Peaceful and relaxing

Location was perfect, right in the middle of the dark sky zone so we got to see all the stars out, even a couple shooting stars! The cottage was lovely and cosy, especially with the log fire burning. All the rooms are filled with amazing pictures taken from one by one of the owners which was a nice touch, we especially appreciated them being photographers ourselves. The beds were very comfy too. The hosts were very nice and accommodating. So much more I could say but overall it was an unforgettable visit and we will be returning.

The bath is really big so I was quite excited for a relaxing bath after a long day out walking but there wasn’t enough hot water to have the bath full it could only half fill which was a little disappointing but its only one very small which speaks volumes as to how nice this property is

Perfect calm and peaceful. Felt invigorated after our stay.

Top marks for cosy. Beds very comfortable so slept like a log. Flooring very sensible when dogs are with you . Contained garden perfect for doggy visitors. Kitchen very well equipped. We liked it’s isolation.

Don’t expect posh. Very simple but ideal for those in nature everyday. Quite isolated so go food prepared.

We had a perfect stay.

This is a great property. It was clean, comfortable and warm. It's in a good location if you want some peace and quiet and there are many local tracks for walking. Very dog friendly.

Lovely accommodation in a gorgeous location

Perfect for walking and mountain biking. Stunning location. Great value. Fully equipped kitchen. Huge bath - for soaking after a day on the hills! Pet friendly accomodation with a good sized garden for the dog to explore.

If you are staying here plan ahead - it's a fair drive to the shop if you need anything. This is straightforward good value simple accommodation for outdoorsy people. Wouldn't suit anyone wanting luxury - but that wasn't an issue for us as I have been before and it was exactly what I needed.

Perfect base for visiting family in the area, we’re here several times a year and will be booking again.

The house is comfy and cosy, perfect for us and our dog Eddie, the back garden is fully enclosed and has grass for the dog. The parking is ample, the cottage is easy to find and the area is stunning and quiet, we definitely coming back 😊

Very enjoyable week away in nice area and house.

The property was lovely and clean, well stocked kitchen and the beds are comfortable. The cottage was everything we expected and more. The area was safe for our dogs to walk around with plenty of woodland walks for them. We would highly recommend to anyone.

Perfect property

Perfect all you could need and want in a property. My particular love was for the large vanity unit in the bathroom, great for two people, and all their stuff. Bed was comfy, and I slept quite well all week. Great central position for exploring all the area.

Superb

Owners of Kelpies Cottage were so helpful and friendly. The cottage had most of what we needed for the relaxing getaway we desired. The log burner created the perfect cosy atmosphere following a long walk or wild swim. The area is ideal for a quiet, peaceful and nature friendly holiday whilst having conveniences such as a washing machine, fully equipped kitchen and amazing water pressure! The local forest walks take you through beautiful scenery and give the opportunity to catch a glimpse of the shy red squirrel. We had a wonderful 7 night stay and would definitely recommend.

Great value, lovely location and cottage for a quiet chilled out stay suitable for dogs too.

Lovely quiet village only 15 mins to the nearest town. We are reasonably local and chose the cottage for it's dog safe garden, parking, exceptional value for money and general facilities. The cottage is very well appointed with all the facilities required to have a comfortable stay. Also much cleaner and well thought out (information packs, instructions on bins etc.) than most other properties I've stayed in. Really nice touches like dog biscuits. Very good location for access to walks, cycling and drives exploring the local area.

Kelpie Cotage

The cottage itself is basic but ideal to use as a base for the many walks in and around Glentrool. The hosts were very good and welcoming and live nearby if we had any major problems. The walks are spectacular we'll worth the visit

Some areas of the cottage could of been cleaner ie behind the TV and the oven.

It was a lovely cosy cottage. Beth and Dave made us feel very welcome even had the heating up for our arrival. Great communicators and when the storm hit and the power went off they delivered more logs and candles and torches. It's a perfect place to just get up and walk lots of interesting places close by. Beth and Dave had provided loads of information on walks etc... We took our cat as pets were allowed. Nice place, lovely people not in your face but there if you need them. Would go again and stay there.

We realise that the pandemic has made things challenging however some more kitchen utensils would be good we struggled with what was there to be honest we are foodies so may not be fair comment. Would benefit from a large mirror in the bedrooms or hallway.

Only thing I found was bed was small but then I’m use to a kingsize bed also wasn’t use to an electric oven I have gas took me a while to figure out settings but got there in the end

Great getaway

Lovely location if you enjoy walking, plenty of places to go right out the cottage door. The cottage was well equipped and comfortable, the massive bath was brilliant after a day hiking. We would definitely stay again.

Nothing really to dislike, our first impression was it seem a bit basic but I think that was just an aesthetic thing due to the cork effect floor, wood effect laminate would’ve better but the reality was it one of the most comfortable best equipped places we have stayed.

Everything was fine but very basic. Certainly this would be because of pandemic restrictions and no fault of the cottage owners. Softer towels would have been lovely.

Lovely cosy cottage in a stunning location.

Literally everything else was perfect. Stunning location. Great price. Log fires in the evening. That shower is EPIC. I really miss it! (We have crap water pressure at home) Beds were really comfy. Cottage was warm and cosy. Everything was sparkling clean and beautiful when we arrived. It was "contactless" check in, which worked perfectly. We had contact with the owners via text if we needed anything - they are very lovely. We will definitely book again for next year. I highly recommend this cottage!

The only thing that we found hard going was the cooking! It's a temperamental halogen hob, that is really hard to work with. I love to cook - but we didn't cook at the cottage often.
