The owner was kind enough to leave us some small things for our arrival. The house fairly clean and is unique and set in one of the nicest areas of São Jorge island. On a good day, the small balcony offers lovely views of Pico Island and mountain, and a lovely sunset. The shower had decent power and a good amount of hot water.. If interested in birds, at night, this can be a great area to hear the haunting sounds of the Petrels as they fly overhead at nighttime. Also keep a lookout for them resting on the sides of the roads as you drive home at night.
The house can feel very claustrophobic as it is quite small. It can be a very difficult house to navigate if you're a bigger person, because it's basically two small rooms, kitchen upstairs, bedroom downstairs, with a steep narrow wooden staircase connecting both There are two dirty cats who freely roamed into the house when we were bringing in our luggage. We had to constantly chase them away. The bedroom gets extremely damp and the dehumidifier needed to be constantly emptied. The dehumidifier also hadn't been cleaned in a while as there was mildew in it. We didn't sleep too well due to the high humidity.
