Orchid House near Vancouver YVR Airport

The host was super nice, showed us everything around. Facilities were super clean and had everything we need for our stay.

Friendly welcome. Immaculately clean rooms. Comfortable bed. Perfect for an overnight stay. Options to self cater albeit in a communal kitchen.

The location is slightly out of the way for trips to Vancouver. But for an overnight stop whilst changing aircraft, totally sufficient. Fisherman‘s wharf is only a $20 taxi drive away.

The property is located in a quite suburban area. The accommodation was clean and the bed was comfortable.

Communication with the host was difficult. Lots of house rules that were not in the booking information. I believe that the description was misleading. The room we had booked was occupied by another guest. We were advised that we were given an upgrade at no extra cost. The upgrade was a downstairs room with an ensuite and a small kitchen. In our opinion this was not an upgrade. Being downstairs we heard constant movement from upstairs and conversations. Every time someone used the upstairs bathroom we could hear everything that occurred in the bathroom. Also the hot water system was beside our room and we heard it operating frequently. The kitchen area did not have any bench space available for food preparation. Our upstairs room was supposed to have a balcony, soundproof walls, shared bathroom and kitchen. We were never offered access to these upstairs areas. I was also surprised at the cost of doing laundry. The description suggests that there was a washing machine in our room. There was also a cost for laundry services. I thought that I could do my own washing in the machine indicated in the description. I thought that I would only pay a laundry fee if the host did my washing. The cost to use the washer and dryer was CAD$10. We found a local coin operated laundry where we did a full load wash and dry for CAD$5. There was a great pub (Legends) across the road from the coin laundry where we had dinner while doing our washing. We were told if we wanted to wait for the person occupying the room we booked to return and move out the host would then clean the room and we could move in. We didn't want to wait. Check in time is 3pm, we arrived close to 5pm and had been travelling all day.
