Villa Aretousa is a magnificent villa built on a little hill with olive trees looking at the beautiful landscape below fading away into the blue sea. Its entry is very easy as it is on a very quiet agricultural road without traffic.
The extraordinary blue of the sea mingles with the bright blue sky creating a magical horizon of infinite blue.
The sun melts into the sea every evening for you, offering the most spectacular sunsets ever experienced.

The design of the villas had two major goals, first to make a comfortable and functional space that will meet the demands of the most discerning holiday makers for beauty and comfort, and second to integrate the villas in to the existing landscape so that they do not become obtrusive in anyway but rather give the feeling that they are part of the existing landscape.
In addition special care was made for the design of the outdoor spaces, with comfortable niches for entertaining or chilling out, for sunbathing or reading.
And to enhance all this we have carefully implemented our designs for grass and garden spaces, adding color and vitality to the whole setting.
And to top of the experience, our villas are positioned on a slightly slopping hill, amongst olive trees and facing straight west, enjoying magnificent sea views and the most extraordinary sunsets. A marvelous show just in front of you.

Great place to get away from everything. The villa was great. If you are looking for a quiet, remote place, this is an ideal location. It's located only 20 minutes from Elafonisi beach, 45 from Kissa mos, and 90 from Chania. The roads to the villa are.very narrow and steep, but picturesque. There is literally no traffic in the area of the villa, you might hear a car once every hour pass by. Mario is very responsive to ant issues or needs. If you stay here, I recommend going up the hill for dinner. We tried restaurants on both sides and found that Lefterias in Campos was above and beyond with service, friendliness, and the food was incredible.

This is a gem! In the mountains with a spectacular ocean view from the hot tub and from the infinity pool! The villa was a stunning stone building with everything you would ever need. Mario was very attentive and helped us with anything we needed. We found an authentic Taverna in Kampos called Lefteris with delicious traditionall dishes and daily meat on a spit specials. I would highly recommend this to anyone who needs some R&R.

Although the property was not very close to the airport and the drive was on the mountainside, we thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our stay! We chose this villa for the location that is more remote and gives us an authentic experience on western Crete. We got just that. Mario was very welcoming and his communication was top notch. He had many great suggestions and the villa was perfect for relaxing every day after our adventures. We so enjoyed the locals and the culture surrounding this villa. We went to several beaches nearby and local tavernas and never had a bad experience. The food, the people, and the Raki were great!

The property is in a lovely location - looking out over the sea where you can watch the sunset every night. The kids loved playing in the pool and Niko, the owner, has inflatable toys on site that you can borrow. Inside was spotless and well equipped; it had a homely feel but with a touch of luxury (e.g. a spa bath). We were given a meal on arrival and Niko was very helpful in advising on local facilities and places to visit.The villa is within 20 minutes of Elafonisi beach, one of the top beaches in the world - visitors to Crete often spend 1-2 hours on a coach each way for a day's visit. We could just pop out for an evening swim and enjoy the sunset! There is actually an even better beach which is not world famous and is only known by locals. You'll have to visit and ask Niko where it is!There are plenty of other places to explore. We mostly went to beaches, although there are some nice coastal walks and caves. Inland it's very rugged so would provide great walks. We stayed in August when really it is too hot to be walking much (35-40C), especially with 3 children under the age of 11. We’re not really used to heat coming from England, but I could get used to the life; going out for a morning swim, coming back for fresh Greek food for lunch in the shade by the pool, perhaps playing a few games indoors and then going out for an afternoon/evening trip to the beach. Our youngest boy of 6 has sensitive skin, but with factor 50 suncream it was no problem – he went home with his milky white skin preserved! The location is remote but that was a bonus rather than a problem. Niko's staff do a daily trip to Kissamos (about 45mins-1 hour away) and provide shopping. We only did this drive on arrival and departure - it's a windy but well surfaced road, unlike others in Crete. Otherwise we stayed in the south and had more than enough to do for a week.We had spent a second week near Chania, which worked really well. This is a more developed area and gave us a chance see other parts and to find our feet in terms of working out what foods were available (and so could order from Niko) and to get stocked up on things we needed (e.g. sunglasses).I'd love to go back and expect memories of Crete will stay with our children for ever. So well worth the money.
