About this villa rental
Casa dos Francelhos is a beautiful and comfortable fully renovated house in Funchal (originally built in 1937) with a private heated swimming pool and stunning sea and city views, offering a quiet setting in a privileged residential area for a joyful, relaxed and recharging stay in Madeira Island.
A 15 / 20min walk will take you to downtown Funchal (0.9 miles / 1.4 km).
With Funchal bay and sea view from its large balcony, the house has 2 suites and 2 spacious bedrooms, a great living room, an elegant dining room, 4.5 bathrooms and a fully equipped kitchen. The house is prepared to host children and babies (with 2 high chairs and 2 cots - a regular and a travel version). An outdoor heated swimming pool, barbecue facilities with an eating area and a delightful sun terrace are also available at Casa dos Francelhos. Downstairs, we have one suite with double bed with a window opening out to the entrance and private bathroom including a bathtub. Upstairs we can find the other three bedrooms. One suite with a queen size bed, access to the balcony with sea view, private closet and bathroom with shower bath. One bedroom with two single beds opening out to the balcony with sea view. The fourth bedroom has two single beds, a window opening out to the rear of the house. Next to the two single bedrooms there is one common bathroom with a small bathtub suitable for children that is also an ordinary shower. The living room, dining room, kitchen and bathroom are located downstairs. The living room comes with several comfortable sofas and chairs and a flat-screen satellite TV and a DVD player. It opens out onto the terrace with sun loungers and parasols. The bright dining room has a wood table in the center for up to 12 guests (including two infants) and it's adjacent to the kitchen for convenience in serving. It opens out onto the barbecue area and the outdoor dining table. The kitchen is fully equipped and has all the necessary paraphernalia and electric equipment enabling our guests to cook great meals.
There is also an in-house laundry with washing machine and ironing facilities.
We have 4 extra folding beds (single) and 2 cots (described above) that can be placed in the bedrooms.

The house is located in a quiet residential area of Funchal, close enough to exploit downtown appeal and far enough to save you from noise, cars and pollution. Every weekday, around 8.30/8. 45 a.m., the bakery car with fresh bread and simple bakery cakes passes by and snoozes (just be at gate and they will stop at your hand call).

Casa dos Francelhos is 1.3 km away from downtown Funchal (less than 15 min walk downhill and a few more to return uphill). The most popular attractions include:
1 - Walking distance (downhill): Funchal Cathedral (1,7 km), Town Hall (1,4 km), Jesuits 'College and Church (1,4 km), Farmers' Market Funchal Shopping Center (1.8 km), Anadia Shopping (1.6 km); CR7 Museum (1.5 miles), Quinta das Cruzes Gardens and Museum (1.5 miles), Frederico de Freitas House Museum (1.6 km), Funchal Cable Car Station to Monte (2.0 km).
2 - Walking distance (uphill - please be aware that uphill in Madeira means steep slopes!)Monte Car Car Station (to Funchal - 2.1 km), Monte Cable Car Station (to Madeira Botanical Gardens - 2.3 km), Tropical Monte Palace Gardens, Monte Church Monte Sledges (1.2 miles).
3 - By Car: Madeira Botanical Gardens (4.5 km); Madeira Cristiano Ronaldo Airport - 18 km from the property.
4 - By Bus: Bus stop to downtown Funchal is 100 meters away from House of the Chicks (a 3 min trip downtown!). A 5-minute walk can take you to a small grocery shop and snack bars. As more variety and more affordable grocery shopping, we advise you to go to La Vie Shopping Center or Anadia Shopping.
Other things to note:
The house provides satellite TV, free Wi-Fi at all house divisions, USB charging plugs, UK sockets, and private parking for 2 cars, although it is very easy to park outside. We also lend children's car seats and 2 adult bikes if needed. Our registration number is 58773 / AL.

Six of us stayed at Casa dos Francelhos for a week. Antonio greeted us on arrival and provided lots of help regarding walking routes, restaurants and attractions.The house is really well furnished and has all we needed for out stay.Thank you Antonio for a great stay in Madeira.

We (group of 6 old friends) are so glad we had the opportunity to stay at Casa dos Francelhos! As noted by the other reviews, Antonio was a fantastic host, very generous with his time and knowledge, and the villa was beautiful and comfortable. We were greeted by the loveliest welcome sign, along with wine, treats, and plenty of information to explore Funchal and Madeira. Lots of kitchen equipment for those planning to cook (but do take Antonio's advice on restaurant recommendations!), comfortable couches in the living room, spacious bedrooms, and so many beautiful details throughout. We walked into town each day and then walked (if we were feeling energetic) or Uber/Bolt-ed home.Thank you Antonio for a fantastic holiday and we hope to see you again soon!

We all agreed this was the nicest villa anyone had ever
rented. Charming is a great description. We were a group of long time friends on a girls trip that included hiking and shopping. The villa was so well stocked with everything you could think of. It was so clean and the location was great with amazing views. Antonio was wonderful. He was quick to reply to any questions and was so nice. The pool was wonderful too. We enjoyed our stay so much and would highly recommend staying here! You'll be glad you did! It's definitely a ten!!Thanks again Antonio!
