Grandma`s Hotel

Sololaki with its many old buildings and atmospheric charm is one of the nicest areas of Tiblissi to stay in and this studio flat is right in the middle of it. The room with is high ceilings and sunny veranda allows to experience local life in Tiblissi, both in its splendour and decay, a rare opportunity. This is certainly no five (or even just three star), it is a ramshackle place where neighbours hang their laundry and soak up some sun on their verandas. Recommended for those on a budget and interested in local life. Very helpful local host who lives next door. Has WiFi, cooker, washing machine etc.

This is not a perfect place, but changing anything would kill the charm.

Geweldige locatie is het centrum van Tbilisi, op enkele minuten lopen van het Vrijheidsplein, interessante musea, bijzondere kerken en heerlijke cafés en restaurants zijn overal rond het appartement te vinden. Het appartement is groot en sfeervol en je kan er prima koken, en daarom was dit al de derde keer dat ik hier verbleef de laatste jaren.

De badkamer is erg sober, maar dat vind ik zelf niet zo'n probleem. Daarnaast zou er wel iets meer gedaan kunnen worden aan gezellige verlichting en zouden er wat scherpe messen in de la gelegd kunnen worden, al het bestek dat er nu ligt is bot.

Its a rare treat to be hosted so genuinely. I appreciate the care the family gave making sure I was comfortable and settled in the private flat. The communication, price, & location cant be beat—quiet, dreamy, peaceful. The perfect place to sip coffee and write/work then wonder across the street for a 5 star meal in the garden of the “Writer’s House.” This is a special flat on a special street! A real Tbilisi experience;)

The location is good, 5 minutes walking from Freedom Square, 11 minutes from old city, but it is not the perfect location for travellers with young children. The kitchen was good. The grandma (the owner) was kind even she dose not speak single English word.

I am writing below to help others not getting disappointed upon arrival especially if it is their first visit to Tbilisi as I see that the previous comments are overrating the appartment, as a result,we had to replan our trip to avoid spending time in the appartment and we shifted to another one during our stay, keeping in mind that the owner was very respectful and supportive, and all the pictures provided are matching. 1) The building is old but not in the expected condition, I am fan of historical places but the building is really neglected over years leaving it in poor conditions. 2) The appartment was renovated and was left in the middle, so you don't feel it is an old or if it is modern. 3)The furniture is in very bad condition in the first floor, the bed is not comfortable and the sofa set is in very poor condition and you can barely set for a short time, however, the 2 single beds on the roof are comfortable. 4) The roof has very low ceiling and I had to bend my head all the time, and each step in it or on the stairs is extremely noisy. 5)The shower is next to the bidet and has very limited space. 6)The appartment has no external view and it is only open to internal yard (Italian style) thus we had to switch on lights during the day.
