. The sauna and Ice bath was also a huge plus!

Unforgettable getaway experience where you can truly disconnect

I came to Basundari to disconnect from a hectic every day city life and I must say my stay has exceeded all my expectations. The morning yoga was very very good, I liked the pace at which it was done (you could take your time to settle into the pose), and appreciated how the yoga instructor took his time to ensure everyone had their poses correct. I also had one kundalini yoga session and that too was great. The yoga deck is surrounded by beautiful scenery and sounds of nature. Don’t be lazy to get up in the morning! The room was absolutely beautiful and so natural with all the wood elements in it, a swing where I enjoyed reading my book and the view to the fields where I could see the cows and chickens, it was just priceless. Having looked at a number or different options I can say Basundari offers the best value for money in Ubud for the kind of experience it provides. I would definitely return and will recommend this place to friends. Thank you for a great experience to the whole team at Basundari!
