This is a special spot - far far away from all the cares in the world. Our girls enjoyed the pool to the fullest and all had a peaceful and relaxing time, checking out stars and the sea view. The owner's guidance on most items was super helpful and we went to Taverna Gialites every night - more on that below :) and stocked up on food in Kissamos. My only concern is that while the remoteness is magical and I loved that it isn't yet overdeveloped as the north coast - it is a spot to book with caution. The last 4 Km from Kampos on the mountain roads is scary (one lane both ways!) and dangerous - only undertake it if you have the right type of car (stickshift) and an experienced driver. Hence we didn't want to venture far or drive at night. Google maps gives very confusing directions and getting to Elafonisi beach took us almost an hour through mountain roads. It will be interesting to see the venue in a few years - striking the right balance of some development and tourist amenities while preserving the pristine beauty for all to enjoy.

If you want to get away into the mountains of Crete, this is the place. Beautiful villa with pool. Sunsets are just unbelievable. Local tavernas 10-20 minute drive and are fantastic. Check out Gigantes for a special meal. The hosts were responsive, helpful and available. We spent 5 days at the villa and wished we had spent 2-3 more. It’s a magical place. Highly recommended.

I spent just a few days and I will come back for sure! The Villa, sorrounded by nature and with a beautiful sea view, is very clean, comfortable and very well furnished. I enjoyed fantastic sunsets from the pool. The owner was very nice to me giving me all the information about the lovely West Crete: beaches, taverna and things to do. The road to arrive to Villa Asteraki from Kissamos is amazing with great views. See you next time!

We had a wonderful two-week stay at Marina's villa near Kampos on the west coast of Crete. The villa was clean and well-presented with everything you could need inside. Outside it has a lovely garden with a gorgeous, large swimming pool. The views out to sea were amazing with beautiful sunsets but also lovely afternoons with the sun shining over the shimmering, silvery sea. Inland are the mountains which give the place its remoteness (a car is essential!) and we grew to love the roads, to see the landscape in different lights and, of course, the sheep and goats! While the large supermarkets are in Kissamos, there are also smaller ones in Platanos and an excellent minimarket in Chrysoskalitissa (take the coast road through Livadia rather than the inland road through the mountains that Google Maps suggest as it's much, much quicker!). We loved the Gialites taverna in nearby Livadia for its delicious food using local ingredients and loved the food and staff at the Lefteris taverna in Kampos (their raki was the best!!). Elafonisi beach is beautiful - before the coaches arrive, so get there early. And do try the locally-caught fish at Kochilas taverna on the way. Falasarna beach is wonderful - try the smaller beach at the north end. A wonderful, memorable stay - and hope to return!

The property has a beautiful pool and terrace with amazing views over the sea. The room sizes are good and functional. The "villa" was clean, but a bit run-down, and not well cared-for. Bathrooms are a good size, but shower cabins are too small. The online listing describes it being "nearby" a small town, but the nearest mini-market is a 25 min drive, the nearest super market is in Kissamoss (45 min away), nearest petrol station 30 min away. You can't get anywhere by walking except for the nearby pebble beach; but that’s a tough walk down the mountain for kids. We spent a lot of time in the car on these patch-work mountain roads. The lawn would be beautiful, if it were watered. Most of the grass was dead with large sandy patches. The pool terrace needs some umbrellas: there is absolutely no shade from 11 to sunset; this makes watching the kids in the pool a pain. Not good for grilling. Two small cheap grills were provided (possibly by a previous guest- though one was unused), but no grilling utensils. We were also warned that grilling when it is windy is not permitted, which it often is up on the mountain. Good advice with all the dead grass on the lawn.

Great location, Clean house/pool, Responsive host. Highly recommended to stay at Villa Askeraki to enjoy the West part of Crete. However, we noticed that a couple of items needed to be fixed in the house (e.g., shower head, flush, window lock). Also, note that you have to bring your own shampoo and soap.

Nicely appointed villa in quiet surroundings. Owner was fantastic with communication and we were met at the villa for the handover and had local contacts if there were any issues. The view was fantastic and the pool was perfect for relaxing and cooling down in. We had everything we need to cook when we wanted to and there are some nice local tavernas within 10 to 20min drive away. The villa was fully air-conditioned which added to our comfort. With the westerly outlook the sunsets were magnificent as it dipped beyond the sea horizon. You will definitely need your own car as the location is remote and getting to any tourist sites or beaches requires a reasonable drive - 40 min to Elounda beech and 50 mins to Kissamos. The owner was also flexible with our late arrival time and also allowed us a late check out which we were very greatful for.

Stunningly beautiful, very peaceful and immaculately well maintained. The pictures really don't do it justice it really is that lovely here. The owner really couldn't do enough for us making us feel very welcome. The pool was just the right size and spotlessly clean. The cleaner was thorough coming twice a week. We spent most of the time around the pool although we did venture to Kissamos to top on food as that is the nearest supermarket. The local Taverna's are all pretty good although we settled on two, Stomio and Glikeria. I can't recommend this villa highly enough you will love it. We will definitely come back at some time in the future.

Der erste Eindruck war sehr gut. Tolle Lage, sehr gute Ausstattung, sauber, Kühlschrank mit Wasser und Obst gefüllt. Haus, Pool und Aussicht ist wunderbar. Leider ist das Eine oder Andere in die Jahre gekommen und sollte mal repariert/ersetzt werden (Fenster läßt sich nicht abschliessen, Poolfliesen lösen sich, Poollampen sind locker, Polster auf den Poolliegen tw. zerrissen und fleckig, Duschkopfhalter abgebrochen, Garten war nicht wirklich gepflegt wie auf den Fotos, die Wiese ist vermutlich der Hitze und Wassermangel zum Opfer gefallen) Alles nicht tragisch aber mindern eben das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. Gastgeber waren wirklich sehr zuvorkommend, hilfsbereit und nett. Marina hat superschnell auf Anfragen reagiert und ist auch bemüht Dinge die reklamiert wurden (kaputte Waschmaschine und CD Spieler) schnellstmöglich zu reparieren. Haben die Woche mit Pool genossen!

Nous avons adoré notre séjour de 3 semaines dans la villa Asteraki. La vue sur la mer et sur les oliviers est vraiment magique, l’endroit est très calme, on entend uniquement le merveilleux chant des cigales : un vrai régal ! La villa est très bien entretenue, très propre et très bien décorée/équipée. La propriétaire est adorable et disponible en cas de besoin, idem pour Agapi la housekeeper. Des supérettes et tavernes de qualité sont accessibles à 10-15 minutes en voiture, les plages de sable à 20 min (5-10 min pour les plages de galets). Nous n’avons vraiment manqué de rien ! C’est un endroit parfait pour une famille qui cherche un lieu de villégiature calme pour se reposer. Merci pour tout Marina et à très bientôt j’espère !

The house is really nice, quiet and built on high level. Unfortunately, the service is not. For example the internet worked for only two days and the owner as well as the house-keeper did not do anything about it. The answer was: "It's hard, you know and it should work tomorrow!" Well, it didn't... Twice we did not have any water for quite a while, which is really annoying. On the first day, the electricity failed, a lid for the pan is not available, the coffee-machine is really cheap and terrible. All in all: The place is nice but the service around it has a lot of deficits, which could easily be taken care of. So we will not return to this place. The Keramoti Villas on the other side of the street seem to be in better shape, they are bigger, cost almost the same and have a good view to the sea. At Villa Asteraki you can see the sea only from the pool-area.

Wir haben uns in der Villa Asteraki sehr wohl gefühlt. Das Haus ist zweckmäßig und stilvoll eingerichtet. In der Küche hätte ich mir noch ein Schneidemesser für Obst gewünscht und vielleicht ein andere Pfanne. Wir haben fast jeden Tag selbst gekocht der nächste größere Supermarkt ist relativ weit entfernt. Man sollte gut die Einkäufe planen. Allerdings gibt es ein Dame, die das Haus betreut und die einem absolut zuverlässig Waren aus dem Supermarkt in Kissamos mitbringt. Sie ist wirklich sehr hilfsbereit. Auf der wunderbaren Terrasse vorm Haus haben wir immer gesessen und den Garten genossen. Ich kann das Haus jedem ruhesuchenden Naturliebhaber empfehlen. Wir kommen sicherlich wieder.

Wir sind eine Familie mit 3 Kindern (8, 12, 13 Jahre) und haben 2 herrliche, erholsame Wochen im Haus von Marina und Claudio verbracht. Wir sind sehr herzlich empfangen worden. Obwohl das Haus nur für 4 Personen ausgeschrieben ist, haben wir genügend Platz gehabt. Die Kinder hatten ihren eigenen Schlafbereich mit WC/Dusche und die Erwachsenen hatten ihren eigenen Schlafgereicht mit WC/Dusche gehabt. Die Einrichtung des Hauses ist sehr stil- und geschmackvoll im italienischen Stil. Der Pool ist sehr schön, sauber und gross. Der Garten ist sehr gepflegt. Die Lage des Hauses im Westen Kretas ist optimal für einen erholsamen Urlaub. Sehr ruhig mit wunderbarer Aussicht aufs Meer, wo jeden Abend ein schöner Sonnenuntergang beobachtet werden kann. Ein Auto ist unerlässlich. Es gibt unzählige, auch beinahe unberührte Strände, die besucht werden können. Claudio, der Besitzer, gibt gerne Auskunft über Geheimplätze und geht auf die Bedürfnisse der Mieter gerne ein. Auch für empfehlenswerte Tavernen in der Umgebung kann Claudio einige Tipps geben. Die Gegend in Westkreta ist beinahe unberührt. Hier spüren Sie den Puls Kretas, bekommen einen Einblick in das einfache Leben der Einheimischen und finden die Ruhe und Erholung. Für Einkäufe stehen bekanntere Orte mit kleinen Supermärkten zur Verfügung. Lassen Sie sich von Claudio beraten und teilen Sie ihm Ihre Wünsche mit, er kann Sie stets gut und kompetent beraten. Wir sind rundum begeistert von unserem ersten Urlaub in Kreta. Diese Gegend mit diesem schönen Haus bleiben uns in bester Erinnerung. Ein grosses Dankeschön an Claudio und seine Frau Marina. What a fantastic villa and quiet location. No noise of car or airplane, just the wind, the waves and cigadas. We spent great time with my wife and daughter for a too short stay (6 days). We loved elafonisi beach at the end of afternoon when people start to go back home. And we discovered a typical tavern 2 km from ariaki villa with very local food that was excellent. A special thanks for the owner Claudio for his warm welcome in his beautiful garden with a lot of roses close to the very nice pool. So we enjoyed and for sure we will be back as soon as possible ! Again thanks Claudio and Marina to share your corner of paradise. Ludovic

What an amazing location! Claudio made us so welcome and we found the villa to be spotless, comfortable and especially well equipped. It was great to have things such as washing powder and a welcome pack of food provided as it is quite a long way to the shops! The pool is delightful and we had an unforgettable stay.

Enjoy wild Crete in a 5 stars standard villa

We stayed in Asteraki villa this summer, 10 days in the second half of august. We were with our two kids, 5 and 2 years old and we really felt at home. The place is quite and marvellous: a nice garden, with roses, local flowers and a perfect green meadow; there is a fantastic see view, from the terrace you can enjoy sunsets and dawns and count the uncountable stars during the silent nights. The pool is very well maintained, refreshing and clean, a diamond pond during hot days. The house is brand new, the Italian style furnishing very nice, all you can need is there, the kitchen is fully equipped, air conditioning and water are assured. Our guests were discrete and very welcoming at the same time. We found fresh honey, yogurth, water and fruit already in the fridge upon arrival and it did not pass a day without receiving from them a short visit aimed at checking that everythig was ok or a small present (fresh eggs or cheese for the kids for example). The position is strategic, 30 minutes by car from falassarna beach and 15 minutes from elafonissi. Apart from these well known beaches there are small and very nice beaches just around the villa. They are not sandy but the water is very clean and the place very suggestive. We appreciated the fact of being far from crowded places and in the middle of savage nature, even if we had to drive 15 kilometers to get gasoline :-) We really enjoyed the west and wildest part of Crete with our small children, supported by the extreme comfort of Villa Asteraki.

We stayed at the Villa Asteraki for 6 nights. We arrived exhausted after the flight and long drive from Heraklion, However, the sight of the sea from the villa, and the beautiful pool relaxed us immediately. The villa is cool inside with full air conditioning and 2 good sized bedrooms and comfortable beds. The kitchen and living space is great, and finished to a high standard. The views from the villa are beautiful, looking out over the Mediterranean with spectacular sunsets. The swimming pool is fantastic and we spent a few days lounging around it without going outside the villa. Keramoti is quite isolated and you definitely need a car. The roads are quite narrow and and steep, but offer spectacular views. You do need to concentrate as a driver, though. Shops are quite a way off, so be organised. There are a few Tavernas nearby. The area is either beautifully untouched or underdeveloped, depending on your point of view (We thought the former) There are some beautiful beaches a short drive away, such as Elofinisi (very popular) in the south, or more to the north. The water is crystal clear and very warm and offers opportunities for snorkeling. Marina and Claudio were great hosts, very welcoming and friendly and provided a great service, and they provided a selection of food when we arrived, which was very welcome. In short we had a great, relaxing time.....well recommended.
