I stayed for 4 nights at the end of my 6-week trip, and it was the perfect way to finish my journey. The rooms are spacious, spotlessly clean, and have windows overlooking beautiful greenery. The bed and pillows were incredibly comfortable, to my taste (Japanese style). I especially loved the communal areas—they were perfect for relaxing, reading by the fire, or socialising with other travellers and staff. Everything was exceptionally well maintained and kept immaculate. The attention to detail is crazy. What truly made this stay special, however, was the seasonal staff. Koyuki, Keita, Koko, Kurumi, and Yohei do an incredible job of making everyone feel welcome and comfortable. They always had smiles on their faces, were eager to help, and went out of their way to make sure guests had everything they needed. The atmosphere is incredibly warm and homely in such an amazing setting. Thank you so much for such a wonderful stay! ❤️

Amazing hikers’ accommodation with clean, modern facilities. Guests can use the fully equipped kitchen, there’s a washing machine and dryer and we loved having breakfast on the wooden deck in the sunshine:) Beds were comfortable and dorms were warm! Staff went above and beyond to help guests and were super friendly.
maybe some signs in the dorms that people must be quiet between 10pm-6am would be helpful, as some guests made loud phone calls, blowdried hair and were overall quite noisy in the early mornings… not the staff’s fault at all, but if you’re a light sleeper, a private room might be the best option!

So cute and homey! Very quiet, exceptional service, great value. We loved the meal add-ons, and enjoyed eating in the community dining area. The Japanese-style private room was clean and comfortable. We also appreciated the ability to rent some trekking poles for our steep hike up Kurodake. I wish we could have stayed longer!
The mattresses in the Japanese-style room were pretty thin. Next time, I'd book a Western-style room or bring an additional sleeping pad.

Such a great and warm hostel to meet up with other fellow hikers! The staff is so nice and friendly! They are a great help if you need info regarding trails, bear sighting, etc. The food you can order is definitely worth it as you can clearly see it is made with love and care. You can rent bicycles, bear bell, bear spray for a day if you need, and the ropeway cable to access the mountain is just 7 min walk from the hostel and you have discount tickets to access very nice onsen located in two hotels just accross the road;
Beware that the beds are actually futons on tatami, which can feel uncomfortable at first but are actually very good for your body and sleep. Maybe I missed the info while booking, but it was not a problem after all. Also, the Wi-Fi is quite slow...
