Sheens House

Beautiful and accessible location. Perfect blend between old building and modern amenities. The beds were nice, the windows/view was lovely. Loved that we could get to the meadows within minutes!

The kitchen nook was quite tiny, and the fridge was the smallest I’ve seen! Still nice to have these in the room.

The internet connection was very poor.

We chose Sheens House for a family trip and had a pleasant stay overall. The hosts gave us the largest family room on the upper floor, which was greatly appreciated. The accommodation consisted of two separate rooms, and one of them included a small kitchen area, which was very convenient for our family. We also appreciated the complimentary cereals, coffee, and tea provided during our stay. It was a thoughtful touch that made us feel welcome. One thing to note is that the floors are quite squeaky, which can be a little challenging when traveling with a toddler and trying to keep noise to a minimum, especially in the evenings. Overall, we had a nice experience and found the accommodation comfortable and suitable for a family stay in Edinburgh.

The location was good

We were not entirely satisfied with certain aspects of our stay. As a family of six who showers daily after long days, receiving fresh towels only every three days was inconvenient, especially since there was no washing machine or dryer available for use. Additionally, it was not mentioned in the booking details that we would need to carry all our luggage up a narrow staircase to reach the second floor. Furthermore, the property being a shared home with rooms rented to others, along with only one shared toilet, did not provide the level of privacy we were expecting. Another major issue was that the rooms had no air conditioning, and during the hot weather, we were sweating and unable to sleep comfortably. When we raised this concern with the landlord, the response we received was unexpectedly unpleasant, which added to our disappointment.
