We occupied the ground floor apartment with 2 good sized bedrooms. The beds slept excellent! The living room also had good space for 4 adults to sit and dine. With all curtains open you have pretty views and enough light inside. The shower was great, big streams of hot water. The outside terrace with the seats and table was really nice, we used it a lot. The garden that borders to the river is a great bonus.
The bathroom and kitchen feel pretty cramped compared to 'modern' standards. Everything works well, but space is limited. Lots of furniture is very old. You need to manage your expectations here. If you expect a modern apartment, it is not here. The 'train' noise some people complain about , it did not bother us at all, it is not loud at all just some ratlling in the background sometimes. Yes if you pay attention to it you 'hear' it, but for us it just melted into the usual daily noises.

Location, friendly host, large balcony
The kitchen area is quite small but was well supplied with everything we needed.

The host was waiting for us at the train station and offered us a ride to the property. We hadn't asked for it so that was really nice. We were shown around and given tips and tricks about the surroundings, travel options, etc.
There isn't anything which we disliked about the. Perhaps only that it was too short. Next time we will stay longer to be able to fully enjoy it.

This is a first-floor apartment with a balcony and good views of the Blüemlisalp group and the Doldenhorn. It is adjacent to the river (with the railway line on the far side) at the end of a cul-de-sac side road on the northern edge of the town, about 10-15 mins hike from the centre (tourist office, food shops) and railway station, so it is well away from the main road but suffered a little from the noise of the river and passing trains. The apartment comprises two bedrooms, a large sitting room with a dining area, a small kitchen, and an even smaller toilet plus sink and bath/shower. The smaller bedroom next to the river contained two single beds and was good for children. The larger bedroom had two single beds pushed together. As described, there was no internet although one can get a mobile phone data signal (there is WLAN but for some reason it is not connected to the internet).
The whole place felt a bit neglected (for travellers with an interest in museum tourism descending into an apartment virtually unchanged since it was built in the mid 1960's this blast from the past might be the thing though). In a bathroom of about 2m x 3m, standing in front of the sink without touching the toilet, or changing clothes, becomes an acrobatic challenge. The two single beds pushed together in the larger bedroom were prone to sliding apart with the slightest movement (thus facilitates changing of linens rather than guest intimacy). The kitchen was cramped and cluttered, with a peculiar, apparently erratic collection of kitchen utensils such as pots without lids, numerous glass caraffes, oversized plastic bowls, but not a single baking pan, to make bread for example. Throughout we were hard-pressed to find vacant electrical sockets for charging equipment, short of unplugging things. Garbage collection was included with a single small bag, but recycling was not, even though recyclables nowadays dwarf true garbage (the owner asked us on our last morning to please drop recyclables at Kandersteg's recycling center ourselves which would have been irksome if we had been running to a timetable). Overall the apartment looks a bit run down and at CHF 1044 for 4 travellers for one week right next to the railway line at the edge of town seemed rather overpriced, but perhaps good for late availability if one is willing to pay a premium.
