What a special place!
We spent two nights in Portovenere and absolutely loved La Vongola. The apartment is perfectly located and beautifully decorated, with thoughtful use of space. We were a family of four plus our dog, and the apartment was very comfortable for all of us. Highly recommended!

Amazing apartment but don’t take a car to Porto Venere.
this is a stunning wee apartment. There are not many accommodation options in this very small and beautiful village so to get something so convenient and reasonably priced is amazing. It is right on the main pedestrian street and overlooks the main harbour. It was the perfect size meeting all our requirements. Fantastic bars and restaurants all around. also kitchen big enough to cook for yourself. Little supermarket nearby.
Please note that the private parking is 5km away from the property. There is NO convenient parking in Porto Venere. It’s a tiny town which really only caters for pedestrians. The streets are tiny and pedestrian only. We were not informed in advance about parking and I had to be very proactive in contacting the property to get details of parking and checkin. We only got details when I phoned them whilst driving to the property. You have to park at a marina in Fezzano then find your own way to Porto Venere. To be fair the parking was very secure and lots available. There is a regular bus to Accomodation from Marina but you CANNOT buy the tickets on board. If you do you will also be fined €35 per person. You must buy in advance from a tabacchi in Fezzano (or I imagine you could purchase if stopping in La Spezia en route). The tabacchi in Fezzano was shut for 3 hours siesta and the marina office had run out of tickets. You can text the bus company to buy a ticket but this only works with an Italian SIM card. We had small bags so were happy to walk but it is a very busy road with no pavement. In the end the Marina office called us a taxi (€25). For return journey: buy bus tickets from tourist office in main square at Porto Venere. open 10-12 then shuts for siesta. Be careful to use ticket right away as it only covers a 1 hour or 3 hour travel slot depending on what you ask for. Don’t buy too far in advance. In summary if coming by car: pack light, only take what you are prepared to carry easily, leave rest in car, maybe buy bus tickets in La Spezia before parking in Fezzano or just treat yourself to a taxi from Fezzano. Or just go whole way by public transport and get bus/train to La Spezia from airport then bus to Porto Venere.

False advertising!!! Booking.com says they have “free parking” included. Yes it is free spot, but MAJOR DETAIL left out is that the parking spot is a 30 minute drive from the actual location - winding, coastal roads that are not walkable and no transportation is provided for you.
It was an extremely unpleasant experience. First the property contact gave us the wrong location. We were lost trying to find parking lot. We overheard them talking and they confirmed they gave the wrong “pin” location for the parking lot.
Finally found the parking lot and they said we could catch a public bus up a hill. Another surprise. We were told there was a bus for transportation. The detail was NEVER shared ahead of time that it was a public bus.
So now you have to figure out the public bus system. We asked our property contact if we could buy a bus ticket on the bus. They said “yes”. You have to walk 1/4 mile up a steep hill with your luggage and then stand on the side of a road with absolutely no shoulder. It is incredibly dangerous.
As our property contact told us we got on the bus to get our ticket and then were fined 35euros for each member in our family because we didn’t have a bus ticket ahead of time. (You can only buy at tobacco shops, newspaper stands etc). There is nothing of this type around so our property contact gave us incorrect information. It was a very scary experience to have an Italian local tell us one thing and then get a fine on the bus from the inspectors on the bus.
The apartment floors were dirty. The furniture felt dirty, the couch was old, not comfortable, a live cockroach was found in the window, the sheets and bedding felt cheap, beds were not comfortable and didn’t let us turn the heat up - drafty and cold. Not even enough toilet paper was provided. Nothing extra was provided to make guests feel comfortable.
Overall, would not recommend staying here - not much to do and you’re very isolated.

Stunning appartment ! Best location in Portevenere.
This is a stunning appartment clearly designed by an architect. We spent one night here, a family of 5 including 3 teenagers. We all loved it! It has the best view in Portevenere-directly out to the sea and the town below. The living space is filled with light with two huge blue sofas, scattered with white cushions. Gorgeous place to relax and admire the view. The owners arranged for us to check in at the appartment at 1pm. This made all the difference to our stay.
