HI HOSTEL CHARLEROI Brussels South Airport

The location is excellent, with a variety of shops, restaurants, and grocery stores nearby, making it very convenient. The staff at the front desk were welcoming and helpful. One of the best features is the proximity to the train station, which is within easy 5 min walking distance. As an international traveler, I particularly appreciated the bus service that dropped me off at the central station from the South Charleori Airport, from where I could easily walk to the facility. Breakfast was very nice too. Overall, the convenience and connectivity make this a highly recommended place to stay.

Adding air conditioning would help during warmer months, it gets quite stuffy without it.

If only all hostels were like this one! I arrived around midnight. The area is very safe and it is about three minutes from the Gare (Train Station) where buses from CRL airport arrive. The place is very spacious and clean, the staff pleasant and welcoming, very clear instructions. It was very hot, rather unusual for Belgium, so it was hot in the room as well, but otherwise, it was very comfortable, spotless clean. I absolutely loved the breakfast, there was so much to eat, and I do not often stay at hostels which offer free breakfast. I very much appreciated the closeness to the Gare.

There was a misunderstanding since I had 2 separate bookings. They thought that I was already checked out. I went on a daytrip and cleaning staff broke the lock of my locker and put all my possessions in a waste bag. However when I came back, I got everything back except my smartphone. Since the staff were the last people had had touched my phone, I assume that they are responsible to solve this problem. I asked the reception if I can speak to the manager, but they told me that he is on holiday/vacation and they gave me his business card and he’ll contact me to refund the damage. Now 2 months later, I tried numerous times to mail him but got 0 reply. When I call his number I always get his voicemail. I’ve read in other review of another guest that this is common to dismiss customers and say that ‘manager is on vacation/holiday’. So be careful! And again if the staff read this, please ask Sebastien to contact me!

this is probably the best hostel i have ever slept in: super modern, new, clean, staff is amazingly kind, good breakfast, and the best thing is probably that the common area is well isolated from the rooms. On saturday night there was some music and i was worried that would have kept me awake but absolutely not. i slept like a baby!

Hostel in a very good location. 5 minutes from the train station and 5 minutes to the bus stop with service to Charleroi Airport. I didn’t use the breakfast as I was leaving before 5:00 a.m. The room had a separate shower and toilet.

Everything was as expected for hostel standards.

Groups of young people were allowed to run up and down the corridors late at night. We received a patronising email about being in a youth hostel before our stay saying young people might be loud. There is loud and then there is disrespectful to others. I’ve been staying in youth hostels for 20years and have always taken people being quieter at night to be respectful and common sense. I advised about dietary requirements ahead of time and was advised the kitchen was made aware. However the kitchen staff were so rude I didn’t feel I could speak to them about our needs. The allergy guide on the wall is good except many items are not labels or obvious so not clear what each item is - a photo of this before staying would have been great.

We were made very welcome, room was very clean, basic but comfortable, games room lounge area was lovely, great fun for teenagers. Breakfast was great slight differences each day, free WiFi, charging points by each bed.

Nothing, everything went well

Location is everything. Right across the road from bus and rail station. Airport connection and onward trains ideal spot. Staff were efficient, pleasant and enjoy meeting new folks. It’s a straightforward experience, you understand what you’re getting, what’s available and what it costs. No hiddens.

If you have the windows open because of the heat of the night the street is pretty noisy with taxis and late revellers but that would be on weekends.

We were pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of this hostel. Nice staff. Good breakfast. We expected more noise at night, but it was very quiet. Great experience!

I missed my flight due farmer’s protest, and I was not the only one.All the low cost / nearby accommodation was sold out already and needed to find asap around 9PM something safe and affordable within reasonable distance from the CRL airport/ Airport shuttle bus (without knowing the area). The Hostel was a good choice from all these aspects. Easy booking and check in process, clean environment, good breakfast, nice staff, I was even able to work next morning on my laptop in the lobby (good internet). The hostel accommodate people of all age. Good shower.

I booked a full (twin) room for 81 EUR - ok for same day booking, not so great for the room you get. Twin rooms normally used as a dorm with 4 bunk beds and sold as twins if needed. The design is offputting, purely functional, all dark grey and industrial (the common areas are nice and appear friendly). A middle sized towel costs 1,5 EUR. The place was relatively quiet when I arrived after 11 PM but you hear all kind of noises from the other rooms during the night, people arriving late and leaving early.

Clean rooms and public areas, cozy public areas and very friendly staff.

This is one of the very few hostels that is great quality but affordable price. Really great quality. The room is huge. Plenty of ventilation. Bunks are sturdy. Won't wake you up when the ones above are moving. Has bathroom per room. The location is perfect. Lastly, breakfast is amazing! Really good selection, all for free. I usually have problems asking for alternative milk, but this hostel has it all. I will stay here again if I come back! Thank you!

Make sure to bring big padlocks for your storage cabinet because small locks won't work. The receptionist was really kind lending me one, so things worked out. And yeah, some comments were right, having no mats at the shower and no hand soap at the sink. It would be nice to have them because it could get really messy after the shower. The noise outside really woke me up several times. The noises, though, are really weird. Like one guy was howling at 3am! Btw, this isn't the hostel's fault. Lastly, I arrived when there was a staff meeting, so I was waiting for an hour and was about to wait for an hour more if I hadn't knocked on that closed door meeting. I thought it was normal that the reception was closed before 3 pm. But it wasn't. I could've checked in earlier, but wasted time waiting at the reception while I was hungry, tired from the flight, and craving for a shower. Once I asked them, though, they helped me. They are kind. But man, those time wasted can never be brought back. Makes me sad.

The location was not interesting at all and that part of Charleroi didn’t feel very safe.

matress with plastic cover is unbreathable that makes my bodyskin super ichy. can't fell asleep the whole night.

The staff is helpful and they give you an option for breakfast even if you checkout really early.

It’s not the hotel’s fault but there’s a repair area outside of the hotel and the train station, if you arrive by night or leave at the early hours of the morning there are barely any lights on the streets due to this repairs and it may feel a little unsafe for solo travelers.
