Wonderful property with comfiest beds ever!

The location is brilliant. It's set in a delightful village, central in the Wirral. Very handy for motorway access. Very well placed for some of the Wirral's nicest walks and beaches. Parkgate is very nearby for a good pub overlooking the Dee estuary, a small shop selling very nice ice cream, and a fantastic chip shop (try their curry sauce!!) Chester about 20 minutes by car. About the same to Liverpool. The house itself is delightful. Tucked away. Loads of character. Always a nice supply of logs in winter. Wonderfully comfy beds. The whole place is well presented and the hosts respond very quickly to any questions or problems. We've been going there for years and they always keep the property fresh and clean.

The beautiful attention to detail by the host Marie, with a real Christmas tree in the lounge and log fire waiting to be lit. Such a thoughtful host with tea and coffee and welcome pack. Beautiful quality bedding and towels, sumptuous and so fresh . Quality soaps and hand creams were gorgeous.

Difficult to find when you miss the entrance off the main road!

Thornton House exceeded our expectations. It was very spacious and well kept. Thornton House has very nice surroundings and is in a good location. I recommend anyone to stay here as you will not be disappointed.

A fabulous stay , gorgeous home, great laughs, and even a cheeky garden game to top it all off!

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful property during our trip for the annual Nurses Ball. The home was very well presented and clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully set up for guests. Its location was perfect and incredibly convenient to our event venue, making everything so smooth for our group. Our host, Marie, was simply amazing and warm, welcoming, and full of thoughtful touches. One lovely surprise was a toss and catch game left out in the garden for us to enjoy. We had such a fun time playing together in the gorgeous garden, laughing and relaxing. Everything about our stay was top notch. We genuinely enjoyed every moment and would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a memorable and comfortable getaway.

A wonderful and unique holiday home.

A fabulous property in a great location, really convenient to explore The Wirral, Chester, North Wales and Liverpool. The property was spotlessly clean, cosy and really well equipped. Communication with the owner was also excellent.

Decent property, even better host!

Host could not have made us feel more welcome. The weather was exceptionally bad during our stay, they were in regular touch to see if we needed help and even offered to help us through flood water should we have needed it in their 4x4. Genuinely couldn’t have asked for more from a host, there were plenty of nice little touches in the property on arrival, too.

There was nothing that we didn’t like about the place, and will be looking to book again when we are in town. The pub nearby is lovely, but could do with being open a bit more!

Lovely Easter 🐣 weekend

Lovey, spacious, and airy house. Fabuulous welcome pack and little Easter decorations dotted around the place. Stylish decor and a fantastic large garden to sit in the sun 🌞. Friendly host who was helpful and easy to keep in touch with.

Third visit. We love it here

Location is excellent for us. Central to everywhere we need to go. Lovely village. Marie is great at arranging arrival - very flexible, and always ready to answer questions about the property/facilities.

Honestly, nothing. The hob was a little tricky but we managed to work out how to use it. This is our third stay here and we love it.

Brilliant Place to Stay

Lovely location, beautiful property. The host was fantastic, she communicated really well. The space in the house was brilliant, we were a couple travelling and there was more than enough space for us. There was some lovely things left for us for breakfast, milk, orange juice, croissants, scones which was really appreciated. The location itself was great as the village was really sweet with some nice walks but it was well connected to main roads.

The only thing that could be improved was the cleanliness of the property. But if it was this place would be 10/10.

Perfect house and location

A rare find, the location is excellent, very private large garden and lots of private parking. Excellent house, because of the high ceilings it feels much bigger than it is.

The garden fence had a few holes in so if bringing a dog that likes to explore this could be an issue, it's only a small point as otherwise the garden is fantastic as is the whole house and you can't get a better location on the wirral.

Love Thornton Hough !

Everything. Lovely house. Peaceful. Comfortable. Especially appreciated the decaff coffee pods! Not many places think of decaff. Marie welcomed us and filled us in on good local places that are dog friendly. Super stay.

My only issue...and it is very specific to me...was no handrail on the stairs. Had hip replacement 7 weeks ago and can manage stairs, but handrail would have made life easier and would have felt much more secure. My husband had no problem at all. No door on ensuite bathroom...so mainly used other bathroom.

Everything! The house exceeded expectations. It was immaculate, beautifully decorated, very warm and comfortable, lovely garden, peaceful location - couldn't have asked for more. Some very thoughtful touches, including kitchen essentials e.g. milk, butter, bread and treats e.g biscuits, teacakes, coffee. We had a fantastic family stay and will definitely be back!

Exceptional

Lovely character property within a beautiful character village. We were greeted by the host, Marie , who was delightful. She had some delicious essentials for us on arrival....Milk, scones, clotted cream, strawberry jam, butter, eggs, biscuits, just to name a few...and was a real treat for us after our 6 hour journey. Plenty of space for the 4 of us. We also managed to see extended family for a birthday celebration and had 8 adults and 3 children in the kitchen. Overall, a great stay...wish we had more time. Thank you :)

A cosy home-from-home for the weekend, in a beautiful building set in a gorgeous village. Comfy beds. Welcoming living room. Lovely garden (with entertainment from squirrels harvesting horse chestnuts). Milk, bread, cream tea ingredients provided in welcome pack (thank you!). Will use this accommodation again.

Home away from home

The Welcome pack provided was exceptional with breakfast essentials as well as scones, clotted cream and prosecco. Toiletries provided were luxury brands which was a nice touch. The garden was beautiful and well-kept. All in all a very spacious and comfortable property which felt like a home away from home.

Only one niggle – it would have been nice to have at least a curtain separating the en suite bathroom from the master bedroom.

The garden was very large and private with football goal and badminton set provided - the children really enjoyed them. The house is stunning and everything was just spot on from kitchen to TV to bathrooms and beds etc. Highly recommended. Pet friendly too. Lovely beach walks and pub next door too. Lots to explore. Nice food etc provided on arrival too.

Great place to stay in lovely property and surrouundings

The property wrapped around you and felt like home from the moment we arrived. The hosts had been very generous with the welcome pack and the property was well appointed, spacious and comfortable. It is well situated for both access to the areas of the Wirral and Liverpool.

Exceptional

Beautiful house very well equipped to a high standard in a very quiet location. We particularly liked the large enclosed garden that we could spend lots of family time in as the weather was very hot during our stay. The large kitchen and dining area was very comfortable and had everything we needed. The house was more spacious than it looked in the photos. A really nice touch was finding the supplies of scones,croissants and everyday essentials provided by Marie for us. Our family will definitely be rebooking another stay at Thornton House.
