    This is your most basic budget hotel. It's clean, the staff are friendly, aircon worked well, free WiFi. Location excellent - very easy transport links to the hotel (3 mins walk from bus or train), and for around the island. You can get any ferry you need within 4/5 minutes walk. There's restaurants nearby, it's on the grand canal, feels very safe, a popular tourist area. They look after your luggage for free. However do be clear with what you are booking: this hotel is extremely dated, there's lots of wear and tear. The toilet in my ensuite didn't flush properly (so used a communal one). There was no hot water for the entire 3 day stay (very cold showers, I did ask reception about it but no improvement), the walls are thin there was a dog barking in the room next to me (take ear plugs). There's no reception on site - check in is next door at Hotel Canal, then you see yourself to your room via a locked coded door, upstairs, through the slightly strange communal area, find your room. I was pleasantly surprised to find my room was unexpectedly ensuite (other than the difficulties mentioned above). The room was made up as a double rather than my requested twin - but was rectified the next day. If you can live with all this then go ahead and get a great cheapish deal, if you can't live with this then don't book.
