Beautiful location stunning cottage will absolutely be coming again

It was a secluded area 5 miles walk to the village driving was okay but there were roadworks so a little bit of a diversion. Lovely views quiet and peaceful. I don’t

The rural setting. Sky at night. Fireplace.

Public road leading to the house suffered from potholes obviously this is out off owners hands but visitors need to be aware

So peaceful. Very clean and spacious.
Our bed was so comfy.
Found the shower a bit awkward to operate and it took a while for the hot water to come through.

The house was spacious, comfortable and had everything we needed. Beautiful.
We loved the views, and the peace and quiet.
We hope to visit again!
The roads in are a bit bumpy but we didn't meet any other vehicles and took our time.

The cottage was beautiful as was the surrounding countryside. Plenty to do nearby. The accommodation was lovely and warm despite being chilly outside (February ). The cottage had everything we needed and more. Lots of lovely touches. The photos do not do the cottage justice. Thank you and we will be back.

Very well equipped and spacious single storey barn conversion in a remote location. We enjoyed the company, in the house, of the visiting ( on invitation ) farm cat and dog. Interesting wild life. A young hare who mowed the lawn, a passing fox, the snail who walked along the patio door sill and the swallows and martins. Lots of interesting places to visit - Threave Gardens at Castle Douglas, The Mill with its second hand bookshop and cafe at Gatehouse of Fleet and The Raider's Road £3 toll from Clatteringsaws Loch to Loch Ken and Kippford and Rockcliffe. The sunsets were spectacular.
The main shower was a bit slow and the bath was difficult to get in and out if you are short and elderly! Nothing that the owners can do about but until the council decide to resurface the road avoiding the potholes on the lanes leading to Kirkcudbright makes for a very slow and uncomfortable journey.

Self catering, good location and easy to get to local services and attractions, very quiet location all of which we wanted. Never met our hosts but they provided a contact number if needed which was fine. Barcloy is a working farm but we were never disturbed or inconvenienced likewise the neighbouring cottage was occupied but again very quiet and no issues. Nice garden and views.

All good. The house is well-equipped and comfortable, and the area is very quiet and peaceful. There's a variety of walks locally, with good viewpoints. If you get lucky with the weather, it's a great location for star-gazing.
If you happen to be visiting in the winter (as we did), and if you don't drive a 4x4 vehicle (as we don't), it's worth knowing that there's an uphill section of the farm drive that may be icy. We got up the hill, but it wasn't easy, and took several attempts.

Lovely cosy cottage, very spacious and comfortable throughout with plenty hot water. A fab place for some R&R, so peaceful and nice to get a wee visit from the local wildlife. Hope to come back soon.

1 of 2 holiday cottages on the farm but you wouldn't know there were neighbours. Very quiet on a working farm with views across the hills and tremendous sunsets. The cottage is well laid out, clean and had everything we needed. Kirkudbright is a 10 minute drive away - it had the Arts trail and monthly market while we were there. The Weekly Scottish evening (Thursdays) off the main street was great fun. Very friendly hostess.
There's nothing to complain about

The cottage was in beautiful surroundings and was very well equipped with all home comforts. We had a lovely, relaxing time there and would definitely recommend it for a peaceful holiday.
A car is definitely required, as the cottage is on a farm , a couple of miles from the main road. Apart from that, it was ideal.

Extremely comfortable in terms of lounge, dining and sleeping, lots of room and plenty of toys, jigsaws, books and games. Very well kept and very clean with plenty of towels and great heating and plenty of hot water. Basically, just arrive with your clothes and food.
Nothing not to like

Superb views, swans and red kites flying past and sheep and cattle grazing in the fields. A well equipped kitchen and a comfortable lounge. The large entrance lobby was great for drying washing and as somewhere to leave wet and dirty kit (we were running and mountain biking).
Pay close attention to the arrival instructions, the cottage is out of sight until the very last minute as you drive in. The public access road is potholed so take your time. The cottage is a long way from the nearest town so you will be cooking if you like a glass of wine or beer with your meal.

The cottage is stylishly furnished in cosy shabby chic comfort. Communication and directions very good. Kitchen well equipped and some grocery essentials there.

Hosts were near by and easy to contact should we have needed to. The location was peaceful and cosy; it was on a farm but only 4 miles from the village and beaches. It suited my father who is in his 90s - the cottage is spacious and on one level. One bathroom had a bath and the second had a walk-in shower which was suitable for his needs. Inviting private garden with sunset views.
Shower was difficult to turn on (it is being replaced). A handrail and bath mat would make it more user friendly for accessibility needs.

Lovely, peaceful, cosy and quiet. Felt like a real bolt hole and escape from the outside world.
I live on a working farm in North Yorkshire, in a rural and picturesque setting, but Barcloy Honey House was another level & I liked it very much.
Liked the authentic appearance of the farm too, that you drive by to get to the cottage.

Excellent location, miles away from anyway, very quiet and remote, but only 20 minutes from Castle Douglas.
Nothing.

Everything! Excellent location, the house was very clean, comfortable and welcoming. Especially liked the flowers and organic milk on arrival. Loved being on a farm and all the surrounding wildlife.
The outside needs a paint to freshen up. Other than that, nothing!
