Interesting layout and history of the cottage. We loved the big garden with lots of wildlife, we enjoyed watching the house martins, pheasants and hares. The house was warm and comfortable with plenty of books, games and our kind of music CDs and DVDs and local information. Being an artist myself I appreciated how the cottage was decorated with Dermod's colourful paintings.
The bed was a bit too firm for us.

We loved the coziness and comfort of the cottage. Very private and spacious. It was equipped with everything we needed and instructions were clearly in a folder. Loved the heated towel rail and the touch light in the bathroom mirror. Comfy bed and couch. Easy parking at the door made unpacking easy. Wifi was great. We even went sledding on the snow. Also the owner Dermod was happy to help with our only query regarding the TV operation.
The timing of the heater in the lounge was a bit off and we didn’t manage to adjust it and the shower heater occasionally went cold.

What's not to like about Shetland cottages. Great accommodation, fantastic location and scenery. Lots of things to do within the area or a short drive away. We stayed with our toddler and all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Would highly recommend it to everyone.

A wonderful cottage, spacious private garden, great location, light and airy, well equipped - kitchen, books, DVDs, games. New kitchen was great. The weather was clear blue skies and 20 degrees everyday so can't really comment on the new heaters however they seemed very smart. Well organised and informed arrival/departure info. Highly recommend and would happily book again if we were to stay in the area. Thank you for a beautiful stay!
Can't fault anything.

Scotland is amazing and this was the cherry on top. Plus the best dog friendly place we have ever stayed in. I'm not sure if I could find the right words to tell you how much we enjoyed our stay in Shetland Cottage.
Perfect location amazing wildlife, quiet, tranquil and with a big enclosed garden. Inside was spotless, warm, comfortable and cosy. Fully equipped kitchen, the living room had a lovely big sofa the hosts have put together a folder which gives you information about the cottage and surrounding area. As well as maps, brochures and leaflets about sights, activities and walks. They had also provided WiFi, Dvds, books, games perfect after a day exploring. Plenty of room throughout the cottage. Good size bedrooms with the comfiest beds. The cottage has views out to the private garden. (Nice to see the house martins flying around). Fresh White bedding and towels. Beautiful decorated with the added bonus of the phenomenal paintings done by the owner displayed in every room. Adding to the homely feel.
Very hospitable services. Dermod is pleasent, courteous, professional, helpful and informative. He replys quickly to any inquiries and provides you with information before your arrival.
Wished we stayed longer than the 7 days definitely a must. We will be returning & highly recommend to everyone considering this lovely cottage

Very nice cottage with everything you need during your vacation. The location is quiet and lovely, but you need a car or a bus ticket if you want to go shopping or eating out. The bus stop is just a few minutes' walk away. It was a little cold in June, so we had to use the heating regularly. There are tons of books, DVDs and games for your enjoyment, as well as many leaflets and brochures about walks and sights in the area. We had a wonderful time in this beautiful spot and would love to come back some day.
There's nothing to complain about - except maybe the weather, but that's Scotland. ;-)

The location was excellent. A main route to all the major locations. We even drove to Fort William.
To be honest I couldn't find a fault. Wasn't really looking.

Very clean, lovely paintings by the owner brightened the house. Handy spot but nice and quiet, away from the madness that is peak season Aviemore! Loch Insh water sports and highland wildlife park are very near by, as is the excellent post office cafe and gallery.

This was our fifth visit to Meadowside Cottages, however our first time staying in Shetland Cottage.
The cottage was absolutely spotless, & completely adhering to Covid 19 regulations. There is also a folder within the cottage which gives you all the information you need for the cottage & loads of leaflets for local attractions.
The cottage has also been freshly painted and beautifully decorated, with gorgeous original artwork throughout the cottage painted by the owner which added the personal touch. The beds / bedding / towels all brilliantly white & clean.
Loved the big gorgeous couch for us all to have a family movie night on. And the family board games were a treat & fun, however we do suspect our daughter cheated lol !!! The broadband was also definitely a winner for our daughter!
We absolutely loved our private garden where we enjoyed our evening watching the sun go down, chilling out with good wine & fabulous company.
It was also wonderful that the electricity was included in the price, as we have always in the past paid it at the end of the week, however we did respect it was included as we know it can be expensive, plus with our amazing glorious weather, there was no requirement for heating.
We will 100% be returning & highly recommending to our friends & family.
Thank you Dermod for your professionalism & help with any of my questions prior to our holiday.

Location was great, close to a range of places we wanted to go and really comfortable.
Washing machine would have been useful but we managed perfectly well without.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely cottage in a unique setting. It was well equipped for a 7 day stay and had been deep cleaned before our arrival. The area is just gorgeous next to the wildlife park and easily accessible off the main road. Very peaceful and tranquil. The owner is very personable, helpful and courteous.

Clean and quiet and reasonably well equipped in the kitchen
Too little storage space, rooms too small, couldn't access the fridge without moving the kitchen table, no wifi inside the house, nowhere for wet clothes and boots. Make sure to check the electricity meter when you arrive (the given reading was out by £10 on arrival) and when you leave. We were overcharged nearly £30 and when we challenged them they refused to show a reading or their calculation. We had already read the meter so we paid the right amount. Not happy about the way they went about things.
