Park Cottage is a carefully restored, listed former rectory within Galloway House Estate overlooking Wigtown Bay on the sheltered Dumfries and Galloway coast. Please see aerial video which is in the photo gallery. Not only can guests enjoy the beautiful main house, but also we have a new luxury "cabin" with seating for all and large patio doors opening to enjoy the sea view. Set among ancient trees with 21 private acres of parkland to enjoy, Park Cottage is a five star mix of antiques and modern luxury. With zip and link beds downstairs, most sleeping requirements can be catered for. In 1740, the Earl of Galloway chose this exceptionally sheltered bay to build his mansion and to develop a Capability Brown inspired garden. You can still make out the avenue where the rector rode his pony to the mansion house chapel. The stable is now our log store. Today our visitors can enjoy 21 private acres of this listed landscape with the sea and venerable trees to the east and open fields and the old laundry just visible to the south. Enjoy the brand new 6 person hot tub overlooking the sea and gaze up at the stars in one of the clearest night skies in the U.K. Britain's darkest skies . Over the fence and through the small field for a dip in the sea before breakfast! Little ones can head to the safe, sandy beach at Rigg Bay- an easy walk along the beautiful coastal path or take the car around to Rigg Bay car park- about 5 minutes around the corner. Then onwards to Cruggleton Castle ruin- a very rewarding walk with magnificent cliff-top views. This is a bird watchers haven with a wide variety along the coastline so bring binoculars! A detour on your homeward journey will bring you through delightful Galloway House Gardens-Park Cottage is a haven of tranquility and complete privacy to come back to after a day's adventuring or to enjoy on it's own merits.

We stayed for a week with family and friends to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday, and what a way to celebrate! The house was absolutely beautiful, extremely clean and catered for every need. We made full use of the hot tub, with its beautiful view over the bay and had a lovely evening toasting marshmallows over the fire pit. The house is also in a great postion, with easy access to the coastal path and to the village. We really couldn't have asked for a better place to spend a very special holiday. Thank you for having us.

From the moment we arrived we realised that we were in a very special house in a wonderful environment. We had the best family holiday ever with lots to do in the area from mountain biking to the gem museum at Creetown. The weather was sunny but with a chill wind but that did not deter excellent use of the Hot Tub and cabin with its stunning view.

Property fantastic as was location. My very able adult son and daughter with their two support workers have been on many stays in many locations and their description was the best ever. Location chosen by my son for his photography, it is so important to me as mum and employer that obviously main focus is for my son and daughter but needs to offer the opportunites for their support to enable the very best respite away. Thank you

I cannot overstate how fantastic this property is. Myself and 8 friends spent a week here over New Year and we had an incredible time. The house is beautiful inside and out, containing absolutely everything you might need. It's a short walk away from a pub, cafe and shop but also remote enough to feel completely peaceful. The hot tub is a great feature, as is the cabin and games room. The host was easily reachable and always on hand to offer recommendations for local activities which was hugely appreciated.
If you're considering booking this property, don't hesitate. You won't regret it.

We have spent a wonderful week with extended family, getting together after the pandemic prevented us from travelling.
Park Cottage provided a spectacular home base for days out exploring the natural beauty, history and culture of Galloway.
We enjoyed a couple of evenings sitting in the new cabin, watching the ever-changing sea view, sipping a glass of wine while the sun set.
Our hosts Lorraine and Robin went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable, and addressed any issues immediately with kindness and grace.
We would not hesitate to recommend it as a lovely, comfortable home-away-from-home.

We have been taking our children and grandchildren on a holiday yearly for at least 17 years. Park Cottage has been one of the best. Park Cottage is a beautiful house with lots of original features. It's in a perfect location lovely walks beaches and within driving distance of some lovely villages.
We visited Galloway alpaca experience for our granddaughters b'day and highly recommend this.
Loranine has equipped Park Cottage with everything you'd need for a great self catering break.
The hotub with amazing views and the newly finished summer house is wonderful.
Lorraine is very quick to respond to any questions or requirements we had.
Also recommend the Harbour Inn and the fish and chip van that parks near the community centre on a Wednesday.

We were with 6 adults for a week in May guest in Lorraine's house. Particularly noteworthy is the equipment of the kitchen: there are not only the necessary appliances, but everything you need for cooking. We have used the house as a base for playing on a number of golf courses in the area, such as Portpatrick, Stranraer etc.The use of the hot tub after returning from the rounds was fantastic.Communication with Lorraine was flawless at all times and in the shortest possible time. In short: An absolutely recommendable house in a quiet environment, and a beautiful garden house overlooking the adjacent firth.

In this world of craziness and the hustle And bustle of regular life, What a gift to find this amazingly peaceful Haven. Cows as your neighbors, natural sounds of Birdsong and the sea, walks through woodland scented with bluebells and wild garlic. Deer and hare wandering through the fields and garden and amazing constellations at night. House was gorgeous, warm and comfortable and communication with Lorraine very prompt. Highly recommend the Hive for fresh cakes and small gifts and John of swift motors for pick ups.

Just back from a wonderful stay at Park Cottage. With a first class customer service, the cottage was spotless and very well equipped. We'd go as far as to say it was one of the nicest, most welcoming holiday properties we've ever stayed in! The grounds were fantastic for children, dogs and adults alike and we enjoyed late evenings in the hot tub.
We saw deer in the garden in the morning. The house was just amazing and a very strong wifi connection kept us all happy on the rare occasions when needing to check "back in with the world!". We're all relaxed and was sorry to leave. We can't wait to come back. Just perfect!

Our third stay at Park Cottage and as always it proves to be the ideal family holiday location. Room for the children to play safely in the garden and plenty of space for the adults to unwind. Every time we've been, there have been improvements to the amenities, this time the observation room - what wonderful views! We watched the sunrise with our morning cuppa - Brilliant!

A delightful place to stay. House is great and very suitable for family get together of all ages even when there is plenty of rain. Lovely walks, lovely scenery, lovely village, lovely people , one could keep going on! We really enjoyed the peacefulness of the house and gardens. Three boys (6-10) loved the outside, learnt to ride their bikes as little traffic and plenty of off road. Really can’t think of any negatives. Looking for a place to go with all the family this is it.

We had a fantastic time at Park Cottage and Lorraine was a super host. There’s plenty of space and it’s was perfect for us as a group of friends. The property is amazing and the hot tub, overlooking the sea, was perfect after a long day out exploring. Saw seals in nearby Rigg Bay, swam at Mossyard, cycled at Kirroughtree, had a dram (or two) at Bladnoch. Would we stay again. 100% yes. Beautiful house in a beautiful part of the world.

This property is absolutely perfect for a large family get together. Lot's of comfy beds and bathrooms as well as fantastic kitchen with large table and other spaces to sit and catch up. The summer house was fantastic with views over the bay and we watched the sunrise and sunset from the hot tub which is also strategically placed for those fantastic views.
The property is ideally situated an you can either potter around locally or go a bit further afield. Lorraine, the owner, was fab and actually came to meet us to give us some tips etc.
We had an absolutely amazing time and I can't wait to go back.

Loved our time there, didn’t want to leave. The property is excellent. Great for a family. Very comfortable. Every thing you could possibly want. Plenty of space. Grandsons loved the hot tub and games room.
We had a lovely time around the area, short walk to lovely sandy bay. Would recommend the Hive in the village for a snack and ice cream.
Days out to Galloway forest are a must especially Clatteringshaw Loch taking in the wild goats and deer on the way. Great for children.
Would love to go again.

The property is well appointed, spacious and comfortable. A large family can enjoy the house and gardens without getting on top of each other. The surrounding area kept us entertained and the host was very welcoming and extremely helpful. This was our second visit and it's likely we'll be back again in the future!

Glorious Garlieston!
Fabulous house that lives up to the photos (in fact it exceeds them!) Lots of space and the kitchen in particular, is brilliant for both cooking and eating around the huge table. The garden is great for garden games and dogs and we absolutely loved the hot tub with views out towards the sea and hills. Lots to do in and around the cottage but it was so relaxing being surrounded by trees, the sea, glorious farmland and friendly cows, that we didn't end up venturing very far away. The sheltered bay is great for swimming at high tide and rock-pooling at low tide. Owners very helpful and catered for unusual requests (lobster cooking equipment!), provided a lovely welcome hamper and kept the hot tub in great condition. First time visiting this area and it may be my new favourite part of Scotland.

Idyllic
Had a wonderful week at Park Cottage in June. Fabulous cottage with so much to see and do on the doorstep. Visited Galloway Forest - beautiful, Wigtown - very interesting, walks down to local beach - great for the dogs who had a whale of time. Highly recommend The Harbour Inn - food was fabulous. Cottage had so m much to offer - fire pit was great, summer house ideal, walks on doorstep. Did not get chance to use hot tub or games room as not enough time - will have to go back for definite. Any questions we had were instantly answered by the lovely host, Lorraine. In one word - FABULOUS!

Stunning property
We stayed for a week in June and thoroughly enjoyed the property. The grounds and views are exceptional. My 4 year old spend most of the week outside and barely asked for a toy!
We enjoyed the fire pit (thank you for the marshmallows!) and loves the hot tub with sea views.
We visited local beaches and the kirroughtree visitor centre. We enjoyed Wigtown for wandering around quaint shops, coffee and lunch.
All in all a fabulous stay! Thank you

A beautiful and tranquil place
We’ve just spent an idyllic week at Park Cottage – it is just the loveliest place. Comfortable, warm, clean and tastefully decorated. The kitchen is a fabulous focal point with a large table, plenty of seating and bifold doors looking out over the expansive garden. Over the course of the week we were joined by different members of our wider family and it was lovely to spend time together in this tranquil space. Fabulous house, hot tub overlooking the sea, summer house, fire pit, stunning scenery and walks, walking distance to The Harbour Inn: all in all, what’s not to like? This was a very difficult place to leave.
