wonderful place to say to chill with a beautiful view over the city of Oaxaca

It was very relaxing, with an incredible view over the city of Oaxaca. The pool was wonderful to sit by, have a beer and chill after exploring the city. The kitchen facilities were wonderful easy to cook up a meal .

The couch was incredibly uncomfortable and broken. We were unable to sit on it to watch TV as a family of four and there were no other chairs to sit on. I had to go and get the outdoor furniture to sit on to watch television which was not comfortable. The garden at the entrance and around the property could have been mowed as the grass was up past my knees .

Gourgeous location.

The view, where is located.

Need more maintenance regarding the garden, same as the room the door from the toilet got stock, the water heater is solar, no sun no hot water. The shower door is not very accurate how they put them, shower is to tight and the shower head the water gets out. To many spiders and i understand as the property is in the mountains. The person in charge didn’t offer anything, just went to get some butter from the refrigerator, very arrogant actitud.

The road to get up was pretty bad so bring a heavy car. And if I’m being picky… A/C would’ve been great but honestly you don’t need it. It’s so high in the mountains the breeze hits and keeps the room very cool.

Perfection in Paradise

Reserving Utopia Casas Boutique was the best decision we made on our honeymoon. From the moment we arrived (I read a review mentioning the road, which is not an issue - if you know how to drive, you'll be fine. Or use Rangel, their trusted taxi who makes it easy with friendly service and a great price). We were blown away by the commanding view on top of the mountain. Peaceful, serene, Utopia provides an immersive experience in nature with every amenity well thought out. The design of the homes showcase the sea of mountains surrounding Utopia, while also providing an aerial view of the expansive city below. Every view is spectacular - sunrise, afternoon, sunset and evening. The amenity list is complete! The pool, oh the pool, it is amazing! Imagine soaking in a warm pool / jacuzzi, overlooking birds soaring in the valley, appreciating the mountaintops and all the beautiful exotic flora around you. While we didn't utilize the volleyball court, it looks like it would be a lot of fun with family or friends! The garden has Madagascar palms (my favorite!), succulents and a variety of cactus! The hammocks in the garden provided a tranquil escape for my wife while I kept busy navigating trails and did I mention the pool? Paradise found. The staff was amazing - Magaly, Humberto, Laura and Samuel were all extremely attentive, helpful, thoughtful and pleasant in all of our interactions. Thank you Rafael and Family, for creating such a special place. I cannot wait to return!

Perfect in terms of house, could do a bit better on utensils

The view. The space. The beauty of the house. It really is as beautiful as it looks in the pictures.

I expected to have decent utensils in the kitchen and would have like to have access to a washer. The knives were so blunt they could cut nothing and the pans were damaged so that I had to go buy a knife and a pan. There were no tea towels to dry dishes. I had to ask for a broom and a cleaning spray. Small things, but they matter.

A short drive from the city this is a great location to enjoy some views and stretch out

Specatacular views over Oaxaca in a beautiful eco-home. I really enjoyed soaking up the vibes from the city sitting on the balcony at night with a mezcal watching the stars. In the daytime hummingbirds are drinking the sap from cactus in the garden. The property is spacious and everything works nicely, in a vintage-super-home kind of way.

The house requires a lot of attention so Humberto was there a lot of the time working on the garden and general upkeep. I didn't find it intrusive but if you are particular about your privacy then maybe it's not for you. We managed to communicate using a translate app between english and spanish. The plumbing is quite slow and sensitive due the to the eco nature of the house.

Beautiful relaxing stay with views over Oaxaca

Beautiful views of Oaxaca, relaxing stay, great facilities and room with everything you could want in there. Pool was lovely to relax in in the morning and the place is really pretty and sustainable. Host was easily contactable with the lovely Humberto on site to help if needed. We checked in a little early and little late which was very kind. Really cute resident cats came to say hello and chill with us on a few of the days.

Whilst the location is relaxing and the views are incredible, I think this location probably is better if you hire a car (4 by 4 as there’s a lot of rugged tracks) in hindsight as it offers more flexibility in being able to come and go through out the day. Otherwise you’re paying for 20 minute taxis (£8 each way) to and from the Oaxaca town which for us, meant we didn’t want to keep coming back and forth and had to plan to be out for specific times. The owners of the place did make getting taxis easy if this is what you choose however as there is a guy we whatsapped arranging taxis which was v easy

Simply perfect.

Everything about our stay here was simply perfect. Rafa was so helpful in firstly providing all the information we needed in order to get to the property and secondly in meeting us late in the night as we arrived and giving us the full tour. Upon leaving, our flight wasn't due to depart until late afternoon so Rafa very kindly allowed us to check out late. We're so grateful to Rafa, Miranda, Humberto, Imelda, and Laura for making our experience of visiting Oaxaca so special. My wife and I agreed that this is by far the best accommodation either of us had ever stayed in. The views of the city from the private terraces were staggering, while the various amenities such as the pool, volleyball net, outside grill, and vegetable garden just added to the experience. As much as we enjoyed our forays into the city, we always looked forward to returning to spend the evening drinking mezcal on the terrace as the sun set on this beautiful city.

The property was beautiful, the most green spot in Oaxaça. the small pool was a highlight for us, with jacuzzi jets and a wave maker we could get all of the exercise of a large pool in something the size of two hot tubs, genius for a place where water needs to be conserved. The property is an eco friendly house with everything designed to be both luxurious and low impact at the same time.

We really liked everything, the only drawback that we could see is that it's a bit far from the center, in terms of transportation, but in the end, it was so much more relaxing and cooler being on a hillside just above the city, all we heard was nature.

We loved our stay at Casas Utopia and hope to return again.

The views and property were spectacular. The accommodations were huge and well appointed with everything needed for a comfortable and relaxing vacation, including a washing machine, big screen tv and bluetooth sound system. The hosts were extremely helpful and friendly, with suggestions of activities and restaurants. We really enjoyed our gourmet dinner prepared by the host.

Distance from town was a bit far and segment of dirt road made it impassible for some vehicles. Beware of overpriced taxi service from the airport. Make sure to use only the taxis recommended by hosts.

Rafael, the owner, provided excellent attention and was very welcoming. The views are amazing you can see the sunrise and sunset from the same place. Both, the loft and the house are beautiful. i really recommend this place for staying as a couple or family.

Off the Beaten Path

Loved the setting - magical IS a good word! Both at day & night - beautiful and peaceful💌 Used the pool twice - lovely.💧💧 One time our neighbors were in it too - super nice people & fun to meet them! The bedrooms were huge and beds, too. Appeared to be 2 king beds... Comfy! Great shower & big bathroom. A TV downstairs with movies, but didn't use it. This would be a great romantic getaway! 💚💙 Host was responsive and nice!

There were barking dogs - wild? - that interfered with sleep one night. This great place is out in the hills......Bring your earplugs. 🤪 The dirt road to Utopia is rutted and a wild ride - but no problem for taxis!

A beautiful place though didn't meet my desire for peace, quiet and privacy.

Spectacular views and beautiful loft apartment, stellar design and lovely pool. Much thought clearly went into the architecture and indoor/outdoor spaces. There were amazing thunderstorms 2 nights. Amazing. The owner allowed me to shorten my reservation from 7 nights to 4 and provided a refund for those 3 nights, which was appreciated. Also, the property is very dog friendly and it's cool to walk around there. Staff on site helpful and kind. Enjoyed pockets of peace and tranquility and beauty. Would be great for a group to rent the entire property, which has 3 rentals I believe. The owner was very communicative and worked with me, but didn't seem to get that I had come a long way for peace and quiet and that my requests for privacy and tranquility had nothing to do with how beautiful the place is. It is stunning and worth the rough drive up the road.

This beautiful place was too noisy for what I was needing and different from what I thought I had reserved. The description read it was a One Bedroom Villa with a Private Pool! Yeah i thought! A villa sounds so, well private...and quiet, and I had let the owner know I totes wanted to make much use of the pool and was looking forward to r&r after a really big project and was exhausted. There was a small but loud construction project that was stopped during my stay after a few conversations, but I could still easily hear others talking at the pool and around my "villa," motorcycles pulling up for food deliveries. It seemed to be a big year for locusts too which were quite loud in the morning, on the back side of my apt. Who knew...not the owner's fault but would have liked to have known. At first, I thought it was motorcycles on the hills or from Oaxaca, as Oaxaca can be a noisy place, but learned there were lots of locusts this year. I realize too, privacy and quiet can mean different things to different people and I was really seeking silence. Other villas I had been in were well, quieter. I understood from owner, the private pool part was a mistake on the part of Booking.com. However, when I met the other guests, who booked through Air bnb, they too thought they had a private pool...so at that point, it seemed unlikely Air bnb had made a mistake too, and this was disappointing. Beetle Alert - there were swarms that descended around my loft right after dark, for a few hours, so you had to be inside - sliding glass doors shut to prevent them from getting in and all outside lights off. I asked owner about this the first night, when I grabbed my dog and ran for cover. He said - it happens about 2 weeks/year. I figured out how to avoid them by my last night completely. So, bad timing, but I would have liked to known IN ADVANCE- b/c really, it was impossible to use my outdoor spaces or the pool after dark.
