Chambres et Table d'Hôtes Les Machetières

A lovely building in a beautiful location. The room is very tastefully decorated with a great bathroom (fabulous shower!). The host was very welcoming, warm and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. A good continental breakfast was provided.

The room was described as having tea/coffee making facilities but none were provided. Possibly an oversight due to some miscommunication with Booking.com?

This location is a oasis! We visited the Castle of Langais and then headed towards the location. It is a nice building, more like a mansion , in the middle of a forest, with large domain including meadow where they have horses and a pond where they had ducks and water lilies. An orchard with fruit trees. The host welcomed us and knowing it was a very hot august day she provided, three water bottles directly from the frige . Also she offered fresh cold apple juice. Then she led us to the apartment and presented it to us. The appartement was quite large , WIFI, kitchen, AC, modern finishings with a horse riding theme. very very nice. The toilet and the sink+shower were in the same room which was great(For the rest of the world this might seem normal, but in France , this was not). After our check in, the lovely host left for a longer time and went in the city (the building is 10 min drive from the town). So we had the entire surroundings to explore alone. We went for a walk in the forest, we played ping pong and pétanque , we fed the duck with bread crumbs and biscuits, we fed the horses with some fruits that were laying on the ground fallen from the trees. It was a really nice relaxing experience. later the host came back and also another couple of turist returned. Next morning we had included breakfast (some products were made locally). We liked the breakfast a lot. To conclude: This peaceful retreat near the Castle of Langais, with its charming mansion, lush meadows, friendly animals, and thoughtful host, offered us a beautifully relaxing and memorable stay filled with nature, comfort, and warm hospitality.

The location is very nice, the woods around the property are charming. The host was friendly.

The toilet did not flush for the evening and night; after I complained it worked but the host told me that it had been because of limescale. I thought this explanation was not realistic, probably the water supply was not on until I complained. The breakfast was based on bread from the previous day. Disappointing. There was a loud creaking noise from a machine in the room beside mine during the evening and into part of the night, it ruined the reason for going to a country location for peace and quiet.

Amélie greeted us on arrival and made us feel immediately very welcome. The property is a beautiful renovation and extension, tastefully decorated and furnished. The room was on a ground floor and very comfortably furnished and accessed from the reception / dining room area. The food which Amélie prepared was amazing !

There was literally nothing that we didn't like and would highly recommend staying at Les Machetières.

The accommodation is in a beautiful setting in the forest and is very tastefully decorated. The room and bathroom looked newly renovated and were spacious and comfortable with everything we could need (including a kitchenette with a very good little fridge/freezer) - the pictures don't do it enough justice! Our hostess Amélie cooked us a delicious evening meal (€25 each for three courses, plus €23 for a bottle of wine). I can honestly say it was one of the best meals I've ever had - Amélie is truly a talented cook! Breakfast was also very nice - especially Amélie's amazing scrambled eggs. Unfortunately we could only stay one night but I would love to return to Les Machetières and explore the area a bit more.

This is a fabulous place to stay. Very quiet and peaceful. It is difficult to find but worth the effort. Amelie is a superb host.
