A perfect location for a tranquil escape

Spent a wonderful 4 days here, a perfect tranquil retreat in a very luxurious cottage. The owners have ensured that all the little things are perfect - ample supply of logs for the fire, toiletries in the bathrooms, well appointed kitchen - we wanted for nothing. The cottage is lovely and warm (it was only 3 degrees outside when we arrived), lots of room and very comfortable. totally dog friendly, the river walk which begins outside the cottage is perfect exercise for a pre-breakfast ramble. Ideally located for Ayr, Troon, the Ayrshire coast as well as lots of castles and waterfalls.

Beautiful setting, in a very quiet location.

The cottages here are in an idyllic setting, they are very quiet and peaceful. The cottage we had was good, cosy and warm.

The location was fabulous, lovely cottage tucked away in the castle grounds. It had everything we needed for a warm and comfortable stay. Nice to be able to walk freely in the grounds. Very comfortable bed, lovely bed linen and towels. Very effective heating.

The furnishings were a little tired and not all the window blinds worked properly. The hook for curtain tie backs in bedroom fell out of the wall.

A wonderful location

This is a superb location if you are looking for a secret, rural getaway. We loved the walks by the river, and through the woods. The open fire in the lounge with wood and kindling provided was a super touch. The beds were very comfortable and the whole ambience relaxing. The kitchen was well equipped and we were able to cook properly in there.

The bins hadn't been emptied before we arrived. Just a minor point and wouldn't put us off from coming again. One of the electricity sockets in the lounge crackled alarmingly when I plugged in the computer. I reported this and hopefully that will be dealt with. (The other sockets were all fine). The key to the front door was difficult to get out the lock. More irritating than anything as we didn't want to force it and break it.

Wonderful cottage tucked away in the South Ayrshire countryside

Tack Room Cottage is part of a small group of cottages created from the old stables and coach house of Cloncaird Castle - the outside looks like a mini castle! The cottage was wonderfully spacious and the beds, plus the bedding, are amazing, somehow firm but feather soft at the same time. There was plenty of hot water and the towels were very thick and fluffy. The walks around the grounds were wonderful in an evening after dinner. The estate manager was able to swiftly supply both a cafetiere and towel rack when we requested these. The WiFi was great and managed to cope with all of us being connected and streaming music/videos. The table and chairs outside was perfect for the hot weather Scotland managed to surprise us with! It was really useful having the shared washing machine and tumble drier close by, and there was a really good selection of DVDs, books and games to borrow in the utility room. Having a small bottle of milk in the fridge on our arrival was very thoughtful, particularly since we had forgotten to pick milk up, and the plentiful supply of instant coffee, tea bags and long life milk portions was a great touch.

The blinds and windows were a bit fiddly to operate, necessitating us climbing on furniture/window sills, and it was a bit cobwebby behind the blinds and curtains. The kitchen only had 4 of everything, requiring constant washing up of items, but there was washing up liquid and plenty of dishwasher tablets for the dishwasher. The kitchen could have been a little better equipped eg pizza/ baking trays would have been handy, and we had to rearrange the dresser to give us some food storage. But overall it was perfectly adequate and I even managed to bake a cake.

So many things. The cottage was super spacious, but not isolated. The property was beyond stunning - made for wonderful walks - with views of sheep, horses, a stream, trees, fields - and of course, a castle!

The bathroom was an odd layout as once you’ve had a shower and need to use the sink you have to get your feet wet as it’s a wet room setup. Same with using the toilet.

A relaxing stay on a beautiful estate

The cottage was in beautiful parkland with some lovely walks. The keys were left inside the cottage and all the instructions for the cottage were in a comprehensive folder.

The cottage facilities were good, but china, cutlery etc were a bit sparse - for instance we only had two table knives, which we reported to the Estate Manager.

Lovely stay, quite, peaceful and beautiful grounds

Clean, comfortable property. Lovely drive there, no contact with any staff, clear instructions on check in and check out, pretty much all you need for a short stay.

No soap, or body wash in the bathrooms so make sure you bring your own. No access to inside of the castle which is a shame - but ultimately, didn't mind as the grounds were so lovely!

A charming self-contained cottage. Well equipped and comfortable. Close to many interesting attractions, including Dumfries House and Culzean Castle. We would happily recommend this accommodation.

We were attending a wedding in the area and as a group we rented three properties located together. The setting is fantastic with well maintained grounds and gardens. The castle backdrop is breathtaking.Our accommodation was spacious and to a very high standard. One of our parties had travelled from Hong Kong and were allowed early access which was really appreciated after an arduous journey. We would definitely consider the property for any leisure trip.The staff were extremely helpful on booking and the lead up to our stay very much appreciated.

Relaxing lovely stay

Idyllic location

Just needed a bit more loving care, missing and not working light bulbs, a plug socket not working, heating tricky, but got sorted. Window ledges re:outside appearance needed cleaning and very obvious as you walk into the courtyard properties, just little things that wouldn’t take a lot to sort and that would make a good property excellent, the place itself is absolutely lovely, very relaxing and a nice comfy bed would go again. super fire pit.

Surroundings were fab. We had a lovely peaceful rest. We didn't see the staff only manager once when we arrived.

We couldn't get tv to work & had to watch from the tablet. My friend dropped her earring. She put torch on as it rolled under bed. There was a lot of dust there. Oven was hard to use also so we didn't bother

Best stress reducer ever

Everything about the property and location were perfect. You were close enough to towns for exploration and far enough away for peace and quiet. The accommodation was lovely and so relaxing. Beds you could fall into and not want to get out of. The properties were very well equipped as well. Can’t wait to go back!

We were there as a couple only but small things the downstairs we had no lock and the upstairs bedroom we lock didn’t work again we were there as a couple so not a big deal but might be for other visitors We did only get one large towel as well Suggest maybe some sort of shelve in the shower area for shampoo etc even a suction cup attachment

The grounds are beautiful & the accommodation was very clean & comfortable.

I can't fault anything but would suggest to others that they take enough food/drink supplies for the duration of their stay as the nearest shop is a small grocers in Maybole a 15 minute drive away. The 3 nearest restaurants are a 9, 14 & 18 minute drive away also.

Stunning castle and grounds with super comfy cottage stay.

We lucked out because the weather was fantastic for early April. The castle grounds were beautiful and so relaxing. The cottage was the same. Beds super comfy. Everything you needed to hand. It was very cosy with underfloor heating. We tried to light the fire but there was no grate which made it difficult. But still we were warm enough.

There were a couple of things but nothing major. No fire grate, one of the nest of tables was broken and we couldn’t turn in one of the showers. However it didn’t affect our stay.

Took my wife and our dog away for a long weekend, couldn't of asked for a better experience. Cottage was perfect and the grounds of the estate were beautiful. We will definitely be back, thank you.
