Rasa's house in a typical Scandinavian style is simply a perfect place to spend the holidays - especially for families. It looks so cute and it is allocated superbly. There is a huge garden where our three boys could easily do their physical outwork and where we had our family matches in Viking chess. We also took benefit from the apples trees which enabled us to have apple crumble as often as we wanted to. There is a lot of space in the house. It is absolutely clean, comfortable, decorated with love and well-equipped. To sit on the veranda or at the balcony with a good book or a glas of wine makes you feel at holidays at once. When it gets dark you can even enjoy the sight of the enlighted church tower over the trees behind the river next to the garden. It is a marvellous view, indeed.
It is easy to get in touch with Rasa. She answers your e-mails immediately and it is no problem to talk to her on the phone for her English is pretty good. Though we did not meet even once. everything could be easily sorted out that way. She is a great host. We were welcomed with a lovely bunch of flowers, chocolate, bread an cheese.
Though you get the Impression of living in the countryside when you are in the garden, the town centre is only a five minutes walk away. The castle and the orangery are really worth visiting. The neighbourhood is calm and peaceful. It is worth having lunch in the snack bar next door. The meals are delicious and cheap and the scenery next to the river is lovely.
Palanga beach can be reached within 15 minutes. Other less crowded beaches are not that far away either. Rasa's house is a good start for a trip to the Curonian Spit which is a mustdo. Zemaitija national park is not far away either and lovely, too. We used our two weeks holidays for trips to the Hill of crosses, Kaunas and even Vilnius. The capital is quite a distance, but it is fantastic. However, spending a lazy or rainy (though rain never took long) in our holiday home was great,...
